  • Modified Brain Emotional Controller-Based Ripple Minimization for SVM-DTC of Sensorless Induction Motor Drive

    This paper presents the Modified Brain Emotional Controller (MBEC) technique for the minimization of torque and flux ripples of sensorless Induction Motor (IM) drive. In low-speed operation, IM is very sensitive due to variations in torque and flux ripples. These variations inert low order harmonics in stator currents that adversely affect the performance of the IM drive. The drive’s performance can be improved by integrating a controller that not only minimizes harmonic presence but also increases the drive’s performance. In this paper a biological inspired intelligent speed controller namely, MBEC is proposed to obtain improved performance from the drive. The input to the MBEC is an error of the reference speed and the actual speed of the motor that is estimated using the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS). SVM based topology is used to develop the inverter and IM is operated in sensorless DTC technique. Stability analysis of MBEC based IM drive is presented in this paper to hold the effectiveness. The proposed control configuration is tested with different operating conditions and obtained results are verified through real-time experimentation using Opal-RT OP5600. The performance of the proposed control algorithm is compared with the BEC and PI techniques to hold the effectiveness in terms of low flux ripples and torque ripples in different operating conditions.

    This paper proposes space vector modulation (SVM) based direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor drive using Brain Emotional Controller (BEC). The limbic system of mammalian brain generates emotions by processing information in amygdala and orbitofrontal cortex, forms a good computational model as BEC which is suitable for self-learning control applications. In this paper BEC is proposed for controlling the speed of the IM drive, torque and flux ripple minimization. It is implemented on op-RTDS-OP5600 simulator. The simulation and experimental results validates that the proposed controller performance is analyzed from no load to full load conditions and also compared with existing intelligent controller.
  • Performance Analysis of Regenerative Braking in Electrical Vehicles With IPMSM Drive System by Using ANN Controller

    In this paper, based on regenerative power analysis a low-speed electrical braking torque limit is determined for an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous (IPMSM) motor drive. This enables the batteries in Electrical Vehicles to capture the maximum amount of regenerative energy under any conditions. Under certain low speed conditions, the drive system dissipates electrical energy, this can be overcome by providing a low-speed torque limit based on Maximum Regenerative Power Point (MRPP) curve. With the help of an artificial neural network for current control, and providing torque limit the performance of regenerative braking is improved. To verify these analysis and torque limits, simulations are performed. And compared these results with PI based torque limiter.
  • Fuzzy Logic Based Sensorless Control of Five Phase IPMSM Drives Through HF-SVI Into Third Harmonic Space

    In this paper proposes High frequency (HF) Injection into a third harmonic spaces for five-phase interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. When compare to three-phase motors, the five-phase IPMSM offers more features. The Proposed method to hold torque ripples in different conditions. The fuzzy logic based controller are used in this project. It will improves a fault tolerance capability. An HF-square-wave voltage signal (HF-SVI) is injected into a third harmonic space and the generated HF Currents are utilised to track the rotor position and speed effectively. This method will reduces the influence of digital filter like time delay. The Proposed controller tested with different operating conditions and obtained results are verified through MATLAB and Simulink Software
