Low complexity IAOR signal detection for uplink GSM – massive MIMO systems Seema M. Hanchate, Shikha Nema International Journal of Communication Networks and Distributed Systems, 2024 Massive multiple input multiple output (Mamimo) is a high-speed wireless communication that uses more antennas at the receiver base station. When more antennas are utilised, the channel matrix gets larger. As a result of the inversion channel matrix, the complexity of linear signal detection grows. Mamimo consumes more power due to radio-frequency (RF) chains. The channel magnitude and correlation are used to implement the antenna selection process. The antenna selection method reduces the number of RF chains and improves BER performance. To avoid expensive matrix inversion, the improved accelerated over relaxation (IAOR) signal detection algorithm is presented. For various antenna designs, the bit error rate is calculated. According to the result of MATLAB simulation, the performance of the standard minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection and the proposed method are approximately equal. The proposed IAOR signal detection method improves the overall performance and energy efficiency and also reduces computational complexity.
On Performance of an Outage Probability of Hybrid Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks with Rayleigh Faded Networks Rupali Sawant, Shikha Nema 2020 International Conference on Industry 4 0 Technology I4tech 2020, 2020 Due to ever increasing service demand in wireless communication, cognitive radio and cooperative techniques have been employed for efficient utilization of radio resources. Efficient resource allocation (power and spectrum) in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Network (CCRN) includes reducing average transmit power, reducing co-channel interference and maintaining certain Quality of Service (QoS). Performance measure of cognitive radio network is evaluated through the calculation of outage probability. In this paper an analytical model to compute the outage probability of CCRN is presented. The resource allocation for uplink of Rayleigh faded Hybrid Cooperative Cognitive Radio Network (HCCRN) is considered. The network is hybrid as it uses both licensed and cognitive radio resources in an integrated manner. We compute the Signal to Noise and Interference Ratio (SINR) on licensed link as well as cognitive link by considering the power control on cognitive user. The power to cognitive user is allocated in such a way that it will not degrade the performance of licensed user.

Six-element dual polarized high-gain MIMO antenna for multiband applications Vandana Satam, Shikha Nema Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2020 A planar six‐elements, dual‐polarized, high‐gain, multiband antenna for diverse application is proposed in this manuscript. The proposed design consists of six radiating elements and a parasitic element on the top side of the structure. Each radiating element consists of overlapped ellipse with a line feeding technique. Iterations have been carried out on the number of antenna elements as well as on the spacing between the elements to get a minimum coupling between antenna elements. To compensate the coupling effect as well as to increase the impedance bandwidth, a ground plane structure has been modified with “L” shape structures. Fabricated prototype has an isolation less than −2 dB with highest gain of 6.7 dBi. Diversity in polarization is achieved by orienting antenna elements in vertical as well as in horizontal directions. A simple and compact design of antenna with good gain and less correlation coefficient makes an antenna useful for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) applications in the wireless communication systems. Simulation and measurement results validates the use of proposed structure in various applications like ISM, WLAN, Wi‐Fi, short range radar, and satellite applications.
Outage analysis in underlay ofdma based cooperative cognitive radio networks Rupali Sawant, Shikha Nema International Journal of Sensors Wireless Communications and Control, 2020 Background: Efficient resource allocation in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Network (CCRN) is necessary in order to meet the challenges in future wireless networks. With proper resource allocation, the Quality of Service (QoS) comprising of outage probability and data rate are evaluated in this paper and sufficiently improved with proper subcarrier allocation. Objective: Another important parameter is Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) which should be above a threshold called minimum protection ratio to maintain the required QoS. Results: The network considered is Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) based Hybrid Cooperative Cognitive Radio Network (HCCRN) in downlink in which licensed as well as unlicensed resources are used by cognitive user depending on it’s availability keeping the interference constraint in limit. The number of subcarriers required is different for every user depending upon its distance from the base station to satisfy the requirement of data rate which depends on the experienced SIR. To avoid outage of users at the boundary of a cell, it is necessary to allocate more number of subcarriers. Conclusion: It is observed that for a given user position and outage probability, as the number of subcarrier allocation in a subchannel increases high data rates can be achieved. This analysis can be useful in allocation of subcarriers to users depending upon their position.
Enhancing uplink/downlink performance of massive MIMO system using time-shifted pilot signal transmission with pilot hopping Amrita Ruperee, Shikha Nema International Journal of Wireless and Mobile Computing, 2020 In Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system, pilot signals are reused to accommodate exponential rise in user density. This contaminates the channel estimation for the intended user and affects the system performance. In the proposed Time-Shifted Pilot signal Transmission with Pilot Hopping (TSPTPH) system, pilot signal transmission is overlapped with downlink data transmission and pilot signal hopping is performed in each coherence interval. Hopping is achieved by switching user to a new pilot signal, this results in random change in interfering users. This changes the large-scale fading coefficient β, which is a function of radial distance between base station and user and thus improves the system performance. Proposed system enhances the uplink and downlink signal to interference plus noise ratio and data rate by estimating the channel with minimum mean square error estimation and reduces the uplink signal to noise ratio for data transmission for normalised spectral efficiency with rising number of antennas at the base station.
A Prototype of the Dynamic Traffic Management: Smart Barricade System Charushila Raskar, Nema Shikha International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems Ants, 2019 Traffic congestion in urban areas has become crucial problem for town planners and government who are trying to offer good transport services to citizens by using the advancements in technology. Though there is huge development in transportation systems due to emergence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) still there is a scope for further improvement. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is the core part in development of smart cities. Internet of things (IoT) has launched enough space for the technology to grow more. With these advancements we propose smart barricade system which diverts the traffic to less congested reverse side of the road. The main concept is to use the underutilized side of the road. The system offers solution to reduce the road traffic congestion to some extend in certain types of situations. An experimental prototype of the proposed system has been developed. This paper provides a deep insight about applicability of IoT in the management of transportation system.
Resource allocation and outage performance in OFDMA based cooperative cognitive radio network for downlink in underlay mode , Rupali Sawant*, Dr. Shikha Nema, and International Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, 2019 Efficient resource allocation is an important process in any network to improve the capacity of a system. In cognitive radio network the resources are shared among licensed & unlicensed users. User is said to be in outage if it does not get required number of resources hence performance of the system gets affected. In this paper the outage probability in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) based cooperative cognitive radio network (CCRN) system is computed. Due to random user position different users require different number of resources. To determine this it is necessary to know the signal to interference ratio (SIR) experienced by the user. First we determine characteristic of interference to signal power ratio by using method of moments. Once the interference to signal power ratio is characterized, user is allocated a class number. Class number gives the number of subcarriers required by a user. For analysis purpose we use downlink in underlay mode with log normal shadowing and path loss exponent. This analysis helps in allocation of resources to the user depending on SIR experienced and outage behavior irrespective of user’s position.
