Analytical Research Regarding the Implementation of a Prescriptive Maintenance System Applied to IT&C Equipment Ana-Diana Pop-Suărășan, Nicolae Stelian Ungureanu, Adrian Petrovan Machines, 2025 In the era of digitalization, prescriptive maintenance and equipment condition monitoring are essential for ensuring the continuity of operations in various industries. The proposed software solution provides an integrated solution for monitoring and maintaining equipment, facilitating the collection, processing and interpretation of data related to their performance. Prioritization of prescriptive maintenance recommendations for alerts within the application is based on a set of well-defined criteria that integrate both the analysis of physical sensor data and computer logs. This is achieved through a hierarchical classification mechanism, combining predefined thresholds, prescriptive assessments and severity levels. The proposed project is a prescriptive equipment monitoring and maintenance application focused on the collection and analysis of sensor data to identify and prevent potential failures. The application structure integrates components such as data processing, machine learning, databases and recommendation generation, each of which has a specific role in the project workflow. The integration of sensor data and logs enhances robustness, scalability and efficiency, ensuring both high performance and adaptability to the varying needs of users. The proposed system processes and analyzes large data volumes. It combines threshold-based logic with machine learning to enhance adaptability.
Comparative Assessment of Tool Wear and Surface Topography After Superfinish Turning of Inconel 718 with Carbide and Ceramic Inserts Piotr Szablewski, Stanisław Legutko, Nicolae Ungureanu, Jana Petru, Krzysztof Smak, et al. Applied Sciences Switzerland, 2025 Cutting inserts made of ceramic materials are used in rough machining processes of Inconel 718. This article compares sintered carbide S205 inserts with 6160 ceramic inserts after finish turning of Inconel 718 with a hardness of 45 HRC. The evaluation focused on insert wear, surface topography and changes in cutting edge radius. The results show differences in the wear of S205 and 6160 inserts. S205 inserts characterize the formation of buildup on the rake face, while 6160 inserts tend to form buildup on the flank face. Furthermore, ceramic 6160 inserts are more prone to notch wear. Surface topography analysis revealed the formation of individual high peaks on surfaces machined with ceramic inserts. The Sa parameter for all cutting conditions studied did not exceed 0.45 µm.
Tribological Aspects Concerning the Study of Overhead Crane Brakes Miorita Ungureanu, Nicolae Medan, Nicolae Stelian Ungureanu, Nicolae Pop, Krzysztof Nadolny Materials, 2022 The aim of the study is the tribological analysis of the crane drum brakes. A theoretical analysis of the wear processes for brake lining was performed and the coefficient of friction under tribological conditions was determined experimentally simulating the operating conditions for three types of brakes. The theoretical study of the wear was oriented towards of determining the lifetime of the brake lining. In the experimental determination of the coefficient of friction, the following parameters were taken into account: the contact pressure between the shoe and the drum; the initial speed of the brake drum; the humidity of the working environment; and the temperature of the drum-brake lining friction surfaces. After performing the experiments, a statistical analysis was conducted, that shows the amount the coefficient of friction is influenced by the previously mentioned parameters: the highest weight was humidity with a value of 35.58%, followed by temperature with a percentage of 23.95%, velocity with 4.54%, and lastly pressure with 4.19%. Furthermore, the equation that expresses the dependence between the coefficient of friction and the parameters is determined. We consider that the results obtained are important for brake manufacturers in order to improve braking efficiency and the safety of overhead cranes.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE SYSTEM FOR CUTTING TOOL FLOWS MANAGEMENT IN A SMALL MANUFACTURING COMPANY University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Novi Sad, Serbia, Dejan Lukić, Dejan Božić, University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Novi Sad, Serbia, Mijodrag Milošević, et al. Advanced Engineering Letters, 2022 Information systems in small manufacturing companies can have a big impact on increasing economy and productivity. Due to limited human and financial resources, these companies generally use cheaper commercial solutions or develop specialized information system solutions that are adapted to their needs. In order to properly solve the problem of introducing an information system, a thorough analysis of information flows in the company and corresponding business processes is necessary. The main subject and goal of the research in this work is related to the investigation of time losses due to the absence of an information system from the aspect of managing the flow of cutting tools, as well as the presentation of the foundations for its development in a small manufacturing company.
Research regarding the energy recovery from municipal solid waste in maramures county using incineration Miorita Ungureanu, Juhasz Jozsef, Valeria Mirela Brezoczki, Peter Monka, Nicolae Stelian Ungureanu Processes, 2021 This paper presents a part of the study referring to exploring Energy Recovery from Municipal Solid Waste in Maramures County. In order to analyze the possibility of energetic recovery of municipal solid waste (MSW), data referring to the management system of MSW from Maramures county were cumulated and processed in a first stage in order to estimate the quantity of municipal solid waste and its composition, which might be recovered energetically. In the next stage, samples of municipal solid waste were collected from landfills, which were submitted to specific processing and analyses. The experimental data were processed and in the end the energy potential of municipal solid waste from Maramures county was found. This study will help stakeholders and those involved in waste management to assess the possibility of energy recovery. The analysis of the study concluded that municipal solid waste in Maramures County is a potential source of renewable energy.
Wear of three-treads uncoated and coated integral hob milling tools S Sovilj-Nikić, B Sovilj, G Varga, N Ungureanu Iop Conference Series Materials Science and Engineering, 2020 Tribological Processes in the gear cutting of cylindrical gears on cutting elements of hob milling tools develop under specific conditions. The particular requirements under which the contacts between the hob milling tools and the workpiece material are made, make it difficult to become familiar with the tribological processes on them so that today there is more knowledge about their consequences on the machined surface of the teeth and the cutting elements of the hob milling tool, and less about their nature. In this paper, based on the experimental investigations, the wear analysis of three-treads uncoated and coated integral hob milling tools in the gear cutting of cylindrical gears is given.
