    Paris Scholar Publishing
Objective: Fishermen are a group of workers who play a major role in the development of a country’s economy but are susceptible to health challenges due to the high-risk nature of their profession. Therefore, in this study, we determined the health risk factors among fishermen in West Seram Regency, Indonesia. Methods: We used a cross-sectional design to develop a predictive model for fishermen’s health. We collected data through a survey using validated and reliable questionnaires, followed by analysis with multiple logistic regression. The sample population consisted of 114 participants. Results: Smoking, exercise, and diving habits influenced the health of the participants with p-values of .016, .005, and .001, respectively. Parents’ health history also had a significant impact, with a p-value of .021. Furthermore, it was considered to be the dominant factor, possessing an Exp(B) value of 6.7. Conclusion: Based on the findings, these groups of workers were advised to maintain health through smoking cessation, engaging in regular physical activity, and undergoing regular check-ups at primary healthcare facilities.

Tri Utami, Dewi Agustina, and Noeroel Widajati

    Paris Scholar Publishing
Objective: In this study, we examined the characteristics of health problems associated with traditional divers (N = 10) so as to provide responsive prevention and intervention for persons engaged in this informal occupation. Methods: For this qualitative research we used a phenomenological design. We conducted data analysis in 2 ways: (1) we mapped the responses of our participants to interview questions, and (2) we applied ATLAS.Ti22 software for analytic description. Results: Complaints of muscle cramps were felt by 4 participants who consumed < 2 liters of water per day, 2 persons with a body mass index (BMI) in the obese category, and one diver who was overweight. Ear complaints were related to diving depth, diving duration, cigarette smoking, and BMI. Muscle complaints were related to water consumption, dive depth, and BMI is 0.22. Conclusion: Education, surveillance, and policy initiatives are necessary to minimize the negative health effects of traditional diving.

This study analyzes the effect of dust exposure and worker characteristics on lung function. This type of research was observational with a cross-sectional design. The population was 20 marble home industry workers in Tulungagung. The total population technique determined the sample. Data analysis was carried out using Smart PLS software. The study results found that sociodemography, including age, nutritional status, and years of service, affected lung function with a t-statistic of 2.604. Dust exposure, which includes respirable dust content and duration of exposure, impacted lung function with a t-statistic of 2.522. Marble artisans in Tulungagung with the age of >35 years and a long working period of >5 years with a level of exposure to silica dust >3 mg/m3 and supported by a long working period of >7 hours had great potential for lung function. The recommendation was for home industry entrepreneurs to provide masks according to standards. The role of public health center officers was to monitor the work environment and regularly check home industry workers’ health.

Introduction: The Indonesian government has prioritized stunting management programs, but until 2022 the prevalence of stunting is still high. Objectives: The purpose of this research is to develop a strategy to increase community satisfaction with stunting services oriented toward strengthening communication. Methods: This is a cross-sectional design research with data collected from a sample population of 298 mothers who have stunted children through a survey and analyzed using path analysis with SEM-PLS. Results: The result showed that communication affects stunting service facilities and sanitation management with a P-value of 0.000, respectively. Communication does not directly affect stunting service satisfaction, it is moderated by the variables of facilities and sanitation, which play a role in strengthening or weakening the effect of stunting service satisfaction. An essential factor that can be used to produce optimal stunting service satisfaction is strengthening communication. Conclusion: Strengthening communication between regional institutions at the Regency level synergistically supports the provision of the required facilities, thereby increasing community satisfaction. Furthermore, strengthening cross-sectoral communication synergistically in managing environmental sanitation supports stunting service programs. This research contributes to the government's emphasis on stunting service policies to strengthen communication between service providers and cross-sectoral communication.

    Bentham Science Publishers Ltd.
The ease of obtaining information influences students adopting the behavior. Purpose: To analyze the indicators of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) on students and find the effect of information in dealing with COVID-19. Methods: This is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional design and was conducted from March – to June 2020. The sample of students at one of the State Universities in Medan City was 352 respondents. Furthermore, the data were collected through a questionnaire, and path analysis determined the relationship between variables x and y. The influence of the respondents’ characteristic variables (X1) on the consumption of nutritious food (Y1), exercise habits (Y2), handwashing habits (Y3), environmental hygiene (Y4), smoking habits (Y5), wearing masks (Y6), water consumption (Y7), consumption of cooked food (Y8), use of health facilities (Y9), the habit of praying (Y10) was analyzed. Meanwhile, the effect of access to information (X2) on the consumption of nutritious food (Y1), exercise habits (Y2), handwashing habits (Y3), environmental hygiene (Y4), smoking habits (Y5), wearing masks (Y6), water consumption (Y7), consumption of cooked food (Y8), use of health facilities (Y9), and praying habit (Y10) was studied. Results: This study found that information affected the consumption of nutritious food, exercise habits, handwashing habits, and health facilities with a T-statistic value of 2.603, 1.970, 2.941, and 4.631, respectively, while individual characteristics influenced the use of masks with a value of 2,167. Conclusion: Information affects PHBS, and information media is an effective way and impetus for students to adopt the behavior. Furthermore, behavior change will be impacted when information is presented well.

OBJECTIVE The study aimed to find the factors that contributed greatly to health complaints due to use of pesticides. METHOD The research using the cross-sectional research design. The sample was determined using a total sampling technique. Data analysis was performed by path analysis using Smart PLS. RESULTS The result of the study found that the use of pesticides affected the working time t-statistic 3.467. The use of pesticides affects health complaints t-statistic 2.586. Types of pesticides affect working time t-statistic 2. Improper timing of spraying and the frequency of spraying has a bigger impact on farmers' health complaints. CONCLUSIONS Spraying time has the greatest influence on health complaints. It is recommended that farmers reduce the frequency of spraying more than 2 times a day, spraying time in the morning, and pay attention to the wind direction to reduce exposure and health hazards due to pesticides.

  • Earplug as a barrier on hearing disorders due to noise exposure
Tri Niswati Utami, Rinaldo Winata, Sahrir Sillehu, Rapiah Sarfa Marasabessy, and Anon Nuraini

Institute of Medico-legal Publications Private Limited
The use of production machinery in the industry is getting higher. Noise due to production machinery disturbs workers, resulting in hearing loss for workers. Deafness due to industrial noise is one of the diseases caused by work. The purpose of the study was to analyze noise intensity and analyze the benefits of earplug on hearing loss. This research is a quantitative study, the design used is a cross-sectional study. The population is workers at PT X who are exposed to noise intensity of 81–89 dB of 77 workers. Total population sampling technique. Data analysis using Spearman correlation (rs). The results of the analysis have no relationship to noise intensity with the right audiometry value (p-value = 0.895), there is no correlation between noise intensity and left audiometric measurements (p-value = 0.581). Workers use personal protective equipment so that noise intensity does not affect hearing function. Earplugs used when working are useful as barriers to protect hearing, able to reduce noise intensity by 30 dB. There is a relationship between right and left audiometry (p-value = 0, 000). Decreasing the hearing power in the right ear will result in a decrease in hearing the power in the left ear, and vice versa. The auditory structure of the right and left ears has anatomically uninterrupted pathways (interconnected channels). Conclusion Earplugs function effectively to protect the ears from hearing loss, therefore it is highly recommended that you always use earplugs during work.
