    In this study, the impact of titanium (Ti) on low-alloy steel alloys is examined, focusing on the mechanical properties of the alloy with varying Ti content levels. Heat treatment was conducted to enhance the mechanical properties and performance indicators of the casting samples. The elemental volume distribution mapping and microstructure analysis of the research samples were performed using SEM - Carl Zeiss Ultra Plus Field Emission. Subsequently, the hardness and wear resistance characteristics of samples containing Ti contents of 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, and 1.1 were evaluated post heat treatment. Notably, steel samples containing 0.3% and 0.5% Ti, exhibiting structures of ferrite, martensite, and limited bainite, demonstrated superior hardness and wear resistance properties. Abrasive wear resistance tests were conducted using a specialized device with a horizontal diamond disc. The primary objective of this research is to introduce the developed technology for the rolling mill rolls at a prominent metal manufacturing enterprise in the republic, resulting in enhanced economic efficiency through increased production volume. Consequently, achieving a hardness of HB 323 and improving wear resistance by 1.2 times were notable outcomes of the study.
  • Improving the technology of obtaining highquality castings from steel in sand-clay molds

    This article examines the technology for producing high-quality steel and alloy castings in sand-clay molds. The optimization of the sandclay compound mold composition is explored, focusing on bentonite and kaolin clays as binders. The mold composition is refined based on the research conducted on these binding clays, resulting in the production of gas-free cast products. Additionally, the gas permeability of the sand-clay molds increased by 14-16%. The study also presents a test analysis of the gas permeability property, a crucial aspect of sand-clay mold quality. Furthermore, a mathematical model of the process was developed from the research findings to predict gas permeability values with varying amounts of binding clays, eliminating the need for further testing.
  • DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY FOR OBTAINING THIN-WALLED DETAILS FROM GRAY CAST IRON IN SAND-CLAY MOULDS

    - In this article, the technology of casting thin-walled details into sand-clay molds has been developed based on the analysis of existing problems in casting detail manufacturing enterprises. In order to increase the liquid fluidity and hardness properties of G24 gray cast iron alloy, the technology of adding modifiers to the liquid alloy in the furnace and outside the furnace was developed. In addition, the composition of the sand-clay mold material and the technology of the processes of pouring the liquefied gray cast iron alloy into the mold were developed. Also, the technologies of using models made of modern ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) material have been improved in obtaining casting details of thin-walled parts in a sand-clay mold. Microstructural images of gray cast iron alloy samples cast on the basis of the used technologies were obtained and interpreted. As a result of the introduction of the developed technologies, it was possible to obtain high-quality thin-walled details. Based on the developed technologies and the modifiers included in the liquid alloy, the service life of cast thin casting has increased by 1.3 times.
  • Mathematical Modeling of the Effect of TiC Nanopowder Particles on the Wear Resistance Properties of Low-Alloy Steel

    In this article, the effect of TiC nanopowder particles on the wear resistance of low-alloy steel 35XGCL (analog is JIS G 5111) is mathematically modeled. First of all, the composition for liquefaction in an electric arc furnace was calculated. 5 and 10% TiC nanopowder particles were added to the alloy as a modifier before pouring liquid metal into the ladle. This process was performed before pouring the liquid metal from the furnace into the ladle. 15% of TiC was added in the furnace as a modifier. Lagrangian interpolation polynomial construction was used in this modeling. The amount of wear resistance was calculated by polynomial expression of the function with determination of unknown coefficients. The results obtained on the basis of the developed model were compared with case studies. The results of the analysis are shown by graphs.
  • Improvement of the Technology of Melting of Low Alloy Steel Alloy in an Electric Arc Furnace

    This article presents the optimal method of melting the 35XGCL (analog is JIS G 5111) low alloy steel alloy in DSP-2.0 2000 kg electric arc furnace. All the main stages of melting in an electric arc furnace are considered. In addition, analytical data on the study of the slag mode during the fluidization of the alloy are presented. The results of the evaluation of oxygen activity in metal depending on the chemical composition of slag oxidation and reduction cycles in the furnace are presented. Graphs of oxygen activity in the alloy depending on the total amount of iron, silicon, and manganese oxides in the slag are presented. Moreover, the effect of constant and additional deoxidizing aluminum content in the alloy on the impact strength of low alloy steel alloy is presented. The impact strength is improved when the constant aluminum content is in the range of 0.05-0.07%.
