Anisha Arora, Uttam Kaur, Prashant Kumar Siddhey
Multifaceted Uses of Cutting Edge Technologies and Social Concerns, 2024
The relationship between digital inequality and other socioeconomic disparities is still underestimated, even though the field is always changing. This paper challenges social scientists to explore the topic of digital inequality from both a methodological and substantive standpoint, both within and outside of the field of digital media studies. The researcher outlines current studies addressing access, usage, skills, and self-perceptions about digital inequality. They also suggest directions for further research. Every submission promotes the recognition of digital inequality in the present period alongside more conventional types of social inequality. It claims that social scientists who study a range of life outcomes should include digital inequality in their work rather than leaving it to the experts. According to the authors, the effects of digital inequality are felt at both the individual and societal levels, affecting things like life paths, politics, healthcare, healthcare, gender, race, and class as well as social connectivity and economic engagement.
