The potential of Indonesian indigenous functional foods as a sustainable strategy for stunting alleviation: A systematic review of quasi experimental research Ahdiyatul Fauza, Delita Septia Rosdiana, Habibah Abidin, Putri Novitasari, Anisa Nur Wulan, et al. Nutricion Clinica Y Dietetica Hospitalaria, 2026 Background: Stunting remains a serious chronic nutritional problem, especially in Indonesia, despite a decrease in its prevalence from 27.7% (2021) to 19.8% (2024). Protein deficiency is the primary factor causing stunting due to its crucial role in regulating growth hormones and forming body tissues. This study aimed to identify the potential of protein-based indigenous functional foods as a sustainable strategy for stunting alleviation. Methods: The method used was a systematic review based on the PRISMA guidelines with a narrative synthesis approach. Article searches were conducted via PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Garuda using the keywords “stunting intervention,” “local functional food,” and “protein-based food” in publications from 2015 to 2025. Out of 496 articles, 11 articles met the inclusion criteria. Results: These findings conclude that using indigenous protein-rich functional foods is an effective and sustainable strategy for reducing the prevalence of stunting. Future intervention development needs to assess the sustainability aspects of local foods, micronutrient fortification, and integration into national child nutrition policies. Conclusions: These findings conclude that using indigenous protein-rich functional foods is an effective and sustainable strategy for reducing the prevalence of stunting. Muktiarni, Desyane Ramadhina Sari Frontiers in Nutrition, 2024 BackgroundAdolescent growth and development is a period of very specific nutritional problems. As a result of poor growth and development, 36.3% of adolescents in Indonesia are at risk of developing CED. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of body image, the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), and nutritional intake in adolescents in urban and rural areas.MethodsThis study used a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional study conducted in Bandung and Sumedang on 387 adolescents aged 13–15 years. The instruments used in this study were body image questionnaire Figure Rating Scale (FRS) method, 2 × 24-h food recall, and anthropometry for Measuring mid upper arm circumference (MUAC).ResultsResults of this study showed that more than half of adolescents in urban (54.0%) and rural areas (61.7%) were at risk of CED, had negative body image perceptions in urban (69.1%) and rural areas (62.3%), and underconsumption of macronutrients in both urban and rural adolescents.ConclusionMost adolescents in urban and rural areas still consume less energy, carbohydrates, and protein. Perceived body image and nutrient intake contribute to the incidence of CED in adolescents.

Hasbullah, I. Widiaty, E. E. Nikmawati, D. S. Rosdiana Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2019 Traditional cuisine is being forgotten particularly by young generation. One of the biggest triggers is the rapid distribution of information on modern food such as junk or fast food supported by the fast development of digital technology. In addition, low knowledge and awareness of traditional food, especially among teenagers, also contribute to this phenomenon. In Indonesia, one of the areas well known with its traditional cuisine in West Java province, which is dominated by Sundanese food. There were 55 teenagers from Bandung, Indonesia, aged between 12 to 21 years old having smartphones and access to the internet selected to be the subjects of this study. The data comprised subject characteristics (age and gender), their perception, and their use of the application which had been published on the domain www.digipedia-edumakugiz.id. The data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 22 program and interpretation of the perception and acceptance level of the application. Based on the data analysis, this study found that most of the respondents found it quite easy to operate the application. This led to their interest to further use the application based on their specific needs. In relation to the development of the application, there was an additional feature of language (bilingual) as a strategy to attract more users. It was also proven that development on contents and attributes of the application made the application even more interesting for teenagers to find more information on West Java traditional food and beverages.
