  • Promoting Sustainable Tourism in the Areia Branca Beach of Timor-Leste: Innovations in Governance and Digital Marketing
I Made Mardika, I Ketut Kasta Arya Wijaya, Ida Bagus Udayana Putra, Leonito Ribeiro, Iis Surgawati, et al.
    Tourism and Hospitality, 2026
The urgency of research into innovation and digital marketing is driven by growing competition within the tourism industry, which demands greater destination visibility (DV) and tourist engagement (TE). At the same time, Areia Branca Beach, a prominent destination in Timor-Leste, has not been managed optimally to support sustainable tourism. Furthermore, the utilisation of governance innovation and digital marketing—particularly the integration of content marketing (CM), immersive technology (IT), and digital data analytics (DDA)—remains limited and has yet to be substantiated by robust empirical evidence at the scale of a developing destination. This study aims to investigate the role of DDA in the causality between CM and IT in influencing DV and TE. A quantitative approach was employed, using moderated regression analysis (MRA) to test the empirical relationships between the variables. Primary data were collected through face-to-face field surveys of tourists who had visited Areia Branca Beach, located northeast of Dili, Timor-Leste, on at least two occasions. The study adopted simple random sampling (SRS) with a finite population correction (FPC). A total of 364 tourists were selected to assess their perceptions using a structured questionnaire. The study reveals four main findings. First, CM significantly affects DDA and DV. Second, IT influences DDA, but not TE. Third, DDA significantly affects both DV and TE. Fourth, DDA moderates the effect of CM on DV and the effect of IT on TE. The findings underscore that the collaborative governance concept, through governance and marketing innovations, is not yet optimal for shaping sustainable tourism. Finally, future academic and practical policy implications require more in-depth exploration to emphasise the enhancement of resource management capacity genuinely needed in the subjects studied, beyond governance and digital marketing innovations within the sustainable tourism framework.
  • Integrative Model of Green Marketing: Product Innovation, Digital Strategy, and the Role of Brand Image Mediation in Gen Z Consumers
Made Setini, Faizan ul Haq, I. Putu Santikayasa, Dio Caisar Darma
International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management, 2026
This study develops an integrative green marketing model by examining the effects of green product innovation and digital marketing on sustainable marketing performance, with green brand image acting as a mediating variable among Generation Z consumers in Bali. A mixed-method sequential explanatory design was employed, combining quantitative analysis using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with qualitative interviews to enrich the interpretation of the findings. The results reveal that green product innovation and digital marketing significantly enhance green brand image, which in turn positively influences sustainable marketing performance. While digital marketing also has a direct positive effect on performance, the impact of green product innovation is primarily indirect through green brand image. These findings highlight the critical role of brand image as a mechanism linking environmental innovation and marketing outcomes. Beyond marketing performance, the study demonstrates that green product innovation contributes to measurable environmental benefits through eco-design, recyclable materials, and energy-efficient production processes. These practices align with the Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV), emphasizing that environmental responsibility can serve as a source of long-term competitive advantage. This study provides both theoretical and practical insights, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), by emphasizing the importance of integrating green innovation, digital strategy, and brand image management to achieve sustainable business growth in emerging markets.
  • Spillover Effect of Human Capital and Human Development in Shaping Agricultural Productivity—Scope of Indonesian Capital City (IKN)*
Agus Junaidi, Arfiah Busari, Erwin Kurniawan A., Irwan Gani, Dio Caisar Darma
Journal of Tekirdag Agricultural Faculty, 2025
Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) is recognized as a region rich in natural resources, with agriculture serving as its primary sector. Concurrently, the Indonesian government has relocated the administrative center from Jakarta to PPU. Given that PPU is situated in the center of Indonesia, the primary rationale for moving the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) is to equalize infrastructure and integrate the economy across all regional levels. In addition to undertaking complex developmental improvements, PPU faces new challenges in maintaining its existing agricultural prospects while transitioning into a comprehensive IKN development zone. Despite overlapping economic policies, PPU must implement concrete strategies to establish itself as a significant agricultural commodity-producing region for East Kalimantan, particularly for IKN. This study aims to explore the relationship between investment, labor, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) on agricultural productivity, irrespective of the involvement of human capital and human development. The dataset covers the period from 2015 to 2023 and is processed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The objectivity of the study is on PPU as an IKN. Empirical evidence indicates that ICT has a significant impact on human development (p < 1%). Both labor and ICT significantly influence agricultural productivity (p < 5%). Furthermore, while human capital was unable to serve as a moderating variable, human development significantly moderated the relationship between labor and agricultural productivity (p < 5%). The novelty of this study lies in identifying a gap not addressed by previous research, thereby contributing to the advancement of fresher thinking in the formulation of agricultural productivity models. The study's findings offer practical recommendations for the government to enhance agricultural productivity through the support of intensive investment programs. By implementing effective investment policies, it is anticipated that technological advancements will be revitalized. The adoption of technology is essential for developing human capital and fostering human development, which, in turn, shapes labor skills and promotes prosperity in the agricultural sector.
