Roman Boichuk, Mykola Nosko, Yuliya Nosko, Zhanna Grashchenkova, Iryna Petrenko, et al.
Pedagogy of Physical Culture and Sports, 2024
Background and Study Aim. Coordination skills are an important indicator of success for young athletes in team sports. Therefore, the methods used to monitor these skills should include reliable and valid tests of coordination. The purpose of this study is to identify ways to improve the monitoring of coordination abilities in young basketball players aged 13–14 years. Material and Methods. Basketball players aged 13–14 years participated in the study (n=35, training experience – 3–5 years). Twelve tests were used to assess the level of technical and tactical preparedness of the athletes. The reliability of these tests was evaluated by determining the correlation coefficients between the results of the first test and subsequent tests. The criteria for the informativeness of the tests were based on the experts' rank assessments of the coordination and technical preparedness of young basketball players. A 10-point scale was used for the expert assessment of players' technical skills, with each indicator evaluated from 1 to 10 points. Results. The data obtained indicate that all selected tests demonstrated reliability with correlation coefficients above r = 0.5. Tests assessing muscle effort, adjusting motor activity, sense of rhythm, spatial orientation, and reaction speed showed reliability coefficients sufficient for both individual and group assessments (r > 0.70). Slightly lower reliability coefficients were observed in the time taken to perform individual motor tasks. The validity of the tests was evaluated based on ratings of coordination and technical readiness, as well as overall test battery ratings. In most cases, the validity was not lower than r = 0.3, with some tests exceeding r = 0.5. The correlation coefficient between grades and the total rank score based on the coordination test battery ranged from r = 0.5 to 0.7. The coefficient of concordance showed a high level of agreement among experts regarding the effectiveness of the technical and tactical actions of young basketball players. Conclusions. The conducted study demonstrated the importance of developing and monitoring the coordination abilities of young basketball players during adolescence. The use of several homogeneous tests to assess each individual coordination ability allows for a more reliable evaluation. The need to identify specific types of coordination skills that play a key role in competitive basketball activities has been emphasized. Additionally, the use of a latent indicator in evaluating the coordination abilities of young basketball players will contribute to optimizing a differentiated approach in the training process.

Physical Education Theory and Methodology, 2024
Background. Due to the increase in the proportion of mine-blast injuries sustained during the Russian-Ukrainian war, the number of students in higher education institutions after blast TBI has risen. Objectives. The study aimed to determine the reliability of the tool for test control of gait parameters, created based on software electronic engineering for students after blast TBI in inclusive physical education. Materials and methods. The theoretical stage of the research was realized by analyzing the literature on the studied problem, evaluating and synthesizing information from scientific sources. For the empirical part of the experiment, the Dynamic Gait Index test was used to assess gait parameters, dynamic balance, and fall risk. The test results were processed using the methods of statistical mathematical analysis. The experiment involved 30 students (men) after sustaining an explosive traumatic brain injury. Results. The study presents the developed tool for testing gait parameters using the Dynamic Gait Index, which is based on the integration of various types of software electronic engineering services. The development uses motion, speed, pressure, and touch sensors. The information about the test exercise, recorded by the sensors, is sequentially transmitted by wireless communication means to the controller (Arduino Leonardo based on the ATmega32u4 microcontroller platform) and then to a PC, where the results are displayed on the monitor in digital and graphical form. The development uses a neural network and the Microsoft OneDrive cloud service to process information, which provides processing and storage of large amounts of test control data. The results of the empirical establishment of the Dynamic Gait Index quality measure, the characteristics of reliability and validity that were recorded by the teacher, are significantly inferior in numerical values to the correlation coefficient obtained by the results of the Dynamic Gait Index when the outcomes were recorded using the developed tool. Conclusions. The introduction of modern software engineering services into inclusive physical education of students represents a significant step forward in implementing an impartial control mechanisms for restoring damaged gait and balance functions, which have been recognized as a leading factor in disability caused by blast TBI, and contributes to ensuring the effectiveness of this process.

