The Leader Medical Audit in Hospital Routine Resource Rita de Cássia Cerqueira de Paula, Chennyfer Dobbins Abi Rached, Márcia Mello Costa De Liberal Journal of Health Management, 2023 The 2017 annual review in several health sectors highlighted the importance of medical auditing, based on the analysis of accounts, extensions with pertinent discussions between external and internal auditor, concurrent audit, using medicine based on evidence to reduce costs and guarantee the quality of services provided. The article is justified by the scarcity of academic studies that link Health Economics with the implementation of internal audits, as it is a subject little explored by scientific research yet. The study consists in bibliographic research on the most recent publications that address the theoretical and practical concepts related to the implementation of Strategic Sourcing programs in the field of health in large hospitals of high and medium complexity. It is necessary to define the role of the health auditor as the professional who will help managers to see the medical bill based on the value in health and not only in the cut in hospital expenses. Studies of the possible outcomes aimed at comprehensive health care, auditors are required to control costs. This information helps in the search for the most effective way to meet specific needs in terms of service, focusing on maximising human and material resources available.
Leadership and Benefits of Physical Activity for Elderly People with Diabetes Mellitus Camila Duarte De Mello, Chennyfer Dobbins Abi Rached, Márcia Mello Costa De Liberal Universal Journal of Public Health, 2023 Aging is a physiological process that presents an increase in the incidence and prevalence of chronic degenerative diseases, including diabetes. This study is relevant given the increase in life expectancy at a global level. The main objective of this study is to show the benefits of physical activity for the elderly, especially those with diabetes mellitus. The methodology used to carry out the research was based on retrospective studies based on bibliographic research, namely, the investigation of theoretical material on the subject. The main result obtained has shown that the regular practice of physical exercises provides health and prevents the complications of diabetes in the elderly, in addition to providing healthier aging and improving self-esteem, due to the increase in muscle strength, cardiopulmonary reserve, balance, and flexibility, thus contributing to the maintenance of autonomy and independence of this older population. Physical activity also helps in the control of hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia in these individuals who are always associated with diabetes mellitus, thus contributing to the reduction of the risk of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly with this metabolic pathology. Physical activities are also responsible for the social integration of the elderly.
Overview of lymphoma diagnosis in Brazilian public health system patients: Open data analysis for health care planning Denise Pires Martins, Nelson Francisco Correa-Netto, Nina Melo, Sandra Regina Loggetto, Marcia Mello Costa de Liberal Hematology Transfusion and Cell Therapy, 2022 INTRODUCTION: Knowing the information regarding the panorama of lymphoma diagnosis in patients treated in the Brazilian Public Unified Health System from the last 10 years is a challenge for Strategic Health Planning. OBJECTIVE: To characterize the Brazilian population with lymphoma treated in the Brazilian Public Unified Health System between 2008 and 2017 regarding staging, sex, residence site and mortality. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A descriptive, retrospective, and longitudinal trial with secondary data from DataSUS (SIA/SUS and SIM/SUS) obtained from patients with ICD-10 C81-85. RESULTS: There were 70,850 lymphoma cases between 2008 and 2017, of which 55% were male, the median age was 51 years, and 27% had Hodgkin Lymphoma. Most patients (56%) were treated outside the residence city. São Paulo State accounted for 25% of patients. Treatment initiation took more than 60 days in 27% of cases. A total of 45,601 deaths were due to lymphoma (12% Hodgkin Lymphoma and 88% Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma), with a median age 63 years, and were mainly males (55%). Staging data were inadequate in 23% of patients, and analysis was performed only on the valid records. Advanced disease was diagnosed in 58% of patients (60% male; 57% female) and was more common in Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (62%) versus Hodgkin Lymphoma (49%). DISCUSSION: Late diagnosis interferes with mortality rates. Health promotion and cancer prevention campaigns, especially targeting the male public, and training for early diagnosis and early treatment are needed. CONCLUSION: Effective measures for early diagnosis and treatment are urgently needed for lymphoma control.
Analysis of Managers’ Perception Regarding the Use of Traceability Tools in the Context of Brazilian Health Emerson P. Vidal, Márcia M. C. De Liberal, Paola Zucchi Inquiry United States, 2021 Our society has advanced in terms of technology, and health could not be different. Despite the benefits and advantages that such improvements entail, it is unknown what contributions have been added to the hospital environment and whether such technological engineering has managed to generate value and adapt to different factors within such institutions’ professional culture to establish relevance to the base of utilitarian nature. The use of tools can be conditioned to the view that the managerial sectors have such instruments. The work aims to identify and understand the perception that health managers have traceability tools such and their view on their efficiency and effectiveness in the hospital environment. The results direct us that the traceability tools have a significant expression in the hospital context, collaborating for efficiency and efficacy. Traceability tools can help the entire health system to be more uniform in service, in accountability, and in inspection processes.
