  • ESTABLISHING FIRE PROTECTION PATTERNS IN WOOD USING IMPREGNATION COMPOSITIONS FROM INORGANIC SALTS

    An issue related to using inorganic salts for fire protection of wood is to ensure their flame-inhibiting ability and compatibility with wood and application technology. That is why the object of research was to establish the effectiveness of inhibitory properties of mixtures of inorganic salts during interaction with the flame and enabling interplay with wood. A synergistic increase in the inhibitory capacity of mixtures of aqueous solutions of salts of diammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate at a ratio of 2:1, and for a mixture based on orthophosphoric acid, urea, and oxyethylidenediphosphonic acid in the concentration range of 20–25 % by mass, has been proven. During the interaction of the specified mixtures with the wood surface, it was found that after application to the wood surface, the dispersed component of the free energy of the wood surface decreased to zero; instead, the polar component increased 13 times, which indicates a change in the wood surface. During the tests of wood samples on the effect of the burner flame, it was found that the untreated sample ignited on second 53, and the flame spread throughout the sample for 102 s. On the other hand, the samples treated with a mixture of an aqueous solution of phosphate and ammonium sulfate, as well as a mixture of aqueous solutions based on orthophosphoric acid and urea and oxyethylidenediphosphonic acid, did not catch fire, the flame did not spread over the surface, and the flammability index was 0. The practical significance is that the results were taken into account when designing flame retardant compositions for wood. Thus, there are reasons to assert the possibility of targeted regulation of wood protection processes through the use of mixtures of inorganic salts capable of forming a protective layer on the surface of the material that inhibits the burning of wood

    The article discusses the issues of processing industrial hemp into goods for various functional purposes. Particular attention is paid to the processing of hemp trusts into cellulose-containing semi-finished products, as well as to the analysis of the properties of cellulose-containing fibrous materials obtained from industrial hemp. Based on the results of the study of physical, mechanical and organoleptic characteristics of the obtained cellulose-containing semi-finished products, their suitability for the pulp and paper industry and other sectors of the national economy has been established. The presented research is relevant for the purpose of creating an own raw material base for pulp and paper enterprises and light industry enterprises.

    In modern competitive environment, eco-branding constitutes one of the main prerequisites for the effective development of the country's economy. In an unstable economic situation, the reformatting of Ukrainian society is too inert, while the problems are growing rapidly, which is undoubtedly exploited by dishonest players in the consumer goods market. This study considers the lines of development of Ukrainian and world commodity markets, pointing to the need to develop the market of environmentally friendly products based on oil flax, improving the quality of flax-containing products due to the use of advanced technologies and innovative equipment. The research methodology included the monographic method, comparison, analysis, mathematical planning, and graphic method. It is determined that the main prerequisite for sustainable development of the country in the context of economic globalisation, limited resources, and technology development is the use of eco-branding. To increase the efficiency of processing of fibrous material, a method of processing oilseed flax has been developed, which allows expanding the range of processing products of oilseed flax and to create waste-free technology. A method for obtaining the same type of fibre from bast-fibre crops has been developed, which makes it possible to process oil flax stalks. Prospects for the use of the presented technical and technological developments can contribute to the modernisation of the light industry, its further development, expansion of the Ukrainian market, increase jobs and attract highly qualified specialists in the field, increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian products on the world market

    The paper is devoted to solving problems related to developing scientific bases for resource-saving technologies in bast crops complex processing. The work contains theoretical and experimental research in processing flax and hemp raw materials. The work objective is to find ways to improve the production conditions for processing bast fibre plants and to solve the problems of ameliorating the qualitative and quantitative bast fibre characteristics by improving the technological features of stem material processing and structural design application to the joint connections of the devices for processing bast-fibre raw materials. The paper also analyses current trends in the flax and hemp processing industry development, investigates the technical and technological features of processing bast-fibre crop stems and assesses the directions for increasing their processing efficiency.

    © BEREZOVSKY, Yu.V., 2017 Theory and practice of technical upgrade of factories processing flax raw material, modernization of production, the application of advanced technologies and equipment have been discussed. The results of simulation of cleaning of flax fibers from non-fibrous impurities have been analyzed for various options and configurations of equipment. The possibility and expedience of application of innovative solutions for improving physical and mechanical properties and quality of flax raw material have been proved. The conditions for development of the processing industry in Ukraine and achieving of positive results from processing of stem flax material using innovative processing technologies, advanced technical solutions, and original methods of processing by new equipment have been described.
  • Application of new technical decisions in the industrial flax production

    The use of flax and flax-containing products in the economy and increase in its output require modifying the qualitative and quantitative properties of the flax fiber. The research concerns the features of the effects of timber and other nonfibrous impurities of stem material on the fiber integrity during deformation of plant stems in the flax processing. The modifications in the process equipment for bast raw material processing have been showed to effect the results of stem material treatment, especially, the degree of purity of the obtained fibrous product.
