  • Tech triumph or literacy lapse? The intersecting narratives of financial inclusion efficiency, sustainable development goals, and technology
Saumya Singh, Aditi Rajput, Santosh Gopalkrishnan, Aradhana Gandhi
Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 2026
The goal of inclusive development places financial inclusion at the forefront of sovereign development policies, particularly in economies that are investing in digital technologies. Despite the world’s progression towards technology, there is minimal empirical evidence of how efficient these inclusion policies are and how potent literacy is as a moderator to assess the broad development. This study attempts to address this gap by integrating inclusion efficiency analysis with development metrics. The purpose of such integration is to explore the impact of Financial Inclusion Efficiency (FIE) on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) realisation. This study employs Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and dynamic panel regression on a dataset of twenty-eight Indian states and three union territories for a time span of 2018–2023. Empirical findings reflect that FIE has a significant positive impact on SDG attainment; however, financial literacy as a moderator displays an insignificant impact. The result suggests that access to technological infrastructure supersedes financial literacy. The research contributes to existing literature by reflecting on financial outcomes through the efficiency lens, which diverges from the traditional index-based approach, like Global Findex. The evidence-based findings can be leveraged by policymakers, highlighting the urgency of developing tech-based solutions to address inclusion gaps and advance 2030 sustainable growth agendas.
  • Decoding Risk: How ESG Performance and Governance Shape the Stock Performance of the Energy Sector Firms
Megha Jaiwani, Aditi Rajput, Saumya Singh
2025 4th Opju International Technology Conference on Smart Computing for Innovation and Advancement in Industry 5 0 Otcon 2025, 2025
The increased scrutiny of firms' sensitivity to environmental and social concerns at present motivates the current study. In this context, the present research comprehends the relationship between the firms' sustainability practices measured in terms of ESG scores and volatility in stock prices. The study also gauges the above-mentioned relationship under the lens of corporate governance. The study analyses the data collected from the Bloomberg terminal of the top 100 global energy sector firms from 2015 to 2022 using panel data regression techniques with a fixed effect model. The findings disclose that the ESG ratings do not significantly create volatility in the stock prices of energy sector firms. However, the Corporate governance aspect, particularly the number of board directors (board size), moderates the relationship. The results highlight the critical role of corporate governance elements in enhancing the informativeness of businesses' sustainable practices and lead stakeholders to propose that strong corporate governance (CG) can improve the efficiency of sustainability practices in reducing volatility. These findings highlight the need to consider board size as a crucial governance characteristic and urge more investigation into other elements, such as board makeup and diversity, in subsequent studies. This study offers important insights for investors and regulators who want to successfully manage sustainability and risk by illuminating the relationship between ESG performance and corporate governance in the unstable energy industry.
  • Impact of ESG on Financial Distress in The Healthcare Sector Using Debt-Equity Ratio As A Moderator
Saumya Singh, Pracheta Tejasmayee, Rahul singh Gautam, Shailesh Rastogi
2024 Asu International Conference in Emerging Technologies for Sustainability and Intelligent Systems Icetsis 2024, 2024
This study analyzes how the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) factor, affects healthcare sector businesses' financial distress (FD) as indicated by Z-score. In this research, DER (Debt-Equity Ratio) moderates the relation between ESG and Z-score. The panel data (PD) regression analysis model (PDRAM) is used to examine the data. The data pertains to 33 companies providing healthcare services for twelve years (2011–2022). The debt-equity ratio moderates the relation between the explanatory factors and response factors. This work finds that there exists a non-positive relation established between ESG & Z-score. However, under the moderating impact of the D/E ratio, a positive relationship between Z-score and ESG is reported. This research finds practical implications in policy formulations at the governance level and project management at the corporate level. To the updated knowledge of authors, this research remains unique in analyzing a non-economic indicator's financial aspect in the healthcare sector.

Saumya Singh, Aman Pushp, Pracheta Tejasmayee, Prashant Barge, Shailesh Rastogi
2024 Asu International Conference in Emerging Technologies for Sustainability and Intelligent Systems Icetsis 2024, 2024
This study investigates the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on sustainable development in India, specifically analyzing the literacy rate's moderating role. Utilizing a quantitative approach through Panel Data Regression Analysis (PDRA) on secondary data, the research is confined to India. Despite this limitation, the study serves as a valuable foundation for future research. The geographical restriction not only provides context-specific insights but also lays the groundwork for broader comparative analyses in diverse global contexts, suggesting avenues for expanding the research agenda.

Proceedings 2024 International of Seminar on Application for Technology of Information and Communication Smart and Emerging Technology for A Better Life Isemantic 2024, 2024
Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) with social media algorithms is pivotal in optimizing content visibility and engagement across platforms. By leveraging AI's analytical power, marketers can predict which content will perform best, aligning campaigns with audience preferences and boosting success rates. This study investigates the impact of AI-driven personalized content on customer engagement and purchase intentions in the marketing industry. We examined how AI-driven personalization maximizes customer engagement and influences purchasing behavior through surveys administered to 322 followers who consume social media content and have purchased products through that content or social media influencers. The research highlights the positive interactions between influencers and followers, demonstrating the significant impact of tailored content on brand awareness and consumer decision-making. These insights are valuable for influencers, marketers, and customers. Influencers can refine their content strategies to engage their audience better, resulting in stronger follower relationships and increased influence. Marketers gain a deeper understanding of how AI personalization can enhance campaign effectiveness, leading to higher customer engagement and sales. Customers benefit from more relevant and appealing content, improving their overall experience and satisfaction. The findings of the study could be utilized by marketers to improve influencer campaigns, elevate customer engagement, and bolster brand awareness, driving sales in the digital marketing environment.
