Investigation of Bioinspired Nanocurcumin Composites for Antibacterial Applications Garima Singh, Reema Rawat, Souradeep Roy, Tapas Goswami, Suvendu Manna, et al. Critical Reviews in Therapeutic Drug Carrier Systems, 2026 Curcumin is the main curcuminoid present in turmeric (<i>Curcuma longa</i>). Various studies have shown that curcumin has excellent antimicrobial properties and enhances the wound healing process. Herein, this study we have made an attempt to synthesis and to explore the antibacterial efficacy of two different materials: curcumin reduced graphene oxide (C-rGO) and nano curcumin reduced graphene oxide composite (NC-rGO). These materials were further characterized, and their antibacterial potency was checked against Escherichia coli. According to microstructural characterization the C-rGO composite had a sheet-like uneven structure, whereas NC-rGO composite had spherical morphology. The presence of O-H group in both the composites was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared analysis. The zone of inhibition of C-rGO was 9.5 &#177; 0.47 mm whereas the zone of inhibition of NC-rGO was 11 &#177; 0.6 mm. These results indicate that NC-rGO might be used as an antibacterial agent in ointments and dressing bandages to prevent any secondary infection.
An Improved & Smart Clock Synchronisation Model for Emblematic IoT Applications Divya Upadhyay, Ashwani Kumar Dubey Eai Endorsed Transactions on Internet of Things, 2025 The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized modern living by facilitating seamless data exchange between interconnected devices across diverse applications such as healthcare, smart cities, and industrial automation. These devices operate in dynamic and distributed environments, where accurate timekeeping is crucial for synchronizing processes, ensuring reliable communication, and maintaining data consistency. Clock synchronization plays a critical role in coordinating the activities of IoT entities, especially when processing and communication require precision. To address challenges associated with synchronization errors, this paper introduces a novel clock synchronization algorithm grounded in linear quadratic regression. By leveraging a linear model to estimate clock parameters such as skew and offset, the algorithm improves the reliability and accuracy of time synchronization in IoT networks. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was evaluated using key statistical metrics, including R-Square and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The results demonstrated the superiority of the algorithm, achieving an R-Square error value of 0.71% and an RMSE of 0.379%, outperforming traditional synchronization methods. Furthermore, the stability and robustness of the model were validated through a correlation coefficient analysis, which revealed a strong correlation of 86% between the variables. These findings underscore the algorithm's potential to significantly reduce synchronization errors, thereby enhancing the efficiency and reliability of IoT applications. By addressing a critical challenge in IoT communication, this research contributes to the advancement of time-sensitive applications and underscores the importance of innovative synchronization mechanisms in the growing IoT ecosystem.
A unique morpho-feature extraction algorithm for medicinal plant identification Ashwani Kumar Dubey, Jibi G. Thanikkal, Puneet Sharma, Manoj Kumar Shukla Expert Systems, 2025 An image is a set of numbers arranged in matrix form. The image feature extraction algorithm converts the input image into different numerical forms to extract the useful information from the input image and the selection of appropriate feature extraction algorithm is crucial for medicinal plant identification. In medicinal plants, the leaves are an available important resource of morphological features. Botanists use these morphological features of leaf images for medicinal plant identification. The existing leaf‐based medicinal plant identification strategies include shape, colour and texture features. In these methods, environmental factors directly influence the features and hence, the impact can be observed in the accuracy of the result. To overcome these limitations, we have proposed a unique morpho‐feature extraction algorithm (UMFEA) for accurate identification of medicinal plants. The UMFEA includes three sub‐algorithms for shape, apex, base, and vein features extraction. The proposed UMFEA is tested over Flavia, Swedish, Leaf and our databases. The performance comparison of UMFEA is done on different databases and the results obtained were remarkably good.
Deep learning based identification of aquatic and semi aquatic plants Ashwani Kumar Dubey, Jibi G. Thanikkal Expert Systems, 2025 Botanists use morphological features of leaves for aquatic and semi‐aquatic plants identification. In deep learning, the convolution process is efficacious to label images. Existing studies showed that, in deep learning‐based leaf identification, direct image pixel values are used. Leaf images have similar sizes and almost equal pixel values. So, the pixel‐based leaf naming procedure makes uncertainty in the feature results. The direct evaluation of image pixels for leaf image identification is not an effective method, because it is leading to a forgetting problem in continuous learning. Using the pre‐processed databases, researchers are achieving more than 99% accurate results using deep learning. However, the same model fails to reproduce the same result in databases. In this study, morphological features of aquatic and semi‐aquatic plant leaves are converted into digital descriptors to avoid uncertainty in the feature results. In this digital descriptor‐based deep learning method, morphological features of aquatic and semi‐aquatic plant leaves are used. This is equivalent to Botanists' morphological features‐based leaf identification technology. Morphological feature extraction and digital descriptor generation helped this model to achieve 95% accuracy. In this model, leaf morphological features are used for training, so this help to understand the leaf properties of other leaf databases.
