    This study introduces a fuzzy interval-valued approach using multi-objective linear programming to optimize passenger–driver matching in ride-hailing systems, addressing uncertainties in waiting times and fare preferences. The model aims to minimize total waiting times, balance job allocations among drivers, and reduce deviations in fare expectations between passengers and drivers. The proposed framework effectively manages operational uncertainties by incorporating interval-valued fuzzy parameters, including traffic variability and fluctuating demand patterns. Numerical experiments using real-world data demonstrate that the interval-valued fuzzy model significantly outperforms deterministic methods in reducing average waiting times, achieving higher request fulfillment rates, and ensuring a more equitable distribution of assignments among drivers. The results highlight the model’s robustness and adaptability, particularly under high uncertainty scenarios, and its ability to maintain service reliability and user satisfaction. While computational complexity remains a limitation, integrating the model with AI and IoT technologies offers promising avenues for scalability and real-time applications. These findings contribute to advancing optimization frameworks in ride-hailing systems, emphasizing uncertainty management’s importance in enhancing operational efficiency and fairness.

    This research aims to analyze the sustainability challenges in small and medium-scale enterprises in Indonesia, focusing on marketing orientation, social media marketing, and three domains of business performance, namely economic, social and environmental aspects. Data from 238 respondents in Pekalongan, Central Java Province, Indonesia, were analyzed using the SEM-PLS method. These findings support six hypotheses revealing the impact of marketing orientation on various aspects of business performance (economic/social/environmental) and the influence of social media marketing on economic, environmental, and social dimensions. The results have significant implications for SMEs in Indonesia. The findings highlight the need for improvement in sustainability practices, such as increasing alignment between marketing orientation and social media marketing strategies.
  • The Application of the Piecewise Linear Method for Non-Linear Programming Problems in Ride-Hailing Assignment Based on Service Level, Driver Workload, and Fuel Consumption

    Ride-hailing services have grown rapidly, presenting challenges such as increased traffic congestion, inefficient driver workload distribution, and environmental concerns like higher fuel consumption and emissions. This study develops a non-linear ride-hailing assignment model addressing these issues by considering service level, driver workload, and fuel consumption. A piecewise linear method was employed to handle a non-linear programming model, and the method was modified to function autonomously without operator intervention. The model’s performance was evaluated using a publicly accessible dataset of taxi trips in Manhattan, focusing on indicators such as passenger waiting time, driver workload distribution, and fuel consumption. Numerical simulations demonstrated significant improvements: a 15% reduction in average passenger waiting time, a 20% improvement in balancing driver workloads, and a 10% decrease in overall fuel consumption, contributing to reduced emissions and environmental impact. The modified piecewise linear method proved effective in optimizing ride-hailing assignments, providing a more efficient and sustainable solution. The model also showed robustness in handling large datasets, ensuring scalability and applicability to various urban settings. These findings highlight the model’s potential to enhance operational efficiency and promote sustainability in ride-hailing services. By integrating considerations for service level, driver workload, and fuel consumption, the model offers a holistic approach to addressing the key challenges faced by the ride-hailing industry. This study provides valuable insights for future ride-hailing development and implementations of ride-hailing systems, promoting practices that are both efficient and environmentally friendly.
  • Ride-Hailing Matching with Uncertain Travel Time: A Novel Interval-Valued Fuzzy Multi-Objective Linear Programming Approach

    This study introduces an innovative approach to tackle multi-objective linear programming (MOLP) problems amidst uncertainty, employing interval-valued fuzzy numbers. The method is tailored to resolve ride-hailing matching challenges encompassing uncertain travel times. Findings reveal that managing uncertainty parameters within interval-valued fuzzy MOLP is achieved through strategic reformulations, focusing on constraint coefficients, resulting in streamlined linear programming formulations conducive to solution simplicity. The efficacy of the proposed model in efficiently handling ride-hailing matching quandaries is demonstrated. Moreover, this study delves into the prospective applications of the developed method, including its potential for generalization to address non-linear programming (NLP) issues pertinent to the ride-hailing domain. This research advances decision-making processes under uncertainty and paves the way for broader applications beyond ride-hailing.
  • Investigating the collective value at risk model (CVaR) and its application on real data for life insurance

    Life insurance is designed to reduce the risk of financial loss due to unforeseen consequences related to the insured's death. In life insurance, the insurer provides death benefits as a claim when the insured suffers death. The claim is the compensation for a risk loss. Individual claim in one-period insurance is called aggregation claim, while aggregation claim is a collective risk. Collective risk is usually measured using a variance. However, the variance risk measure cannot often accommodate any event risk because there is a risk of claims beyond the amount of variance. Using the proposed method CVaR and confidence level are taken from α = 0.25% until 4%. This study found that the proposed method CVaR scored more fairly than Collective Risk. In conclusion, this study indicated that the collective risk model is just included using mean and variance without any confidence level. Therefore, only one result for the Collective Risk model, which automatically shows the model using mean, variance and standard deviation, could not accommodate all risk events.