  • Lodging Service Performance and its Influencing Aspects: An Example from National Capital City
Fareis ALTHALETS, Arfiah BUSARI, Dio Caisar DARMA, Muhammad Tommy Fimi PUTERA, Sarifudin SARIFUDIN, et al.
Journal of Applied Economic Sciences, 2025
Service performance is the important part of the lodging industry, which relies significantly on the transformation of business strategies. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, digital competence and adaptability, market orientation, and service performance within the lodging case. The study was conducted in the National Capital City (IKN), involving a sample of 153 small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners in the lodging industry. Data collection was carried out through a direct door-to-door survey, and the results were analysed using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression. The authors found that entrepreneurial orientation positively influences digital competence and adaptability, as well as service performance. However, digital competence and adaptability have a negative impact on service performance. Entrepreneurial orientation can positively moderate the relationship between digital competence and adaptability, as well as service performance. Other empirical findings indicate that digital competence and adaptability, when moderated by market orientation, negatively affect service performance. The research design linking the impact of market orientation to lodging service performance has not been extensively explored. Given that digital competence and adaptability are shown to diminish service performance both directly and indirectly through market orientation, it is essential to emphasize these factors in the highly competitive lodging industry. Management in SMEs should leverage entrepreneurial orientation as a crucial differentiator to enhance success and improve service performance.Copyright© 2025 The Author(s). • The Function of Intrinsic Motivation in Driving Self-Efficacy for Fraud Detection
Anak Agung Bagus Amlayasa, I Gusti Ngurah Sanjaya, Imang Dapit Pamungkas, Ade Komaludin, Dio Caisar Darma
International Journal of Accounting and Economics Studies, 2025
Fraud detection in audit practice faces significant challenges because the implementation of auditor duties can be influenced by psychological ‎aspects such as self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation. This research aims to examine how self-efficacy affects an auditor's ability to detect ‎fraud and the role of intrinsic motivation as a mediator in this relationship. A survey method was employed using a questionnaire distributed ‎via Google Forms. The sample consisted of 104 auditors from various Public Accounting Firms (KAP) in Indonesia. Purposive sampling ‎was employed, involving 104 auditors with relevant qualifications and experience who were deliberately selected to enhance the credibility ‎of the data collected, as they were deemed most capable of providing information pertinent to the study's focus. Empirical findings reveal ‎that self-efficacy significantly influences intrinsic motivation; however, self-efficacy alone has an insignificant direct impact on fraud detection. Interestingly, intrinsic motivation has a significant effect on fraud detection. Implicitly, self-efficacy influences fraud detection indirectly through intrinsic motivation. The implications of this research underscore the importance of developing training programs that enhance ‎both self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation, enabling auditors to perform their duties more responsibly. Future research should consider expanding the existing literature by integrating psychological perspectives to better understand auditor behavior. Discussions on the upcoming ‎agenda concerning the implementation of other schemes by increasing sample size and expanding the scope of observation—taking into ‎account various regulations and cultural contexts—will enhance practical insights‎.
  • Dissecting the Economics of Tourism and Its Influencing Variables—Facts on the National Capital City (IKN)
Iis Surgawati, Surya Darma, Agus Muriawan Putra, Sarifudin Sarifudin, Misna Ariani, et al.
    Tourism and Hospitality, 2025
The field of tourism economics has consistently attracted big attention from scholars across various countries. Tourism is inherently linked to economic aspects. Concurrently, Indonesia has relocated its Ibu Kota Negara/National Capital City, now named “IKN”, from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. In addition to extensive public infrastructure development, the Indonesian government is also working to revitalize the tourism sector in IKN. To assess the economic feasibility of this sector, an in-depth study is necessary. This research aims to examine labor absorption, tourist visits, and economic growth as indicators of successful tourism economic performance. It also analyzes the variables that influence these indicators, including (1) wages, (2) occupancy rates, (3) room rates, (4) food and beverage facilities, (5) inflation, (6) hotel and lodging taxes, (7) restaurant and eating-house taxes, and (8) investment. The regression testing method employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS). According to the data analyzed from 2013 to 2024, the authors identified three main points: First, tourist visits and inflation have positive and significant impacts on labor absorption. Second, labor absorption, wages, occupancy rates, economic growth, and investment positively and significantly influence tourist visits. Third, tourist visits, room rates, food and beverage facilities, and inflation have positive and significant effects on economic growth. The implications of this research can be enlightening for regulators and future initiatives. This is particularly important for guiding further empirical investigations and policy planning aimed at accelerating economic development in the tourism sector.
