Extended Semantic Edge-Aware Filtering Profile for Hyperspectral Image Classification Kunal Pradhan, Swarnajyoti Patra, Lorenzo Bruzzone IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2024 Spectral-spatial classification of hyperspectral images (HSIs) has been extensively studied. Although the importance of spatial information for classification of HSIs is widely proven in the literature, the definition of effective techniques for the extraction of spatial information is still a challenging and open research issue. In this letter, a semantic edge-aware structure preserving image filtering technique is presented to accurately model spatial information in HSI classification. The experimental results on the three real HSI data sets show the superiority of our model, which provides at least 2% higher classification accuracy than the best among the numerous literature models considered.
Structure Preserving Semantic Texture Filtering Kunal Pradhan, Swarnajyoti Patra 2022 IEEE Calcutta Conference Calcon 2022 Proceedings, 2022 In structure preserving texture filtering, structural edge based features are more useful than textural features as they are invariant for both regular and varying scale irregular textures. In this work, we proposed a novel structure preserving texture filtering technique by detecting structural edges of the image. The proposed technique first exploits Jensen Shannon Divergence to detect structural edges of the image considering semantic information. Then with help of the detected structural edges, it defines a dynamic window of the median filter for filtering the input image. The experimental results on a variety of images show the potentiality of the proposed technique.
Classification of Polarimetric SAR Image using JS-Divergence Profile Nabajyoti Das, Kunal Pradhan, Swarnajyoti Patra 2022 IEEE Calcutta Conference Calcon 2022 Proceedings, 2022 The effectiveness of a classifier is dependent on how accurately it classify the boundary samples. To enhance the discrimination between the boundary pixels, in this research we propose a novel feature extraction technique that generates a profile of the polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR)image by using Jensen Shannon Divergence (JSD). The experiment conducted on two real PolSAR data sets using support vector machines (SVM) classifier shows the potentiality of the proposed profile. For both the data sets, the proposed profile provides at least 3% improvement in the classification accuracy as compared to the traditional T3db features.
