  • Study the effect of laser nozzle and lens design on the oxygen supply system for CNC Gas cutting machines
Mohammed Salih Hassan, Haideer Talib Shomran, Jabbar A. Jaber
    Key Engineering Materials, 2020
The process of laser cutting by (Nozzle C 20E) can detect the roughness of the surface from the upper side, while laser cutting by (Nozzle C30E) have less roughness detection according to the ability of constant speed with different metal thickness. The width of the Kerf and surface roughness are the most factors which needs for focusing during cutting process for various plate cutting operation by CNC machine. Such machines require oxygen and propane or acetylene gases with proper pressure controls. For the gas cutting machine, the volume of oxygen gas used is more than that of propane gas. The oxygen gas is used for heating and cutting the plates. It is necessary to supply the proper amount and quality of gas to the machine to obtain a good cutting quality surfces. However; the pressure of oxygen gas depends upon the thickness of cutting plates. Stainless steel is the most important metals in the industrial and manufacturing process, so the cutting conditions are very important. Its concluded from our result, that the characteristics of the main selecting factors which effects the laser machine performance such as, the focal lens nozzle height (0.6 to 1.0mm) and the ability and speed of cutting should be fixed and not changing.
  • Studies on the Steel Reinforcement Performance in Presence of NaCl: Effects of Salt Concentration and Temperature

Iop Conference Series Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
The present study is to evaluate the performance of steel reinforcement under NaCl concentration chloride exposure. The loss of weight, yield stress and ultimate stress were tested to evaluate the performance of steel reinforcement before and after exposure. The exposure was also repeated under a variable temperature of (50, 60 and 70 C0). The steel was treated to improve its properties by using hardening in the oxy-acetylene torch, epoxy coating and aluminium spread coating. Results showed that the reduction in reinforcement properties was reduced significantly by using the hardening method and the maximum reduction in the performance of steel reinforcement was in the higher temperature chloride exposure. The increasing of concentration (0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 NaCl %) was due to high corrosion in steel wire. The results showed that the treatment of reinforcement was significantly improved.
  • Investigation of Solid State Reaction in the Nanolaminate - Carbides in the Ternary
    Jawad K. A AL-Rifaie, Jabbar A. Jaber, Mohammed A. Nasser
Iop Conference Series Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
The main goal of this work is to contribute towards the basic understanding required to realize synthesis the MAX phases in bulk at high temperature. The phase stability of three different MAX phase systems Ti-Al-C, Cr-Al-C and V-Al-C has been investigated along this line. High purity powders were used as raw materials. They were mixed and then compacted under the pressure of 20 MPa. The compacted mixture was heated in an (Ar) atmosphere at a temperature range of (1000 - 1400) °C for (2-4) h. Finally, the sample was cooled down to room temperature. X-ray diffraction indicates that systems show a direct formation of MAX phase under these conditions. The SEM and optical microscopy results were used to confirm the structural features of the ternary phases and the less segregation or agglomeration. The results of sintering temperatures versus final density were discussed in terms of physical prthe operties evaluation and hardness to indicating the mechanical properties. Finally, the differential scanning calorimetric results, over the range of 25 to 650 ºC show that the reactions in all systems related directly to the Al melting point. It is obvious that the reactions in all these systems started at ∼600 ºC which may support this attitude. It is expected to contribute towards a better basic understanding of this fascinating class of solids. Furthermore, we try to evaluate the here-proposed novel low-temperature synthesis for other Mn+1AXn systems. This may release a new synthesis route for the mass production of materials with rather unique properties
