Sanmoy Bandyopadhyay, Anirban Chatterjee, and Abhirup Datta

    IEEE
The main purpose of antenna array synthesis is to get the antenna array radiation pattern (AARP) according to the requirement. In this work the main goal is to synthesise the array radiation pattern by reducing the corresponding sidelobe level (SLL). For the purpose genetic algorithm (GA) based optimization technique has been used, with a motive to generate new amplitude values for synthesising the radiation pattern. For optimization purpose in this work a novel cost function has been established in order to get the desired SLL. The newly generated amplitude obtained based on the proposed cost function has been put into the array factor formula in order to get the new array radiation pattern. Through the experiment it has been found that the new formulation of cost function able to reduce the SLL more efficiently compared to other algorithm exists in literature.

    IEEE
Accurate detection of coronal holes (CHs) is an important issue in the domain of solar physics, since, CHs plays an vital role in controlling the overall space weather and generation of solar wind. In this paper a novel application of image co-segmentation (Co-seg) has been proposed for accurate detection of coronal hole simultaneously in two solar disk images of different band. For the task of Co-seg circular Hough transform inspired active contour method (ACM) have been proposed. Here the circular Hough transform has been introduced to setup the initial contours for the ACM based Co-seg. In later stage, the initiated contours has been evolved based on the energy function by incorporating the color features. At the final stage, when the contours do not deform any more is considered as the final contours position and the regions inside the contours is extracted as the CHs regions from both the images under consideration. The experiment has been conducted on few benchmark datasets and the corresponding results have been compared with the results of other existing techniques. The compared outcomes validate the performance of the applied technique in detection of coronal holes in solar disk.

  • Detection of Coronal Holes Using Hough Simulated Parameterized Online Region-Based Active Contour Method
Sanmoy Bandyopadhyay, Saurabh Das, and Abhirup Datta

    IEEE
In this paper a novel technique of Hough transformed simulated parameterized online region-based active contour method (PORACM) has been proposed for the real-time detection and extraction of coronal holes (CHs) in solar disk (SD) image without disturbing resolution of the image. For the purpose a circular contour based on Hough transform has been initialized on the SD image. Now based on the formulation of PORACM the initialized circular contour is made to move towards the boundary of the desired region. At the final stage when the contour position does not change any more is considered as the final contour and the region inside contour is extracted as the CHs of the given SD image. The proposed technique has been implemented on benchmark SD images and has been compared with the available work on CHs detection. The generated results shows capability of the proposed technique in detection and extraction of CHs in SD image.

  • Object of interest detection in video sequence using co-segmentation: A new era in video surveillance
    Sanmoy Bandyopadhyay

    IEEE
In the field of video surveillance, one of the existing problems is the detection of object(s) in the video sequence. In this paper, detection of the particular object of interest in the video sequence with more accuracy has been focused. The main objective of this work is to detect the object which belongs to both query image and video sequence. The necessity of this work lies in the field of surveillance, main interest is in monitoring the activity of the pre-specified person or the pre-defined object. For this purpose co-segmentation based, common object detection technique has been implemented to detect the particular object of interest in the video sequence. The main goal of this paper is to establish a system to detect the query or the pre-defined object(s) in the video sequence. The work has been performed with a consideration that all the video frames containing the single object of interest (OI), which is to be detected. The effectiveness of the proposed work has been compared with the existing detection and tracking algorithms in the literature. Utility of the proposed system proves much effective and trustworthy, where lies the hope that the results will stand more accurate in detecting the pre-defined object of interest.

  • Antenna array synthesis by implementing non-uniform amplitude using Tsukamoto fuzzy logic controller
Sanmoy Bandyopadhyay, Hiranmay Mistri, Paragkanti Chattopadhyay, and B. Maji

    IEEE
This paper deals with a scheme of Antenna array synthesis by varying amplitude of each element of the antenna array using the Tsukamoto fuzzy logic controller. Here it has been tried to reduce the Side Lobe Level of the antenna array radiation pattern by changing the amplitude of the antenna array elements. Spacing between the antenna array elements and the corresponding phase - shift is given in the input of the Tsukamoto fuzzy logic controller and corresponding values of amplitude is obtained at the output of the controller. Implementing the newly obtained values of amplitude to the each element of the antenna array, the new radiation pattern with reduced side lobe level will be obtained.

    IEEE
This paper deals with a scheme of Antenna array synthesis by varying amplitude using Fuzzy logic. Here it has been tried to get new radiation pattern of the antenna array by changing the amplitude of the antenna array elements. Spacing between the elements of the antenna array and the corresponding phase - shift is given to the input of the Fuzzy logic controller and corresponding defuzzified values of amplitude is obtained at the output of the controller. Putting the new values of amplitude to the each and every element, the new radiation pattern will be obtained. This method can be used for the reduction of the Side Lobe Level (SLL) of the antenna radiation pattern to a certain extent where the exact values of the spacing and phase - shift is not known.
