Revision of the Neotropical subgenus Catachlorops (Psarochlorops) Fairchild, 1969 (Diptera: Tabanidae) Lia Pereira Oliveira, Tiago Kütter Krolow, Augusto Loureiro Henriques Revista Brasileira De Entomologia, 2026 Psarochlorops Fairchild is a subgenus of Catachlorops and has never been subject to revision since its creation in 1969. Here, we provide a revision of the species in the subgenus for which we obtained type photos and analyzed material from collections. We provide type photos of all species, as well as their synonyms, an identification key to the species in the subgenus and distribution maps for the species. We describe two new species: Catachlorops chicoi sp. nov. and Catachlorops tocantinensis sp. nov. and synonymize four species: Catachlorops difficilis (Kröber), C. poecilopterus (Schiner), C. lineatus Burger and C. quadrimaculatus (Macquart) under C. testaceus (Macquart). Thus, Psarochlorops now has nine valid species. Additionally, we provide comments and photographs for the males of C. ecuadoriensis and C. testaceus, the only species in the subgenus with known males.
Illustrated Catalogue of the types of Tabanidae (Diptera: Brachycera) housed in the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) LIA PEREIRA OLIVEIRA, AUGUSTO LOUREIRO HENRIQUES Zootaxa, 2025 Following recommendation 72F of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), we provide an updated list of primary and secondary types of Tabanidae deposited in the Invertebrate Collection of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA). Specimen information is provided based on their labels, and the species are presented in alphabetical order. The collection houses a total of 37 holotypes and 703 paratypes of 76 species and one subspecies. We report the type status, additional comments, and photographs of species.
Description of four new species of the Neotropical genus Scione Walker, 1850 (Diptera: Tabanidae) Lia Pereira Oliveira, Augusto Loureiro Henriques, Jaime Buestán, Tiago Kütter Krolow European Journal of Taxonomy, 2024 After 94 years after the last revision of the genus and after 22 years since the last species was named, we describe four new species of Scione from Ecuador and Peru: S. cooperi sp. nov., S. gertrudeae sp. nov., S. kroeberi sp. nov. and S. merianae sp. nov. We provide diagnoses, descriptions, photographs and discussions for each of the species.
First records of Pantophthalmidae (Insecta: Diptera) for the state of Tocantins, Brazil Lia Pereira Oliveira, Diego Aguilar Fachin, Tiago Kütter Krolow Papeis Avulsos De Zoologia, 2023 Pantophthalmidae (Diptera) are recorded exclusively in the Neotropical Region. Despite the large size of adults, their species are often rare and poorly represented in entomological collections. Only two genera and 20 species are known, of which 12 are recorded in the five regions of Brazil. In the North region, the family is reported from all states, except in Tocantins. The present work provides the first records of the family for Tocantins, expanding the distribution of two species, Pantophthalmus kerteszianus (Enderlein, 1914) and P. tabaninus Thunberg, 1819. Both species are recorded for the first time in the Cerrado biome. In addition, we provide photographs of the species and a distribution map.
