Properties of organic green spinach dye as a substitute for harmful chemical green dye Suma H AL-Shaikh Hussin Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2021 Preparation of an environmentally friendly organic green dye, an alternative to the harmful industrial chemical green dye which is used to optical and industrial applications. The dye is extracted from spinach plant by solvent extraction process. The optical and morphological characterizations of green spinach dye are measurements, the absorbance spectrum of green spinach accord in visible region and the dye have two peaks at wavelengths (λ1=440 nm, λ2=685 nm) where the band gap energy is Eg=2.81 eV at λ1 and the refractive index of spinach dye (n=1.36682). The fluorescence spectrum show the maximum absorption wavelength λ1, λ2 shifted towers red region about Δλ1=90 nm and Δλ2=195 nm respectively, and that accentuated the absorption region are extend to the dye. Also, the average particles size of spinach measured by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)=59.587 nm. These characterizations obtained the green dye can used in optical and industrial applications and made it a safer alternative for the toxic chemical green dye and thus protecting the environment by replacing polluting industrial chemical and their consequences.
Primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) use as self-cleaning paints with layer of titanium dioxide Suma H. Al-Shaikh Hussin Baghdad Science Journal, 2019 Transparent nano- coating was prepared by Sol-Gel method from titanium dioxide TiO2 which has the ability to self-cleaning coating used for hospitals, laboratories, and places requiring permanent sterilization. Three primary colors are selected (red, blue, and yellow) as preliminary study to the effect of these colors on the nano-coating. Three traditional oil paints color were used as base, then coated by a layer of TiO2-Sol and deposited on the paints. The optical properties of TiO2-Sol were measured; the maximum absorption wavelength at (λmax=387 nm), the refractive index (n=1.4423) and the energy band gap (Eg=3.2 eV). The structure properties found by X-ray diffraction of TiO2-Sol illustrated that TiO2-Sol is polycrystalline nanoparticle have anatase phase also the morphological properties measured by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) obetained the average grain size of TiO2-Sol was (50.427 nm). Self-cleaning properties measured by tensiometer dives. The best color gave the highest response to self-cleaning is the yellow color where the contact angle before exposure to UV ( = 101.47º ,at t = 0 min) and after exposure over time ( = 1.75º ,at t = 50 min), thus the water sheet of the surface and remove all contaminants.

Improve the performance efficiency of solar cell by using epoxy plates doped with Rhodamine 6G dye B. Daram Indian Journal of Science and Technology, 2011 In this study the Luminescent Solar Concentrator (LSC) plates have been prepared with different thickness and concentration of dye Rhodamine 6G, by dissolving R6G dye in epoxy resin directly without dissolving the dye into a solvent first. This step of solving is the first of solving dye directly without any solvent used to solve the dye. The optical properties of dye doped and undoped epoxy and its applicability in solar cell were studied too. By using these plates on the solar cells, it was observed an increase in the solar cell efficiency up to 63.9% for (LSC) of (2mm) thickness and (5x10 -3 mol/L) concentration of the dye. The largest increase in the performance efficiency is 126.7% for (LSC) of (4.5mm) thickness and (5x10 -5 mol/L) concentration of the dye. The reasons for the increase in solar cell performance efficiency were studied and discussed.
