From Witness of the ‘Araguaia War’ to the Struggle for Rights in the Brazilian Amazon Thelma Pontes Borges, Marcela Vecchione Gonçalves Dilemas, 2023 The Araguaia region has been crossed by numerous conflicts since the 1970s, which became known as the Araguaia’s War. In this paper, we aim to demonstrate how peasants in this region recovered from the countless violence suffered and established themselves in the struggle for social rights. We present two interviews worked through content analysis, highlighting the various forms of violence inflicted by the State and their ways of overcoming them. We conclude that the process of psychosocial reorganization of the various traumas suffered occurs in the field of individuality, still lacking a collective recognition of the State as a repressor.
