Manvydas Vitkūnas (born May 1, 1977 in Musninkai, Širvintos district, Lithuania) is a Lithuanian archaeologist, military historian, and journalist. 1997–1999 – Correspondent of the magazine “Karys”. 1998–2001 – Head of the Museum of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania. 2001–2002 – Worked in the Second Department of Operational Services under the Ministry of National Defence. 2003–2009 – Special Correspondent of “Valstiečių laikraštis”. 2007–2010 – Chief Correspondent of the magazine “Kardas”. 2009–2012 – Lecturer at the Department of Baltic Prohistory, Faculty of History, Vilnius Pedagogical University (Associate Professor since 2011). Since 2009 – Associate Professor of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania.
EDUCATION
In 1995-2001 he studied archaeology at the Faculty of History of Vilnius University (graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1999, and a master's degree in 2001). In 2006 he defended his doctoral dissertation in humanities at Vilnius University on the topic "Daily Life in Southeast Lithuania in the 13th–14th Centuries (Based on Archaeological Sources)".
