Dynamics of the Sustainable Palm Oil Supply Chain: (Modeling, Traceability, Risk Mitigation, and Simulation)

Sustainability is a key issue for the global palm oil industry. Several major environmental and social issues continue to overshadow sustainability efforts: continued deforestation due to plantation expansion, a lack of incentives and sustainable land development, and worker exploitation. This situation reflects stagnant progress in sustainability efforts. Despite expanding oil palm plantation areas, productivity remains a problem, failing to meet established standards and even lagging behind neighboring countries like Malaysia. This decline in productivity has the potential to disrupt the supply of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), reducing raw material availability and triggering supply chain volatility. Uncertainty about demand and supply complicates the prediction of overall industry capacity requirements, increasing operational, financial, and reputational risks.     The supply chain is vital for business operations, especially regarding costs and profits. Sustainable oil palm development is stagnant because deforestation is still occurring due to the expansion of oil palm plantations every year. It is suspected that there is a problem with the supply chain, especially in the economic, social, and environmental sections that are included in the sustainable variables. This study aims to identify risks in the sustainable supply chain in the palm oil industry and formulate risk mitigation measures, both preventive and corrective, using the House of Risk approach and the MOORA decision support system. The literature review results indicate deforestation, harvest gaps between communities and companies, stagnant productivity, and issues of desire that influence Government policies. This study introduces a new analysis of the sustainable supply chain, identifying 41 risk agents and 123 risk events mapped using Sustainability SCOR (Supply Chain Operation Reference). It is reprocessed in House of Risk stage 2 utilizing MOORA by increasing the correlation matrix based on benefits and costs in the following order: M59, M60, M36, M53, M52, M13, M10. The significance of this study is that the study of sustainable supply chain risk management is a new thing in the palm oil industry because, in previous studies, supply chain management did not consider sustainable variables. In the decision support system, this study also considers benefits and costs so that the final result can be chosen according to the company’s capabilities. In the long term, if this study is implemented and refined, the palm oil industry may operate independently, sustainably, and productively

    An industry goal is to create a product to make a profit. Development of human resources is one important thing for a company to consider. Companies have an opportunity to increase work productivity by the rules of OHS (Occupational Health and Safety). This study aimed to: (1) Partially determine the influence of work safety on employee productivity. (2) Partially determine the influence of health on employee productivity. (3) Simultaneously determine the influence of health and safety on employee productivity simultaneously. (4) Determine that variables that have a major influence on employee productivity. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 200 respondents. Results of SEM showed that safety did not have an effect on productivity (p=0.467). However, occupational health effected productivity (p=0.002). Thus, health has a significant influence on work productivity.