Pedagogy of Physical Culture and Sports, 2024
Background and Study Aim. Sexual dimorphism plays a crucial role in the design of training programs for athletes. Therefore, understanding the influence of sexual dimorphism on various abilities is essential for optimizing training regimens. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of sexual dimorphism on the manifestation of coordination abilities in young volleyball players aged 15–17. Material and Methods. Volleyball players aged 15–17 years participated in the study (n=92, training experience – 5–7 years). Fifty of them were girls, and forty-two were boys. Motor tests were used to determine the level of coordination preparedness of the volleyball players. The study assessed kinesthetic differentiation, spatial orientation, reaction, coupling, binding of movements, and balance skills. Statistical data processing was carried out using Microsoft Excel and SPSS programs. Results. For most of the compared indicators of coordination abilities, there was no significant difference between male and female volleyball players aged 15–17 (p>0.05). In the “Shuttle run with back forward” test, which determined the ability of volleyball players to quickly rebuild motor activity, boys outperformed girls by 5.6% (p<0.05). In the “Sprint test with the given rhythm”, boys significantly outperformed girls by 16.6% (p<0.001). However, control exercises that determined the relative indicators of the above qualities did not show a significant difference. No significant differences (p>0.05) were found in the indicators that characterized the subjects' ability to demonstrate balance in both groups. Girls outperformed boys by 4.2% in terms of sagittal displacement of the center of mass. Comparison of the magnitude of latent periods of simple and complex visual-motor reaction by groups did not reveal significant differences among boys and girls. Conclusions. The results of the study indicate the need to implement targeted training programs to address and mitigate gender differences in coordination abilities among young volleyball players. These programs should focus on enhancing specific coordination skills. This approach ensures balanced development. Purposeful sports training can help overcome inherent physiological differences. By doing so, it leverages the benefits of tailored training to promote equality in athletic performance.

    Modern Pediatrics Ukraine, 2024
Physical activity plays an important role in the effective health care of adolescents aged 11-14. The peculiarities of the formation of motor skills of adolescents aged 11-14 years do not deny the fundamental principles of the reflexive nature of voluntary exercises. The basic regularities of the reflex theory have not only not lost their significance, but find new confirmation in research on the relationship between the central and executive systems of automated forms of voluntary movements. There is a need to intensify the process of acquiring motor skills of adolescents aged 11-14. Taking into account the individual interests of teenagers, the use of innovative forms and means of forming children’s motor skills will help to more effectively introduce a healthy lifestyle and the formation of motor skills of adolescents 11-14 years old. The aim of the study is to conduct a systematic analysis of scientific sources regarding the medical and social aspects of health care for adolescents aged 11-14 years by optimizing physical activity. Research of medical and social aspects of health care by optimizing the mode of motor activity of adolescents aged 11-14 allows us to state the importance and necessity of involving adolescents in physical education and sports. In the conditions of martial law today, the need for the interest of every teenager in motor activity and its use in general secondary education institutions has been identified. The problem of the health of adolescents aged 11-14 years becomes an important direction in the development of the educational system of a modern school, the purpose of which is physical, mental, and social health. Scientists note that an individual lifestyle is actively formed during adolescence. It is at this stage of growing up that it is important to encourage teenagers to form useful habits, teach them to manage their behavior and, thus, actualize subjectivity in preserving and strengthening health. The authors declare no conflict of interest.

This study aims to substantiate specific methodological approaches for planning coordination training among young female volleyball players, with a keen focus on accommodating the unique intricacies of their developmental journey. Material and Methods. Participants in this study included female volleyball players aged 10 (n=25), 11 (n=20), 12 (n=30), and 13 (n=20). The second phase of the study involved the analysis of four years of observations of female volleyball players aged 14 to 17 (n=24), who were carefully selected from a large pool of young candidates. Prior to their participation, both the children and their parents were provided with detailed information about the study, and informed consent was obtained. In the study, a series of tests were utilized, including “Backward Throw to Target”, “Stepping over a gymnastics stick”, “'Running to numbered balls”, and “Backward Shuttle Run (3x10 m)”. An expert assessment was conducted, involving the participation of highly qualified specialists (n=25). Results. The study has demonstrated a substantial increase in coordination abilities among female volleyball players aged 10 to 17. A significant improvement was observed in kinesthetic differentiation abilities (2.3 times). A somewhat smaller increase was noted in their abilities to coordinate and restructure movements and spatial orientation (1.4-1.6 times). The most pronounced and statistically significant improvements were observed in the age group of 10 to 12 years. Changes in volleyball players aged from 12 to 13 and from 13 to 14 in tests assessing the development of spatial orientation and coordination of movements were less apparent. Motor coordination indicators improved significantly in the age group of 14 to 16. Conclusions. The identification of age-related characteristics in the development of coordination abilities is crucial for implementing the principle of aligning biological development with pedagogical and training methods. Understanding the various ontogenetic stages is essential for effectively managing the long-term athletic development of young female volleyball players.