  • Impact of Ownership Concentration on the Liquidity of the Banks in India
Rahul Sharma, Bhakti Agarwal, Saumya Singh, Aman Pushp, Shailesh Rastogi, Prashant Barge
Proceedings of the 2024 18th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication Imcom 2024, 2024
This research aims to assess the effect of the promoters on the liquidity of Indian banks using the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) as a variable. The risk-weighted assets (RWA) are used as a moderator to assess their effect on NSFR and promoter. The data is analyzed by using the panel data method (PDM). 31 Indian banks were taken as samples in this study for the period from 2010 to 2019. It is observed that the base model shows a positive association between promoters and NSFR, it signifies that an increase in promoter value increases NSFR. In the second model, the impact of a moderator (RWA) is observed on NSFR and promoter and finds a significant and positive association between them. From the implications point of view, the study's findings will aid policymakers in comprehending how changes in promoters impact the NSFR and overall banking industry. The study is unique in the sense that there are rarely any studies being done to assess the relationship between NSFR and promoter. The study also lays the foundation for further studies concerning NSFR, RWA, and promoters.
  • Debt Financing and Firm's Performance: Panel Data Analysis
Shilpa Parkhi, Saumya Singh, Aman Pushp, Shailesh Rastogi, Rahul Singh Gautam
ACM International Conference Proceeding Series, 2023
The purpose of this article is to examine how financial leverage affects financial performance and the moderating role of efficiency in the relationship. This study uses data from 76 firms listed on the bombay stock exchange during the period from 2011 to 2020, resulting in 760 firm-year observations. A quantile regression panel data model is used to investigate the hypotheses of this study. The results reveal that financial leverage has a negative and significant effect on financial performance. Furthermore, the findings indicate that firm's performance improves with an increase in efficiency and leverage. Moderate evidence that an increase in efficiency exacerbates the negative association between leverage and performance. The results of this study have important implications for firms in emerging markets. Managers can enhance firm performance by reducing the level of financial leverage, especially in firms with low technical efficiency. These firms incur higher overheads, and then they can benefit more from the decreases in debt ratio in their capital structure. To the author's knowledge, this research is the first to examine the effect of technical efficiency on the financial leverage–financial performance relationship and is one of few that investigate the role of efficiency in determining the linkage between leverage and firm performance.
  • Impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance Activities on the Financial Performance of Indian Health Care Sector Firms: Using Competition as a Moderator
Bhakti Agarwal, Rahul Singh Gautam, Pooja Jain, Shailesh Rastogi, Venkata Mrudula Bhimavarapu, Saumya Singh
Journal of Risk and Financial Management, 2023
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities have become essential and viable activities of corporations because of the increase in concern for environmental, social, and governance issues. The motive of this research is to measure the effect of ESG on the financial performance (FP) of healthcare corporations using the market-to-book value (MTB) ratio as a proxy of FP. A sample of 33 pharma companies in India from 2011 to 2020 has been considered. The study relies on the panel data method to assess the association between ESG and FP. The potential moderating role of competition has also been studied to simplify their relationship in this framework. The finding of this study is that there is a significant negative association between ESG and FP, and it is also found that when competition is used as a moderator, it results in a significantly positive impact on the ESG and FP of healthcare companies. This study increases the understanding of the association between ESG and FP and helps corporations to formulate corporate strategies and stakeholders to make investment decisions. The originality of this study is that it addresses the impact of competition on ESG and FP of the healthcare industry and will become foundational literature for future studies.
  • Impact of Financial Inclusion on Net Value Added by Economic Activity
Saumya Singh, Aman Pushp, Bhakti Agarwal, Shailesh Rastogi
2023 4th International Conference on Data Analytics for Business and Industry Icdabi 2023, 2023
The study intends to analyze the impact of Financial Inclusion (FI) as viewed from the number of branches and access points of the Indian Post Payment Bank (IPPB) on the Net value added (NVA) by economic activities from banks and the insurance sector. The panel data model (PDM) is used to analyze the data of 19 states collected from 2019 to 2021. Findings indicate a positive impact of FI on NVA, suggesting an increase in the usage of IPPB as a tool of inclusion. This study has its own set of limitations. Certain states are not included in this study due to data unavailability, a shortcoming suggested to be resolved in the future by further studies. To the updated knowledge of authors, the inclusion of the insurance sector along with banks for consideration of NVA as an impact of FI is undertaken for the first time in this study.
  • Analysis of the Effect of Ownership Concentration (OC) on Dividends Using Return on Capital as a Moderator
Saumya Singh, Aman Pushp, Jyoti Mehndiratta Kappal, Prashant Barge, Adesh Doifode, Shailesh Rastogi
2023 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance Sibf 2023, 2023
This research paper targets to investigate the influence of ownership concentration (OC) on the dividend policy (DP) of 78 listed non-financial firms. Return on capital (ROC) is used to moderate the relationship between OC and DP. Data collected for analysis pertains to 2016–2020. The methodology adopted for analyzing data of these firms for the said period is the quantile regression panel data model (QRPDM). The models' findings show no significant impact of OC on the DP of these firms; however, under the influence of ROA, the relationship between OC and DP becomes significant. The limitation intrinsic to this study is the non-consideration of financial firms, which paves the way for further work in the area. This study is the first to take up OC, a crucial component of CG, and assess its impact on DP for India specifically.
