IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2025 In this article, a weighted-consensus strategy for state-of-charge (SoC) balancing, voltage regulation and accurate current sharing in a dc microgrid (MG) composed of battery energy storage systems (BESSs) is presented. The consensus strategy is applied in association with a S-shape function known as sigmoid function, a common activation function in neural networks. By a neighbor-to-neighbor communication, each BESS exchange its SoC information to achieve faster SoC balancing and uses only its capacity for accurate current sharing. The sigmoid functions ensure continuity and differentiability of the system around the charging/discharging of the BESSs and guarantee the SoC balancing even if the graph becomes disconnected by communication failures or if the consensus is switched-off. As each BESS uses its own information in the weighted-consensus, the resilience against attacks and communication time-delays is increased. When all SoCs are within operational limits, the strategy avoids circulating currents in the MG by forcing all BESSs either charge or discharge simultaneously. However, if the SoC limits are violated, simultaneous charge and discharge among BESSs in a low rate is allowed to satisfy the limits. Experimental tests show the feasibility of the proposed approach and its faster SoC balancing in relation to advanced methods in the literature.
Identification of Drivability Failures Using Adaline in an ECU Gabriel Calais, Ronaldo Marinho, Rodolpho Neves, Heverton Pereira IEEE Latin America Transactions, 2023 Abnormalities in fuel injection systems affect the drivability of vehicles, blemishing the driver's maneuvering experience or the smoothness of the response of these vehicles under different operating conditions. With the technological advances achieved by the automobile industry, objective methods for detecting anomalies in vehicle drivability have been studied over the last few years, with emphasis on methodologies using time-frequency analysis with wavelet transform. When performing an extraction of characteristics through wavelet decomposition aiming to detect abrupt transient variations, it becomes possible to improve the drivability of a vehicle identifying the occurrence of failures by using the energy of the decomposed signal. Therefore, using the concepts of continuous wavelet transform and entropy of information, this work makes a time-frequency analysis of the rotation signal of an internal combustion engine. The samples collected from the motor are standardized, the continuous wavelet transform is calculated and, finally, the entropy of the transformed signal is measured. Thus, the possibility of implementing an Adaline model capable of detecting the presence, or not, of abrupt changes in these signals is verified, and later, it can be embedded in an electronic control unit (ECU). The results show that the use of the Log Energy entropy as an input of the Adaline model is promising, granting 100% of accuracy on the dataset studied.

Cobep 2023 17th Brazilian Power Electronics Conference and Spec 2023 8th IEEE Southern Power Electronics Conference Proceedings, 2023 This manuscript proposes a modeling and critical analysis of multiple-inputs, multiple-outputs (MIMO) applied to a series hybrid electric vehicle (SHEV) power-train composed by coupled bidirectional dc/dc and ac/dc converters. The model outputs are obtained as linear combinations of the inputs through a steady-state gain matrix, whose elements are functions of the electrical parameters of the SHEV. The mathematical solution is validated by simulations of a load profile taken into account the mechanical power calculation obtained from the vehicle dynamics. The developed representation allows the designers a more reliable analysis of the dynamic behavior considering the state variables of the power train electrical system, which enables the design of control systems and power converters sizing.

The complete modeling of these devices allows the proper choice of components, as well as the design of controllers. This paper presents an average and small-signal modeling of the three-level boost converter (TLBC) characterized by reduced stress on switches, low electromagnetic interference and low voltage and current ripple. The static voltage gain of the converter is calculated based on the developed model and the influence of all parasitic resistances is evaluated, resulting in a graphical analysis and equations that allow the design of the components. Theoretical analysis and the mathematical results obtained are validated through simulations. A cascade control for terminal voltage is developed using PI controllers designed by the frequency response and root locus diagram obtained by the modeling. The results verify that the output voltage is maintained at the reference value in a vehicular application.
