Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy Using Deep Learning Techniques Sashwat Desai, Shruti Dodani 2024 IEEE 3rd World Conference on Applied Intelligence and Computing Aic 2024, 2024 Fundus Diseases can lead to deterioration of the patient’s eyesight or even complete loss of vision in extreme cases. Hence it becomes imperative to detect such debilitating diseases at the earliest. Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Retinal Detachment, and other serious diseases come under Fundus Diseases. Put briefly, Diabetic Retinopathy is the prevalent microvascular complication, occurring due to an outstanding history of diabetes mellitus. General survey of the Indian consensus suggests an increase in such diseases where the condition of the eye degenerates, in the recent past. Researchers have devised various techniques for the detection and prevention of Fundus Diseases, by making use of Deep Learning and Machine Learning concepts. The following study is an example of the same, while focusing on building Deep Learning models to detect Diabetic Retinopathy. It was carried out in collaboration with Ophthalmologists, who have provided the dataset required for this study, which is around 700 images after being subjected to certain augmentation techniques. Deep Learning models have been used to differentiate between fundus images of patients with and without Diabetic Retinopathy. Some custom-made models and some pre-trained models were used for this study. Further, the models are compared based on certain performance metrics and the results are presented.
Detection and Prediction of Alzheimer's disease using Deep learning: A review Ayush Shetty, Dikshi Mehta, Pranali Rane, Shruti N Dodani 2021 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering Icnet 2021 Proceedings, 2021 It is extremely crucial to get clinically diagnosed for Alzheimer's Disease because it is a progressive brain disease causing complex changes in brain leading to degeneration of cells followed by dementia which gradually exacerbates over time. Dementia can not only cause disabilities in elders but can also be fatal. India has the third-highest caseload of AD, following USA and China, according to international statistics. India's dementia and Alzheimer's burden is forecast to increase exponentially. Many researchers have used various Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques to detect and predict Alzheimer's. In this review paper, we have analysed and compared the accuracy and the performance of deep learning models such as Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), DenseNet, and Graphical Convolutional Neural Networks (GCNN). After roughly comparing, our findings indicate which Deep learning models with which data processing techniques yields a better prediction accuracy.
