Impact of Water Absorption and Gamma Irradiation on Electrical Equivalent Circuit Parameters of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites Anupama Shivamurthy, Rakshith Boranna, K. B. Bommegowda IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2026 The influence of environmental stress such as water absorption and gamma (γ) irradiation on carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites is of critical importance for aerospace, automotive, and nuclear applications. In this work, electrical equivalent circuit modelling (ECM) is employed to assess the dielectric behaviour of CFRPs under controlled water immersion and irradiation up to 3000 kGy. The results reveal significant modifications in circuit parameters: the series resistance (Rs) increases from 2.8 Ω (dry laminate) to 9.6 Ω after 10 minutes of water absorption, while the parallel resistance (Rp) decreases from 306 kΩ to 29 kΩ after 1 hour, indicating the onset of bulk water diffusion. γ- irradiation produces contrasting effects; at 1000 kGy, Rs rises sharply to 142 Ω while Rp collapses to 93 Ω due to chain scission and free radical formation, whereas at 3000 kGy, capacitance increases to 2.4 nF and Rp improves to 706.5 kΩ, signifying enhanced crosslinking.
Transforming patient management: a study on secure, cost-effective, automated remote monitoring of urine bags Anil Kumar Bhat, G. R. Pradyumna, K. B. Bommegowda, Roopa B. Hegde, Swathi Prabhu Scientific Reports, 2025 The increasing demand for efficient patient monitoring systems in healthcare and the growing need for remote monitoring, particularly post-pandemic, emphasise the importance of tracking critical parameters such as urine output, blood oxygen saturation, breath rate, and blood pressure. Urine output, a key indicator of kidney function and medical treatment response, is traditionally assessed manually, posing a significant burden on hospital staff and caregivers. Addressing this, our system facilitates continuous, accurate monitoring of urine output, enhancing patient care and healthcare efficiency. We developed a smartphone application leveraging capacitive sensors and a Wi-Fi-enabled control unit, enabling remote monitoring of urine bag volumes. The system alerts when bags are empty for extended periods or full, this is validated through experiments with volumes ranging from 100 to 1000 mL.The corresponding variations in sensor output voltage confirmed the accuracy of the system. To secure patient data, we incorporated AES-256 encryption with dynamic key generation using patient-specific IDs and OTP-based access control, ensuring data privacy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Our approach offers several advantages: ease of attachment to standard urine bags, non-invasiveness, reusability of bags, and remote monitoring through the mobile application. This innovation automates urine output monitoring, secures patient data, reduces the workload of intensive care nurses, and enhances patient care through precise and continuous monitoring. Unlike existing devices that rely on customised containers or short-range Bluetooth transmission, our system is compatible with standard urine bags, employs cost-effective capacitive copper-tape sensors, and integrates AES-256 encryption with dynamic key generation and OTP-based access control for robust data security. These unique features make the system functionally novel, technically secure, and highly practical for deployment in both hospital and home settings.
Development of an IoT Integrated BMI Measurement and Visualisation Platform for Healthcare Applications Sukesh Rao M., Bommegowda K. B. Proceedings 2025 2nd International Conference on Electronic Circuits and Signaling Technologies Icecst 2025, 2025 This study investigates an Internet of Things (IoT) based system for the real-time measurement and visualisation of Body Mass Index (BMI) levels about individuals' lifestyle patterns and health status, analysing key statistical metrics such as mean values, standard deviations, and BMI classifications (underweight, normal, overweight, and obese). The system integrates a load cell for weight, an ultrasonic sensor for height, an ESP32 microcontroller for computation, and cloud integration (Firebase/Google Sheets) for remote monitoring. The system demonstrated accuracy (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 3 \text{cm}$</tex> for height, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 500$</tex> grams for weight, and close matching for estimated vs. actual BMI) and reliability. Initial analysis showed clear differences in BMI based on lifestyle, with inactive individuals having a higher average BMI. This platform improves patient monitoring, reduces manual workload, and provides immediate, actionable feedback on health metrics for preventive care.
