    This study discusses tsunami disaster mitigation on Sanur Beach, Bali, Indonesia—one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, but also prone to natural disasters such as tsunamis. To effectively protect both residents and visitors, a structured mitigation plan is essential. This research developed such a plan using the best-first search algorithm, with Sanur Beach as a case study. Evacuation routes were mapped considering tourist positions, local roads, and designated assembly points. Three evacuation zones were identified: High-Risk Zone, Low-Risk Zone, and Safe Zone. The multimedia system developed provides evacuation route guidance from crowded tourist areas. Estimated evacuation times range from 10 to 27 minutes to the Low-Risk Zone and 25 to 60 minutes to the Safe Area Zone.
  • Safety Engineering in Adaptive Multimedia System Design for Emergency Accessibility Based on WCAG

    People with disabilities often face critical challenges in accessing timely and comprehensive emergency alerts. This study presents an adaptive multimedia system that uses safety engineering principles using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Based on WCAG, the system was created to meet visual, auditory, and tactile output requirements based on user profiles and environmental conditions. The system inputs are fed through the Internet of Things (IoT) and processed by a rule-based adaptation engine. The emergency adaptive system combines environmental data, user health, and manual input to generate appropriate multimedia alerts (audio, visual, or vibration). A prototype was built using React/Tailwind for the user interface and integrated with sensors for environmental monitoring. The system was evaluated in an emergency scenario on 32 participants including groups of people with visual, hearing, cognitive, and multiple disabilities. The evaluation results showed a high average system usability scale (SUS) score of 86.2, indicating excellent usability. The average Accessibility Coverage Metric (ACM) score was also obtained at 0.89, indicating broad and inclusive modality support. Based on the experiments, the Adaptive Decision Function (ADF) score exceeded 0.90 for combinations such as visual with vibration and audio output. This shows strong adaptive performance under various conditions. These results demonstrate the potential of the system to improve the inclusiveness of emergency response for people with disabilities.

    Physics education is often associated with abstract and difficult concepts. This perception leads to low student motivation and learning desire. Traditional physics teaching methods occasionally hinder effective learning and fail to clearly convey complex physics concepts. Even standard multimedia learning approaches often remain ineffective in increasing student engagement and improving the effectiveness of physics instruction. This study aims to develop better physics teaching methods to enhance students’ learning outcomes, motivation, and critical thinking skills using multi-sensory media (mulsemedia). The research methodology uses a quasi-experimental design involving two student groups: a control group that received traditional teaching and an experimental group taught using multi-sensory media. The mulsemedia approach combines visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, along with student engagement surveys. The experimental group showed significant improvements across several metrics. From pre-test to post-test, the experimental group showed a performance increase of 27.7 percentage points (post-test score: 82.4%) compared to the control group’s 10.5 percentage point improvement (post-test score: 65.8%). Additionally, 87% of students in the experimental group reported strong involvement, compared to 42% in the control group, indicating significantly increased student engagement. The experimental group also demonstrated better critical thinking abilities in problem-solving activities, outperforming the control group by 78% to 51%. This study concludes that multi-sensory media significantly improves learning outcomes, student motivation, and critical thinking skills in physics learning. Further research is recommended to explore the application of multi-sensory media in various science subjects and other educational levels, as well as examining its long-term impact on learning and cognitive development. To increase practical contribution, future studies should examine the use of low-cost equipment for schools with limited access to technology.
  • DEVELOPMENT OF ADAPTIVE CONGESTION CONTROL MECHANISM FOR REAL-TIME MULTIMEDIA STREAMING IN VARIABLE NETWORK CONDITION

    This research focuses on real-time multimedia streaming using RTP and RTCP protocols. The main issue addressed is that standard RTP/RTCP congestion control is inadequately adapted to changing and unstable network conditions, resulting in increased packet loss, end-to-end latency, unstable bitrates, and poor video quality. A dynamic bandwidth-adaptive congestion control mechanism was developed for RTP streaming, which utilizes RTCP feedback to dynamically change the bitrate and framerate in real time during the streaming session. Controlled experiment results show that average packet loss decreases from 8.2% to 3.4%; end-to-end latency decreases from an average of 220 ms to 135 ms; and provides a more stable average bitrate than standard RTP/RTCP systems. Furthermore, this system also provides a more stable average framerate than standard RTP/RTCP systems and a higher average framerate under poor network conditions. This result can be attributed to the ability of the adaptive mechanism to continuously monitor packet loss, interference, and delays in addition to reacting immediately to conditions instead of waiting for RTCP reports to appear at fixed time intervals. A key point regarding the proposed design is the integration of bitrate and framerate to ensure smooth playback and user enjoyment with reduced risk of interruption and improved stability in dynamic and unpredictable network environments. This contribution can be practically applied in real-time applications, such as video conferencing, telemedicine, or live streaming while traversing mobile or wireless networks where conditions are always dynamic and unpredictable. The proposed method can be practically applied under unfavorable internet network conditions, which is an advantage of this method
