  • Indian Contribution to Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Social Sciences during 2014-2023

    The present study intends to identify and analyse the Indian research output on AI in the field of social sciences from 2014 to 2023. This paper showcases the publication types, yearly distribution of publications, prolific authors and preferred sources for publications; highlights contributing institutions and collaborating countries. The data source is the ‘Scopus’ database, refining through key terms and different filters. The findings of the study emphasise Indian authors’ contributions, listing of top authors, and continuous increase in AI publications and citations with occasional fluctuations. Indian writers are remarkably productive, especially those from universities such as the Symbiosis Institute of Technology and Uttranchal University Dehradun. The leading affiliation in contributing research on AI is Symbiosis International Deemed University in terms of citations and publications, while the leading collaborative countries are the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and China.

    Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a precancerous state which affects the oral cavity. The etiology of OSMF is due to various factors like chilies consumption, deficiency of nutrition, areca nut chewing habits, genetic susceptibility, altered salivary constituents, and autoimmunity and collagen disorders.  The present study is undertaken to find out the publication trends on OSMF during 1967-2016. The study mainly focus on year and decade wise research output, national and international collaborations, top journals for publications, most prolific authors, authorship pattern, citations pattern and highly cited papers on OSMF. The results indicate that highest growth rate of publications occurred between the years 1997-2006. India’s research share, citation score and h index was highest among all countries. Central South University, China topped the scene among all institutes. The maximum publications were two authored publications. CP Chiang of National Taiwan University was found to be the most prolific author.

    The present study intends to analyze the research output of ICARs top ranked five Agricultural Universities (AUs) represented in Indian publications in Indian Citation Index (ICI) during 2006 to 2015. The study has been conducted to assess the share of research output of five AUs in Indian publications, subject categories of these publications, type of documents published, top journals preferred for publication and citation received by these publications. It was found that Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi had the largest share in terms of number of publications of articles in Indian publication and also in citations and cited articles.

    <span>CCS Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) is among the top ten agricultural universities of India according to ICAR ranking 2016-17. The present study has been undertaken to find out the publication trends in this university during 2001-2015. The study mainly focus on year-wise research output, major subject categories, national and international collaborations, top journals for publications, most prolific authors, citations pattern and highly cited papers of CCSHAU. The results indicate that among the top ten agricultural universities of India, CCSHAU stands at fourth position in terms of publications and sixth position in terms of citations. It has collaborated with many institutions at national and international level in its research publications.</span>
