- Synthesis of a Moth and Flame Algorithm for Incorporation into the Architecture of Deceptive Systems with Baits and Traps

This paper proposes a novel method for synthesizing a discrete optimization algorithm based on the moth–flame paradigm for application to the architecture of deceptive systems incorporating decoys and traps. Unlike existing approaches that primarily rely on continuous search spaces or static deception strategies, the proposed method enables the formation of a discrete search space with a coordinate-based representation of deception objects and system states. A spiral search trajectory is synthesized by modeling the dynamic interaction between moths and flames, which allows the algorithm to balance exploration and exploitation effectively and to mitigate premature convergence to local optima. The problem of selecting subsequent operational steps of a deceptive system, which includes the control and reconfiguration of decoys and traps in response to detected events, is formulated as a discrete optimization problem. The objective of this optimization is to increase the effectiveness of cyberattack and malware detection in corporate network environments. The decision variables include the sequence of deception actions, process models, and architectural characteristics of the system, while the constraints are defined by the operational conditions, resource limitations, and structural features of corporate networks. The proposed method supports the identification of an optimal sequence of deception actions under dynamically changing conditions and provides mechanisms for operational adaptation to attacker behavior in real time. This adaptability enables the creation of deceptive systems capable of long-term autonomous operation without continuous administrative intervention, while simultaneously increasing their resistance to adversarial reconnaissance and reverse engineering of their operational principles. The experimental results confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach and demonstrate the potential of integrating population-based optimization algorithms into deceptive system architectures. Comparative analysis shows that the proposed method outperforms its closest competitor, the genetic algorithm, achieving an improvement of 4.82% in terms of the objective function value. Future research directions include deeper integration of population-based optimization methods into decoy-and-trap architectures and the development of a comprehensive framework for organizing their operation in accordance with the proposed conceptual model. Overall, the results contribute to enhancing the cyber-resilience of corporate networks through intelligent, adaptive, and autonomous systems for countering modern cyberattacks and malware. - Control and Decision-Making in Deceptive Multi-Computer Systems Based on Previous Experience for Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure

The paper presents methods for organizing decision-making and the functioning of deceptive multi-computer systems based on prior operational experience and multiple task execution options. A formal representation of system components and their interconnections is developed, distinguishing between the system center and the decision-making controller. The system center prepares possible task execution options, while the decision-making controller evaluates these options considering past performance and selects one. Analytical expressions are proposed to describe processes within multi-computer systems, enabling autonomous decision-making in task execution. A method is developed for organizing the decision-making controller’s operation to ensure the selection of a task option based on prior experience, component security levels, and system topology. This approach allows for the formation of polymorphic responses to external and internal actions in corporate networks. Additionally, a method for organizing system functioning enables systems to adapt their properties, structure, and interconnections in response to functional and cybersecurity conditions. This can be used especially in cybersecurity of critical infrastructure systems like electrical power grids, smart grid infrastructure, energy plants and industrial control systems. A prototype was developed and tested under two scenarios: choosing among five task options and having only one option. Results showed greater operational stability in the first case, confirming that incorporating prior experience enhances resilience and creates polymorphic responses that hinder attackers’ attempts to study and exploit corporate networks. - Development of the social engineering attack models

The detection of polymorphic viruses poses significant challenges due to their ability to modify their structure while retaining malicious functionality. This paper presents a hybrid multi-agent system (MAS) architecture designed for the detection and classification of polymorphic viruses in computer networks. The system consists of specialized agents—Analysis, Propagation Rate, Detection, Classification, and Decision-making agentsythat collaborate to analyze threats, model virus spread, detect infections using diverse methods, classify viruses by complexity levels using fuzzy logic, and apply appropriate mitigation strategies. The effectiveness of the proposed MAS was evaluated using additive and multiplicative performance models, achieving an average efficiency of $\mathbf{9 5. 3 5 \%}$ across varying complexity levels of polymorphic viruses. Experimental results demonstrate the system’s high detection and classification rates, particularly for lower-complexity threats, and validate its potential for deployment in cybersecurity operations.