Design and Implementation for Performance Evaluation of a Compensated PWM Inverter K. B. Bommegowda, Durga Prasad, Rakshith B 2025 5th International Conference on Advances in Electrical Computing Communication and Sustainable Technologies Icaect 2025, 2025 This investigation focuses on examining the impact of capacitor current feedback and compensators on the performance of a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1\psi$</tex> Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) inverter with an inductor and capacitive filter. The control design is carried out using MATLAB. The control unit of PWM comprises two loops. The capacitor current feedback is used to decrease the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the load voltage and increase the speed of the response. To evaluate the effectiveness of the designed compensators, a simulation & implementation of the inverter are conducted, targeting an o/p power of 700 W at 230 V. Based on the simulation results, it is observed that, the system exhibits a satisfactory transient response, characterized by an infinite gain margin, and a low THD of 0.5 % for non-linear loads. The experimental verification of the proposed control technique for non-linear load conditions produces a seamless sinusoidal output.
Integration of IoT and Embedded Systems for Rider Safety and Security Bommegowda K B, Pradyumna G R, Gajanana Pai K, Abhishek Shet International Conference on Computing Intelligence and Application Ciacon 2025, 2025 With the increasing number of road accidents and vehicle thefts, ensuring the safety and security of two-wheeler riders has become a significant concern. This paper presents a comprehensive system that integrates the Internet of Things (IoT) and embedded systems to enhance rider safety and vehicle security. The proposed design incorporates real-time monitoring using sensors to detect parameters such as helmet usage, alcohol consumption, and accident impact. Additionally, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) modules are embedded to enable location tracking and emergency alerts. The system prevents ignition if safety criteria are not met, thereby enforcing responsible riding behaviour. Cloud connectivity ensures data logging and remote access through a mobile application, enabling family members or authorities to receive alerts in critical situations. The fusion of IoT with embedded hardware offers a scalable, cost-effective, and reliable solution that not only safeguards the rider but also contributes to the development of intelligent transportation systems.
Cyclovoltammetry Analysis of Epoxy-Reinforced Graphene Nanocomposites Hadimani Shivakumar, Gurumurthy G D, Lohith M S, Channabasayya Mathad, Bommegowda B Nanochemistry Research, 2025 Epoxy composites embedded with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) were examined for their potential use as electrode materials in electrochemical sensing applications, attributed to their superior electrical conductivity, thermal stability, and mechanical strength. In this investigation, graphene nanoplatelet was processed with an epoxy matrix, namely Epon 828, using the three-roll technique. The composites, containing 0.5 to 5 wt.% graphene nanoplatelets in the epoxy matrix were characterized via electrochemical processes at 3 and 5 wt.% graphene nanoplatelets; notable electrochemical performance was observed. Including graphene significantly enhanced the electrode material’s properties in cyclic voltammetry studies using Na2SO4 as the electrolyte. Electrical conductivity studies revealed a percolation threshold at 1 wt.% graphene nanoplatelet, with further increases in conductivity confirming the composite’s effectiveness as an electrode material for electrochemical sensing of thiourea in seawater. The sensitivity and selectivity of the epoxy-graphene electrode were validated as satisfactory through cyclic voltammetry analysis.

Journal of Medical Engineering and Technology, 2025 The precise measurement of bite force is vital in dental diagnostics, particularly for evaluating tooth restorations, prosthetic interventions, and orthodontic treatments. This study presents the calibration and evaluation of the Flexiforce A301 sensor using optimised low-drive voltage circuits to extend its measurement range. Three circuit configurations, a voltage divider, a feedback resistor, and a feedback resistor with a capacitor were designed, simulated using LTspice, and experimentally validated. Results indicate that the configuration incorporating a feedback resistor provides superior linearity and stability, accurately measuring forces up to 100 kg, outperforming other configurations. This advancement enhances the reliability and range of bite force measurements, offering a robust foundation for high-force dental applications.
