Acdi Anuario Colombiano De Derecho Internacional, 2026 This article investigates the legal status and unique characteristics of digital assets within the context of international arbitration. With the rise of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts, digital assets have become an integral part of the global economy; however, their decentralized and anonymous nature poses significant challenges for existing arbitration standards. The study examines the applicability of international arbitration standards, such as the New York Convention and uncitral Model Law, to disputes involving digital assets and proposes adaptations to enhance dispute resolution. The article addresses jurisdiction, confidentiality, and data protection issues; it provides examples of arbitration cases, and offers recommendations for improving law enforcement practices. The findings lay the foundation for developing legal mechanisms that ensure the legitimacy and predictability of arbitration processes involving digital assets.
