International Journal of Engineering Transactions B Applications, 2026
Pomegranate is a high-value fruit globally recognized for its nutritional benefits and applications in traditional medicine and cosmetics. India is a key player in the global pomegranate market, but the industry faces challenges such as diseases that affect crop productivity and economic losses for farmers. This study proposes a novel approach to pomegranate disease detection using a hybrid Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model. The proposed model leverages CNNs for effective feature extraction and LSTMs for sequential data handling, achieving superior performance compared to traditional methods and other deep learning techniques. Experimental results demonstrate high accuracy, recall, precision, and F1 score. The Proposed model achieved an accuracy of 98.53% and loss of 0.0677. The study also explores the limitations of transfer learning approaches such as VGG16 and ResNet50, and larger models like AlexNet, which did not perform well in this context. The findings suggest that the hybrid CNN-LSTM model offers a scalable and adaptable solution for agricultural disease detection, with potential applications for various crops.

Lung Cancer (LC) is determined as the most common cause of death in recent times all over the world. The only way to decrease the mortality count has been made possible only through earlier detection to save the lives of people. It may affect both men and women. There is much machine learning and Deep learning used to detect cancer in the earlier stage. In this case, image processing has been utilized all over the world, especially in various medical regions for image enhancement in the treatment phase as well as an earlier detection technique. Here, the time factor has played a crucial role in discovering the abnormality problems on the target images. Then, it is particularly used on different cancer tumors like LC. In this paper, the LC detection technique using segmentation is introduced. In the beginning phase, the images related to the cancer detection processes have been congregated from the dataset. Then, the congregated images are fed into the pre-processing phase, which takes a essential part in pre-processing the relevant images to be useful for further phases, where the Contrast Limiting Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE), histogram equalization, median filtering techniques for attaining the pre-processed images. Further, it has been given to the segmentation phase, where the TransUnet techniques to utilized to segment the images in a proper manner. Then, it has been given to the final phase known as classification is used to classify the patients whether it is normal or abnormal. Further, the classification phase used the Residual Attention Network (RAN) technique. In the end, the recommended LC detection model using segmentation is developed and thus shows better outcomes.

2024 International Conference on Innovation and Novelty in Engineering and Technology Innova 2024 Proceedings, 2024
Medical image processing is highly developed and critical in the medical field, encompassing methods like X-rays, MRI, and CT scans. These techniques help to identify minute defects in the human body. Brain tumors, which disrupt normal brain function, are detected through MRI using segmentation, feature extraction, and classification, processes that are time-consuming and depend on the expertise of clinical professionals. Computer-aided technology addresses these challenges. This work aims to diagnose brain tumors accurately and quickly using MRI images. Image pre-processing is done using CLAHE and median filter to enhance contrast and eliminate noise. Thresholding is used for segmentation and a lightweight U-net is used for tumor segmentation, achieving high accuracy and efficiency without extensive training data. Finally, an MSD-CNN classifies the tumor, capturing both local and global features for better image recognition. Our proposed model outperforms over existing methods in terms of accuracy, robustness, and efficiency in brain tumor detection.

Proceedings of the Accthpa 2023 Conference on Advanced Computing and Communication Technologies for High Performance Applications, 2023
Many diseases in the human being are can be detected through different imaging technology. The mammography is one of the imaging technique through which breast cancer cells can be identified. The mammographic breast image is preprocessed for eradicating the pectoral muscle in the breast cancer identification that contains a mammogram for encircling the process of detection. The cancer tissues having higher pixel intensities can be detected easier than the remaining breast region. It is difficult to classify the breast tumor tissues into malignant and benign ones. The mammographic breast image is generally pre-processed to eliminate pectoral muscle for the optimal diagnosis. Further, the active contour based segmentation is done to separate out the cancer region from entire mammographic image acquired by special technique. Segmenting accurate region of cancer will help in classification so segmentation stage has its own importance. Two different optimization algorithms are merged to improve optimization accuracy. The algorithms considered are Firefly and chicken swarm optimization (FF-CSO) is used optimize feature set and optimize error function of DBN. Once segmentation is performed on the image, the next process is to extract features from that segmented region to collect useful information for distinguishing the cases. In this we extracted LBP features from the segmented images. The deep learning architectures is for classification.
