    Buildings, 2026
Building Information Modeling (BIM) has become a key methodology for transforming the construction sector, yet its integration into higher education remains a global challenge. In Brazil, despite national policies promoting BIM adoption, most universities still face cultural, technological, and pedagogical barriers to curricular implementation. This study aims to assess and characterize the BIM maturity level of the Civil Engineering program at the Polytechnic School of the University of Pernambuco (POLI/UPE), applying the BIM Maturity Matrix for Higher Education Institutions (m2BIM-HEI). Self-assessment questionnaires were administered to program coordination, faculty members, the Structuring Teaching Nucleus, and the Information Technology Division. The results show an intermediate BIM maturity level (56.5%), with notable progress in research and student training but limitations in faculty qualification, technological infrastructure, and institutional vision. The originality of this research lies in its contextualized diagnostic approach, applying a maturity model to a public Brazilian university and revealing specific challenges of BIM adoption in developing contexts. The findings highlight the need for structured institutional policies, faculty development programs, and curricular integration strategies, offering insights that can guide similar initiatives in Latin American higher education.

The article aims to analyze the conditions of employment of the driver and the bus conductor, the urban passenger transport in the Metropolitan Region of Recife sector, aiming at the performance and quality of life of workers. The survey of the working conditions of these two professionals was conducted in 19 transport companies Recife by staff researcher at the Laboratory of Ergonomics and Universal Design ( LABERGODesign ) of the Federal University of Pernambuco and the Center for Health and Safety at Work ( NSHT ) University Pernambuco with support from Regional Labor Attorney of the 6th Region of the Ministry of Labour ( MPT ). For this survey was carried out in 19 bus companies, methodological procedures for measurement of risk - noise, vibration, heat, total dust O2 and CO; Applied checklists for workplace of the driver and the bus conductor; applied questionnaires to both driver and collector, also made an assessment of postural discomfort using the tool Corlett diagram, in addition to photographing and filming in a real work situation of the driver and conductor. The results obtained from the research we identified the actual working conditions - physical, cognitive and organizational - of those two professionals and analyzed the jobs of the driver and conductor. The results show the consequences that the driver and conductor suffer to spend too much time sitting and with little break time, what are the areas of the body most affected by pain and discomfort in those two professions, including organizational issues they face, well as the physical and environmental risks that are exposed during a working day of 8 hours, 10 and 16 hours. The analysis of the research has relevance to the areas of occupational safety and ergonomics since the results may contribute to intervene in the security and quality of life of such professionals.

    Noise Control Engineering Journal, 2019
In the construction industry, workers are exposed to several risks, among them is the noise generated by construction equipment. This research had as its objective to evaluate the noise emitted by circular saws and concrete mixers, equipments usually present on construction sites, in order to propose noise control measures. For that purpose, the propagation curves (isoclines) of the sound pressure level (SPL) were measured and analyzed during the operation of three concrete mixers and three circular saws. The sound measurements were conductedwith the type 2 sound level meter, while for air temperature and wind speed a digital thermo-anemometer was used. Contour lines representing the isoclines of SPL were generated, and control measures were proposed. The results show that values of SPL above 85 dB(A) were observed at a maximal distance of 7 m from the source for concrete mixers and 16 m for circular saws. It was also confirmed that the furthest distance that the SPL is greater than 85 dB(A) depends on the number of barriers, screens and masonry walls. In obstacle-free areas, the rate of reduction of sound intensity was 1.26 dB(A) per meter for concrete mixers and 1.47 dB(A) per meter for circular saws. The SPL isoclines should be considered in planning of construction sites and organizing adequate control measures.
