RESEARCH INTERESTS
My main research interests are conservation genetics, molecular ecology, population genetics and phylogeography of various systems. During my PhD, I’ve investigated the genetic integrity, origin, and phylogeography of various European freshwater fishes (mainly salmonids) within and around Austria. After finishing my PhD I investigated the genetic diversity on cheetahs on Namibian farmlands in the Life Technologies Conservation Genetics Laboratory at the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia. My latest interest lies in the field of eDNA analyses. Thereby I use multi- (metabarcoding) and single-species approaches for species detection in order to assess aquatic and terrestrial species presence in and around aquatic systems in Europe and Southern Africa.
