Energy optimization using silicon dioxide composite and analysis of wire electrical discharge machining characteristics M.S. Kumaravel, N. Alagumurthi, P. Mathiyalagan Hybrid Intelligent Approaches for Smart Energy Practical Applications, 2022 This article presents a report on the production of a composite matrix of Aluminium (Al), hardened by 10% wt industrial waste of ceramic silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ). A stir casting method was used to produce the uniform distribution of SiO 2 particles in an aluminium matrix composite (AMC) and this has been confirmed by micro structural analysis. The XRD pattern reveals that the SiO 2 has a monoclinic crystalline structure. The surface morphology of aluminium metal matrix composite was identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) carried out the machining operation on 10 mm thickness of AMC work piece based on Taguchis L9 orthogonal array. Process limits influencing the metal removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (Ra) were tested by means of pulse on time, pulse off time, and current, respectively. Significant process limits were achieved by analysis of variance (ANOVA) using the grey relational analysis (GRA) that showed the most important factor.
