  • Mapping the Landscape of Street Food Research: A PRISMA-Guided Bibliometric Review

    Street food has experienced considerable growth, particularly in developing countries, and has become an important component of destination marketing and the tourist experience. Its increasing popularity has attracted significant interest from researchers across various fields, including tourism and marketing. Guided by the PRISMA framework, this study examines the structure and evolution of the street food research landscape through a bibliometric approach. A total of 186 articles from the Dimensions database were analyzed using VOSviewer software. The analysis encompassed author networks, influential journals, contributing countries and institutions, and thematic keyword clusters. The findings reveal substantial growth in research on this topic, with Indonesia, India, and Turkey emerging as key contributors. Major journals publishing research on street food include the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the British Food Journal. Vikas Gupta and Raj Kumar Gupta are among the most active researchers in this area. Thematic analysis identifies three main clusters: cultural and tourism studies, marketing and consumer behavior, and behavioral theories and intentions.

  • An empirical study of impact of customer retention policies on users followed by telecom companies

    The objective of this study was to examine the effects of customer retention policies followed by various telecom companies in India. In the modern day, rivalry exists throughout each industry or subject. Therefore, the company must preserve its positive reputation. In light of something similar, the company consistently seeks to draw or keep customers to its identity and offerings by stepping up marketing operations that directly or indirectly impact its development and advancement in a cutthroat industry. For the analysis, the study surveyed 200 telecom customers, including mobile operators and DTHs, to determine their views regarding consumer retention policies and set some parameters against which the survey was conducted.The study revealed that the policy of minimizing attrition affects customer retention in the mobile telecom sector. All these strategies help organizations retain existing consumers and attract potential consumers in one way. This study elaborates the conceptual background and definitions of customer retention, importance, key determinants and strategies for consumer retention and examines the effect and role of consumer retention in telecommunication and the scope of consumer retention in the telecom sector.

  • Mapping the research trends of halal tourism: A bibliometric approach

    The concept of Halal tourism is emerging and it is coming up as a new segment of tourism. This study is carried out to study the scholarly trends in this segment. The study analyses the data collected from Dimensions database and analysed using VOSviewer. The study puts forth that the publication trends in Halal tourism segment are on an upward trajectory and has grown upto 15 times from 2016 to 2022. ‘Journal of Islamic Marketing' is the most productive journal and Mohamed Battour is the most productive author. While studying the most influential documents, the study puts forth that the majority of the most influential studies are based on the concept of Halal tourism. It reflects that the Halal tourism research is still at the growing stage. Marketing and the linkage of Halal tourism are the emerging research trends as suggested by the keyword analysis.
  • Rural tourism in Himachal Pradesh in transition: Challenges for regional sustainability

    To enhance the functioning of tourism, rural tourism plays a crucial role by involving the local community and creating alternative sources of income and employment in agricultural areas and mountainous (tribal) regions. This study aims to examine the state of rural tourism in Himachal Pradesh, utilizing document analysis, qualitative interviews with various focus groups, and engaging stakeholders in discussions. Recent challenges and trends in rural tourism in Himachal Pradesh were also assessed. Furthermore, the study evaluated the current marketing structure of Himachal Pradesh concerning rural tourism products. The key findings of this research highlight the need to establish a comprehensive framework for rural tourism at both the state and national levels, focusing on general guidelines and strategic aspects of rural tourism. Additionally, it suggests the implementation of integrated provisions in marketing and regional legislation, developed in close collaboration with local stakeholders.

  • Bibliometric review of scholarly work on service quality and customer satisfaction in hotels

    Service quality and customer satisfaction are the most sought-after research topics among marketing scholars. The study performs a bibliometric analysis of service quality and customer satisfaction in hotel research over a decade (2013-2022). The data for the study were extracted from Dimensions.ai using the search string "Service quality" AND "Customer satisfaction" AND "Hotel". A total of 231 articles meeting the criteria were analysed, and it was found that research in this field has grown year on year. Citation analysis revealed that Lujun Su, Scott R. Swanson and Xiaohong Chen are the most influential authors, and Tourism Management is the most influential journal. A keyword analysis was also called of the abstract text.
  • Application of 5R's of Sustainability in Hotel Industry

    The hotel industry is shifting its perspective towards eco-friendly practices and designing and implementing applications that are environmentally-friendly. However, hotels’ considerations of refuse, reuse, reduce, recycle, and repurpose (5R’s of environmental sustainability) is not abundant in their policies. The present study has examined the implementation of the 5R’s of sustainability in the hotel industry in a selected area of Rajasthan. According to a thorough review of the literature, no research is has been conducted on the application of 5R’s in five-star, four-star, and three-star hotels in the state of Rajasthan. The data was collected using questionnaire containing ten questions and was analysed using using mean, analysis of variance (ANOVA), leaner regression and F-Test with the help of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). The results suggest hotels have been performing well on the aspects studied except for variations of reduce.
