  • An Observation and Analysis the role of Convolutional Neural Network towards Lung Cancer Prediction
Suranjana Mitra, Annwesha Banerjee Majumder, and Tanusree Saha

    College of Science for Women
Lung cancer is one of the most serious and prevalent diseases, causing many deaths each year. Though CT scan images are mostly used in the diagnosis of cancer, the assessment of scans is an error-prone and time-consuming task. Machine learning and AI-based models can identify and classify types of lung cancer quite accurately, which helps in the early-stage detection of lung cancer that can increase the survival rate. In this paper, Convolutional Neural Network is used to classify Adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and normal case CT scan images from the Chest CT Scan Images Dataset using different combinations of hidden layers and parameters in CNN models. The proposed model was trained on 1000 CT Scan Images of cancerous and non-cancerous cells to find the best combination of parameters in CNN to predict lung cancer accurately.  The proposed system recorded the highest accuracy of 92.79%. In addition to that, the paper addresses 192 observations made using the CNN model.

  • Challenges in higher education during and after COVID-19 pandemic in India
Tanusree Saha, Partha Pratim Das, and Riya Singh

    IOP Publishing
Abstract Human Civilization has come a long way in terms of education. Starting from the ‘Pathsala’-‘Gurukul’ system to modern-day online teaching-learning, we made some massive strides. But, with arrival of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), an autopsy has happened to this millennium-old education system. This has pointed us to realize that, when we needed to shift the education paradigm from traditional chalk-talk method to online LMS-Blended learning technique all of a sudden within weeks, we are actually not ready. From premier institutions to the school/colleges/universities in rural area, everyone has struggled to some extent and huge amount of ground level remedial work need to be done to overcome the hurdles. Institutions need to be armed with proper infrastructure, teachers need to be trained, contents need to be developed, collaborations need to be built and the list goes on. In this paper we have discussed the challenges faced by the higher education learners and institutes in India in particular and also we have look beyond how this pandemic is going to change the educational path in future.

  • Reduction based histogram equalization technique for image enhancement
Blue Eyes Intelligence Engineering and Sciences Engineering and Sciences Publication - BEIESP
Here the proposed scheme mainly emphasizes the procedure of histogram equalization of images in more efficient way. Histogram equalization is required for image enhancement. Histogram spreads or flattens the histogram of an image and due to this the pixels with lower intensity values appear darker and the pixels with higher intensity values appear lighter. So the contrast of the input image is improved. For human interpretation various techniques of image enhancement have been widely used in different applications areas of image processing as the subjective quality of images is mainly important

  • Aspects of low-power high-speed CMOS VLSI design: A review
Prolay Ghosh, Tanusree Saha, and Barsha Kumari

    Springer Singapore
VLSI and nanocomputing has become the most desirable feature of any integrated chip. Computers are also becoming more portable. ICs are being introduced everywhere. This huge implementation of IC has also opened a scope of research. Size of IC has become an issue to think about. Power dissipation is also another important consideration as performance of VLSI chip design. Low-power high-speed CMOS circuit design methodologies will be elaborated in this paper.
