Network communication is increasing day by day in many ways. The cloud is one of the most modern communication environments. This environment gives users easy access to their information whenever and wherever they need it. An organization's electronic information systems can be compromised using a honeypot, which is a deception tool. A honeypot may be used as an advanced security surveillance tool and early-warning system applied properly. Through utilising it, the risks of attacks on networks and IT systems may be reduced. Additionally, honeypots may be used to examine the methods in which attackers attempt to access an information system and to reveal important information about potential security gaps. This study looked at the way existing attack detection and prevention techniques that utilised honeynet performed. The study implemented automated honeypot solutions using virtual machines and centralised system management tools named Puppet. The attacker's source IP address, location, and timestamp were all gathered through a centralized logging systems. However, advances in this technology also open the door to new attacks. In this paper, they performed an extensive examination of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks and the methods that have been utilized to recognise and stop these attacks. This research will help emerging researchers at this time to grasp research questions and provide optimal solutions to these problems.
