Transport-related emissions and lifetime risk of maternal death in developing nations Azmat Gani, Noor Sulastry Yurni Binti Ahmad Health Care for Women International, 2025 In this study, the authors investigate whether transport-related emissions impact the lifetime risk of maternal death in developing nations. The authors estimate a health production model that incorporates annual data on carbon emissions from transportation on lifetime risks of maternal death and mortality rate for adult females from 2002 to 2016 for thirty-eight developing countries. Our analysis reveals a statistically significant positive correlation between transport-related carbon emissions and the lifetime risk of maternal death. A positive but statistically insignificant correlation between transportation-related carbon emissions and adult female mortality rates is also revealed. The success of Sustainable Development Goal 3, Target 3.1, will largely depend on the developing countries' solid commitments to adopt policies for clean energy in the transportation sector that can reduce women's exposure to pollutants and minimize the risk imposed on their health.
Enhancing the Marginalized Youth Media Participation Through Formation of a Nation Building Action Plan with Intervention Study Design Norshuhada Shiratuddin, Shahizan Hassan, Zainatul Shuhaida Abdul Rahman, Mohd. Khairie Ahmad, Kartini Aboo Talib, et al. Asia Pacific Media Educator, 2021 Malaysian marginalized youth participation in nation building through various media platforms is low. Therefore, an action plan was developed to enhance the social, political and economic participation of youth in marginalized communities through media utilization. The action plan consists of target items and approaches to conduct activities. Eight media-participation-related modules were also tested in an intervention study. The modules were targeted at increasing the level of youth media, social and political participation. Various agencies such as the Malaysian Youth Council, were involved to help realize the plan aims. Results from the stakeholders’ reviews indicated that more efforts have to be carried out to expose these youth to good practices in the use of social media for participation purposes. The findings also concluded that this action plan is well-formed, can serve as a guide, allows integration of cultural harmony and offers empowerment to the youth.

A Study of Village Regulation Making Process in the Village of Adat Saibatin Community in Cukuh Balak Sub-district, Tanggamus District, Lampung Province, Indonesia Noor Sulastry Yurni Ahmad, Iskandar Syukur African and Asian Studies, 2016 This research studied the village regulation making process based on the Law No. 32/2004 and the relationships among head of village, administrators of Village Consultative Board (Badan Permusyawaratan Desa/ bpd / bhp ), and adat leaders in the village of Adat Saibatin community. The research was conducted in several villages of Cukuh Balak sub-district, Tanggamus district, Lampung province, Indonesia in 2012. The data were collected by employing interview and observation. The results of this study showed that the regulation making process in the village of Adat Saibatin community did not have clear stages to which the regulations were made unilaterally by the head of the village himself/herself. The adat leaders’ participation as community leaders in the villages almost disappeared and unstated in the regulations. Furthermore, Village Consultative Board was also in a weak position due to the absence of deliberation and agreement as the core principle known as the villages’ law in the process of making the regulations.
