  • A modular approach to polyphonic music transcription using source separation and harmonic-gated pitch tracking

    Automatic music transcription (AMT) is still a major challenge in music information retrieval. Polyphonic audio is a mix of several overlapping frequencies, making it challenging for the usual monophonic pitch estimators. Therefore, models like CREPE perform well on single voice audio. But when they encounter polyphonic mixes or low SNR signals, they perform poorly. This paper addresses the stated problem with a modular hybrid framework to make AMT more robust. It uses neural source separation along with a dual-branch feature-guided gating mechanism. The pipeline begins with demixing the polyphonic audio into different constituent stems vocal, bass and other instruments. This is achieved using Demucs a state-of-the-art source separation model. These stems simultaneously pass through two branches one after another, with one branch being a pitch-tracking branch that runs torchcrepe to get candidate F0 contours, while the other pulls out a voicing mask from high-resolution Mel-spectrograms and chroma-energy features. The fusion of pitch estimates from torchcrepe equipped branch with voicing mask from the other branch helps eliminate false activations like background noise. Also, since all the stems go through the above steps, ultimately, we obtain the MIDI representations of all the instruments and voices involved in the audio. This approach is tested on Annotated-VocalSet and Vocadito datasets and found that there is significant reduction on false alarms caused by noise and a boost in raw pitch accuracy resulting in refined multi-track MIDI representation.

  • FixNGo: A Platform for on-Demand Local Home Services

    Connecting users with reliable local service providers is one of the challenges in the rapidly changing digital landscape of today. This paper introduces FixNGo, a compre- hensive platform that connects service seekers and providers by an innovative location-based approach. The system uses real- time geolocation, secure authentication mechanisms, and deep learning-based facial recognition for secure service provider authentication, leveraging models such as VGG-Face, ArcFace, and Facenet to create a robust trust framework within the platform to create a trusted service ecosystem. We implement a dual-interface architecture that utilizes React.js and Django, powered by Redis-driven real time communication. Our bench- marking demonstrates the system's efficiency in handling multiple concurrent users, maintaining response times below two seconds. The use of face recognition-based provider verification proves to be 95% accurate, ensuring a high level of security for the platform and its users.

    Excessive usage of Internet by most of the applications that use internet of things (IoT) has resulted in need for high bandwidth network. Light fidelity (LiFi) is one such network having bandwidth in terms of GigaHertz, but LiFi has a limited propagation range hence it can be deployed only in the local area. When IoT nodes are connected using LiFi network in the local area they start pushing large data to the cloud there by arising need for flow control. Some of the IoT applications such as patient monitoring systems and nuclear systems, generate critical data. The protocol for flow control in this case should be based on priority of data since critical data with high priority have to be transmitted first. We develop a flow control protocol named priority based flow control protocol (PFCP) by providing priority to flows that carry critical data especially in IoT system that use LiFi network. We evaluate performance of different transmission control protocol (TCP) variants and modify TCP variant that yields maximum goodput according to the priority based protocol developed and demonstrate that flows that carry critical data are given priority compared to non-prioritized flows