Pedagogy of Physical Culture and Sports, 2023
Background and Study Aim. In the context of training young female volleyball players, understanding the criteria, extent, and impact of exercises with heightened coordination complexity becomes crucial. This study aims to determine the evaluation criteria, scope, and effects of incorporating exercises with elevated coordination demands on the specific athletic readiness of young female volleyball players aged 13–14 years. Material and Methods. The study involved female volleyball players aged 13–14 years (n=24) with an average of 4 years of professional experience. Participants were divided into a control group (n=12) and an experimental group (n=12). Prior to the study, both children and their parents were thoroughly informed about the research procedures, and parental consent was obtained for participation. The coordination exercises were categorized into five groups, each assigned a complexity rating from 1 to 5. The assessment utilized a battery of tests. Results. The findings reveal that coordination training yielded a more pronounced advancement in the development of various coordination abilities among female volleyball players in the experimental group, as compared to those in the control group. A statistically significant enhancement (p<0.05) was evident across all indices of coordination readiness within the experimental group. In contrast, the control group demonstrated notable progress only in 3 out of 10 instances (p<0.05). In the control group, noteworthy increases (p<0.05) were observed in spatial orientation, motor activity restructuring, and response indicators. Female volleyball players in the experimental group exhibited substantial improvement (p<0.05–0.001) across all indicators of technical readiness, including reception, attack hit, serve, and ball pass. Conversely, the control group players showed comparatively less remarkable changes in this aspect of readiness, with significant enhancement (p<0.05) identified in three parameters. Conclusions. The strategic incorporation of exercises with progressively heightened coordination demands emerges as a valuable approach in substantially enhancing the range of coordination abilities among young female volleyball players. Recognizing this factor provides the means to expedite and optimize the mastery of motor skills more effectively.

Iryna Yunak, Olha Ivashchenko, Mykola Nosko, Yulia Nosko
Physical Education Theory and Methodology, 2022
The purpose of the study was to determine the age-specific features of fundamental movement skills formation in elementary school students.
Materials and methods. The study participants were boys aged 7 to 10 (24 boys aged 7; 28 boys aged 8; 35 boys aged 9; 36 boys aged 10). The children and their parents or legal guardians were fully informed about all the special aspects of the study and all the parents or legal guardians gave their consent thereto. The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University.
The features of teaching 7–10-year-old boys to throw a ball at a vertical target were investigated. The proficiency level in throwing exercises in class was assessed using an alternative method (“performed”, “failed”), the probability of the exercise performance was calculated (p = n/m, where n is the number of successful attempts, m is the total number of attempts). A method of algorithmic instructions was used in teaching boys aged 7 to 10. The study materials were processed by IBM SPSS 20 statistical analysis software. A discriminant analysis was conducted.
Results. It was established that the first canonical function explains 64.5% of the variation in results, while the second one does 34.4%, which indicates their high informativity (r1 = 0.762; r2 = 0.652). The materials of the canonical function analysis show the statistical significance of the first and second canonical functions (λ1 = 0.236; р1 = 0.001; λ2 = 0.5633; р2 = 0.001). The first and second functions have a high discriminative ability and value in interpretation with respect to the general population.
Conclusions. The discriminant analysis made it possible to determine the age-specific features of throwing skills formation in boys aged 7 to 10; answer the questions to which extent the differences in the effectiveness of skills formation in boys aged 7 to 10 are significant; which motor tasks are the most specific to boys aged 7, 8, 9, 10; which class an object belongs to based on the values of discriminant variables.
It was established that the level of proficiency in exercise 4 “Throwing a ball forward-upward standing with the left side to the throwing direction” has the greatest effect on the process of throwing movement skills formation in boys aged 7 to 10. For boys aged 8 to 10, such an exercise is “Throwing a ball forward-upward standing feet apart”, and for boys aged 9 to 10, such an exercise is “Throwing a ball at a target 3 m away”.
