Electric vehicles (EVs) are emerging as a promising alternative to the conventional internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) in India, due to their environmental and economic benefits. However, several challenges that hinder the adoption and development of EVs in the Indian market, such as lack of infrastructure, high cost, low range, and policy uncertainty and consumer awareness. This paper reviews the present status and prospects of EVs in India and identifies the key factors that influence the growth of EVs and their impact on the environment, energy and economy. Based on the analysis, the paper proposes some recommendations for enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of EVs in India, such as improving the charging network, promoting the utilization of renewable energy sources, incentivizing the demand and supply of EVs, and creating an adoption regulatory framework.
  • A unique method of a PLC controller based performance evaluation of optimization algorithms and power quality methods in a grid-connected hybrid wind-solar system
    Veeresh S Gonal, GS Sheshadri
    Wind Engineering, 2023
The electricity demand is growing due to increasing population and fast industrial development . To meet the worldwide energy requirement, the greatest possibilities are the wind-solar energy sources due to excessive accessibility, simplicity in use, and non-polluting in nature . The integration of these resources offers higher advantages, but the quality of the power scheme gets influenced by the different characteristics of wind and solar energy. Thus in the proposed work, an augmented controller and rectifier have been designed to improve the power quality in which the source current gets optimized by using the Hybrid Bat-Dragonfly optimization algorithm. The quality of the optimized power will be enhanced through the Five Legged Power Converter (FLPC) by converting the DC into AC by using a three-phase bridge rectifier without any power loss. The occurrences of harmonics in the current are reduced using a sieve optimized algorithm design.

Rural electrification is the method of getting electricity to rural areas. Rural people are suffering from massive power failures due to the scarcity of electricity in the national grid to meet demand. The rural electrification helps to reduce the time consumed by the family members for fuel-wood collection and provides more time for studying to boy and girl children's. This helps to increases the labour source of men and women, schooling of boys and girls, increase in family per capita income and expenditure, helps for reducing poverty. The Government of India is committed to supplying electricity to all the rural houses. Work, at present, started through all the central and state electricity boards. The attempt is made in this manuscript to access the benefits of supplying electricity to Indian remote villages and the viability of PV systems for rural households.
  • A hybrid bat–dragonfly algorithm for optimizing power flow control in a grid-connected wind–solar system

For the fulfillment of global energy demand, the best options are renewable energy sources due to their ease of availability and non-polluting nature. Hybrid system improves the efficiency of the overall system and provides better balance in energy supply. This study proposes a hybrid bat–dragonfly algorithm for providing optimal power flow in the wind–solar system by tuning the controller parameters. Bat algorithm has the featureless computing time with low accuracy, and dragonfly algorithm has the feature of high accuracy with more computing time. The accuracy of the controller tuning gets improved with less computational time by integrating the operations of both bat and dragonfly algorithms. Fuzzy rationale–based maximum power point tracking extracts the maximum power available in wind–solar system. The results show that the proposed hybrid algorithm provides better execution in the tuning of controller parameters compared with the existing optimization methods with a low level of total harmonic distortion. Furthermore, the proposed hybrid bat–dragonfly algorithm outperforms the benchmark optimization algorithms when tested.

Energy is considered as a vital source for financial with social growth activities. It is one amongst fast utilization in commerce, cultivation of domestic activities effectively. This further increases the demand remarkably. It will increase the energy rate. These sources of energy are reliant on climatic circumstances gap that presents in output features like environmental parameters. This suggests improvement of power approaches and plans that are used in the energy system of wind. The wind-turbine process, stability, control techniques, Power Quality (PQ) difficulties are the main concerns for wind farms. Accordingly, previous research proposed optimization techniques and controller to enhance wind energy system by PSO, Genetic Algorithm (GA) etc. This category of GA has many problems like very low convergence and great computational time. In this paper, the optimization is carried out by Modified Genetic Algorithm (MGA) for grid tied wind energy system. MGA delivers a better Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and reduces the time of computation and the obtained results are compared with GA, fuzzy logic control using MATLAB Simulink
  • Solar energy optimization using MPPT controller by maximum conductance method

Increase of load and demand factor on power grids has made supply of electric power to rural areas as a big challenge. The idea of increasing the number of power plants could not be much efficient because it increases the emission of carbon and production cost. Hence use of renewable power sources seems to be much more efficient. The main motive of this proposed work is an efficient design of solar panel for constant Current-Voltage (V-I) characteristics of a Photovoltaic array of various environmental conditions like different irradiance and temperature. A proposed model uses constant environmental condition in combination with actual solar radiation and ambient temperature. The new design is developed on Mat lab-Simulink platform for calculating and analyzing the power output from a PV panel by taking the values of current and voltage with constantly varying solar radiation at any geographical location and different day The output power of solar panel is directly given to dc /dc controller in order to reduce circuit complexity. The estimation of MPP (maximum power point) of a Photovoltaic (PV) array is done by calculating the value of both ampere, voltage and power curves for changing environmental conditions.