  • Two-Way Causality Between Economic Growth and Environmental Quality: Scale in the New Capital of Indonesia
Nurjanana Nurjanana, Dio Caisar Darma, Suparjo Suparjo, Andriawan Kustiawan, Wasono Wasono
    Sustainability Switzerland, 2025
The world is still facing an old challenge, e.g., environmental change. In many nations, including developing countries such as Indonesia, spurring economic growth is considered the best way to overcome many things. Indonesia is moving the center of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). By opening up new space through the consideration of equitable economic development toward a green environment, this study is designed to investigate the impact of economic growth on environmental quality and vice versa. The object of analysis is directed at Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) as the new IKN center and four other IKN buffer areas in East Kalimantan, including (1) Paser, (2) Balikpapan, (3) Samarinda, and (4) Kutai Kartanegara. This study uses panel data regression and linear trends. The data elaborated is economic growth based on Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), which is proxied, and environmental quality, as reflected by the Environmental Quality Index (IKLH), during the 2017–2023 period. Referring to the method implemented, there is significant positive causality between the two in the selected IKN areas. Through the linear trend model, it is found that there is a tendency for changes in the data analyzed based on constant time. This study can be an instrument for practical policy making and a breakthrough in the development of a scientific discipline that studies the relationship between economic growth and environmental quality in two directions.
  • EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE AND SEVERAL PREDICTING FACTORS: A CAUSALITY AND STRATEGY IMPLICATION
Misna Ariani, Dwinda Tamara, Tutik Yuliani, Wiwik Saraswati, Imam Arrywibowo, et al.
Corporate and Business Strategy Review, 2025
One way to see the success of a company is by assessing the performance of its employees to build sustainable productivity (Previtali et al., 2022; Athirah Saidi et al., 2019). To follow up on that perspective, this study investigates the role of leadership style, discipline, and work environment on employee performance. The main focus is on companies operating in the maritime services industry sector located at Shorebase Tanjung Batu (North Penajam Paser (Penajam Paser Utara) — PPU) under the supervision of Pertamina Trans Continental (PTK). The interview instrument was through the distribution of closed questionnaires which were submitted to 591 employees. The questionnaire is used to measure response perceptions based on a Likert scale which includes five alternative options: 1 = completely disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = moderate, 4 = agree, and 5 = completely agree. Then, primary data is tabulated via the partial least squares (PLS) model. The study output found that leadership style, discipline, and work environment influence collective employee performance. Partially, leadership style and work environment have positive implications for employee performance. Yet, discipline actually has a negative impact on employee performance. Dedication to growing the body of knowledge is the development of indicators on the variables analyzed.

  • With Job Satisfaction or Not? The Role of Job Satisfaction in the Relationship Between Training and Rewards on Employee Productivity
Misna Ariani, Dwinda Tamara, Adera Rosviliana Malik, Dio Caisar Darma
Economics Innovative and Economics Research Journal, 2024
With a harmonious pattern between the workforce and the company, job satisfaction will result. East Kalimantan is very popular for its abundant natural resources, including mining. Referring to the terminology above, this paper focuses on the causality between training and rewards on employee productivity by involving job satisfaction as a mediator. The focus of this paper is one of the largest companies operating in the mining sector located in the Balikapan area. The assessment was carried out by distributing an open questionnaire to 346 employees who worked at the company. The quantitative approach is implemented in Smart-PLS, where the output is two schemes (outer model and inner model). In general, the statistic analysis finds that training and rewards have direct implications for employee job satisfaction and productivity. At the same time, job satisfaction does not have direct implications for employee productivity. Unfortunately, job satisfaction is unable to mediate the relationship between training and rewards on employee productivity. In essence, although training and rewards function in stimulating job satisfaction and employee productivity, they have not been proven optimal in encouraging employee productivity which is mediated by job satisfaction. Therefore, companies need to prioritize job satisfaction with more comprehensive proportions.
