Synthesis and Catalytic Application of Homoleptic Bis(triazol-5-ylidene)-Silver Complexes Hugo Omar Quezada-Márquez, Emmanuel Campos-Dominguez, Leonardo Kaleb Méndez-Jiménez, Daniel Mendoza-Espinosa Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society, 2026 Treatment of 1,2,3-triazolium salts with equimolar amounts of silver oxide (in presence of potassium hexafluorophosphate) generates a series of bis-triazol-5-ylidene silver(I) complexes with the general formula [(MIC)2Ag]PF6 (MIC = triazol-5-ylidene). The new biscarbenic species have been fully characterized including FT-IR and NMR spectroscopies, melting points, and elemental analysis. The catalytic performance of the silver(I) complexes in the solvent free KA2 (ketone-alkyne-amine) coupling for the generation of propargylic amines and the A3 coupling (aldehyde, amine, alkyne) is investigated.
Preparation and applications of metal complexes supported by fluorene- and anthrone-functionalized (bis)mesoionic 1,2,3-triazol-5-ylidenes Emmanuel Campos-Dominguez, Francisco J. Ruiz-Mendoza, David Rendón-Nava, Mariana Flores-Jarillo, Alejandro Álvarez-Hernández, Daniel Mendoza-Espinosa New Journal of Chemistry, 2025 We report the facile preparation of a novel series of fluorene- and anthrone-derived (bis)triazolium salts and their use as precurors for the synthesis of their corresponding (bis)triazol-5-ylidene silver( i ) and palladium( ii ) complexes.
Heteroleptic (NHC/MIC) Biscarbene Ag(I) and Au(I) Complexes: Synthesis, Characterization and Catalytic Applications Francisco J. Ruiz‐Mendoza, Emmanuel Campos‐Dominguez, M. Guadalupe Torres‐Salazar, Alejandro Álvarez‐Hernández, Daniel Mendoza‐Espinosa Chempluschem, 2025 A series of hetero‐biscarbene silver(I) and gold(I) complexes of the general formula [NHC‐M–MIC]PF6 (NHC=imidazol‐2‐ylidene, MIC=1,2,3‐triazol‐5‐ylidene) have been prepared via the treatment of NHC‐M‐Cl precursors in reaction with an in situ generated mesoionic carbene (MIC). The new heteroleptic complexes have been fully characterized including NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, melting points and single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The silver(I) derivatives were employed successfully in the solvent free KA2 (ketone‐alkyne‐amine) coupling for the preparation of a series of quaternary carbon‐containing propargyl amines while, the gold(I) biscarbenes, demonstrated a good performance in the A3 (aldehyde, amine, alkyne) coupling and the benzylic oxidation processes under low catalyst loadings.
Synthesis and Catalytic Application of Ru(II) Complexes Supported by Zwitterionic Triazol(in)ium-5-dithiocarboxylates (MIC·CS2) and Isothiocyanates (MIC·CSNPh) Amador Flores-Ávila, Emmanuel Campos-Dominguez, Adi J. Martínez-Martell, Francisco J. Ruiz-Mendoza, Cesar I. Sandoval-Chávez, Daniel Mendoza-Espinosa Organometallics, 2024 In recent years, NHC-derived zwitterions [NHC·CS(X)] (X = S and NR) have gained a great deal of attention owing to their various applications in fields such as organic synthesis, organometallics, and more recently in catalysis. In this work, we report that the reaction of free triarylated triazol-5-ylidenes (MIC) with equimolar amounts of dithiocarboxylate and isothiocyanate derivatives allows for the preparation of a series of MIC·SC 2 and MIC·CSNAr zwitterions in good yields. Their potential as ligands for transition metals was demonstrated by the synthesis of ruthenium(II) complexes with the general formulas [RuCl( p -cymene)(MIC·CS 2 )]PF 6 and [RuCl( p -cymene)(MIC·CNSAr)]PF 6 . The zwitterions and the ruthenium complexes were fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, TGA, and elemental analysis. The new ruthenium complexes were successfully applied as catalysts in the transfer hydrogenation of a series of aldehydes and ketones showing good efficiency under low catalyst loadings and providing excellent conversions.
Gold(I) complexes bearing ring-fused benzoxazine-derived triazolylidenes and their use in C–N bond-forming processes Emmanuel Campos‐Dominguez, Jose Vasquez‐Perez, Susana Rojas‐Lima, Heraclio Lopez‐Ruiz, Daniel Mendoza‐Espinosa Applied Organometallic Chemistry, 2021 We report the synthesis and full characterization of a novel series of ring‐fused benzoxazine‐derived triazolium salts (1a–c) and their corresponding triazolylidene gold(I) complexes (2a–c). All new compounds were fully characterized by means of 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses, and mass spectroscopy and in the case of triazoliums 1a and 1b by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The new triazolylidene gold complexes (2a–c) were tested as precatalysts in the hydroamination and hydrohydrazination of terminal alkynes employing aniline derivatives and hydrazine as nitrogen sources, respectively.
