Evaluation of TNF-α, IL-8, and IL-6 in Thyroid Disorder Patients Leading to Thyroidectomy Mohammed Shwish SALEH, Mohammad Ahmad ABDALLA, Mousa Jasim MOHAMMED, and Medicina Moderna, 2025 Introduction: This study was carried out to investigate the immunological role of some cytokines in patients suffering from thyroid disorders (nodular hyperplasia, thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism, and thyrotoxicosis). Therefore, this study aimed to assess several immunological factors associated with clinically diagnosed thyroid disorders in patients who decided to undergo thyroidectomy. Methods: It was conducted at specialized outpatient and governorate laboratories in the period from September 2024 to November 2025. Eighty female individuals participated in this study, and serum samples were collected from these individuals before the operation. Alongside them, another set of serum samples was collected from twenty healthy female individuals to compare different cytokine levels between these two groups. ELISA kits were used to evaluate the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 8 (IL-8), and interleukin 6 (IL-6). Results: In non-toxic goiter patients, there was a significant increase (P≤0.01) in the IL-8 and IL-6 levels; there were no significant differences between non-toxic goiter patients and the control group in the levels of TNF-α. In toxic goiter patients, there was a significant increase (P≤0.01) in the TNF-α, IL-8, and IL-6 levels. In hypothyroidism patients, there was a significant increase (P≤0.01) in the TNFα, IL-8, and IL-6 levels. Also, in thyroid cancer patients, there was a significant increase (P≤0.01) in the TNF-α, IL-8, and IL-6 levels. Conclusion: The present study results support the fact that cytokines play essential roles in the development and prognosis of thyroid disorders. It indicates that measurements (TNF-α, IL-8, and IL-6) can be considered diagnostic tests to predict thyroid disorders.

The human vermiform appendix: morphological and anatomical review Mohammad Abdalla and Problemy Sotsial Noi Gigieny Zdravookhraneniia I Istorii Meditsiny, 2023 The article covers aspects of morphological, anatomical, embryological, histological aspects and origin, types, blood supply, innervation, lymph drainage of human vermiform appendix. The purpose of the study is to understand real function and to summarize this information for positive impact on clinical decision in case of appendicitis. Although characteristic features of normal and diseased appendix have been reported for many previous centuries, it still the most common challenge facing every day in operation room. The appendectomy, commonest surgical emergency procedure, may cause little confusion in surgeons due to highly variable situations of it inside the abdominal cavity. However, the recent imaging techniques have increased ability of surgeon for crucial diagnosis of the diseased appendix.

Morphological, Anatomical and Surgical Features of the Vermiform Appendix: A Historical Review M. Abdalla Problemy Sotsial Noi Gigieny Zdravookhraneniia I Istorii Meditsiny, 2022 The aim of this review is to focus light on the history of the human vermiform appendix from the morphological, anatomical, surgical, classification of the origin, types, blood supply aspects in order to understand the real function and summarized this information that positively impacts the clinical decision in case of appendicitis, the most popular surgical condition. Although the characteristic features of the normal and diseased appendix had been reported for many previous centuries, it was still the most common challenge facing every single day in the operation room. The appendectomy, the commonest surgical emergency procedure, may cause little confusion for the surgeons due to highly variable situations of inside the abdominal cavity. However, the recent imaging techniques have increased the surgeon's ability for crucial diagnosis of the diseased appendix. Besides the above-mentioned criteria, with its clinical features diagnosis and management, the author was deeply searched in many scientific databases including EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Pubmed Central (PMC), Medline, Web of Science, and Scopus.
Human Maxillary Sinus Development, Pneumatization, Anatomy, Blood Supply, Innervation and Functional Theories: An Update Review Mohammad Ahmad Abdalla Siriraj Medical Journal, 2022 The maxillary sinus is one of four pair’s air-filled spaces that surround the nasal cavity. The majority of previously published researches considering the maxillary sinus commonly concentrated on its pathological conditions and the recent surgical or medical management procedures. However, to understand the diseases of this sinus in a better manner, it is essential to have some basic medical details. Therefore, the present review is an attempt to focus light on this sinus by doing a cosmopolitan update on its development and anatomy, besides the functional theories by searching through many well-known scientific databases including Medline, Scopus, EMBASE, PubMed Central (PMC), PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science.
In the current review, the author tried to approach, recognize and explain the fundamental data that may provide better ideas to imagine the pathological problems related to the maxillary sinus. In addition, the author did not conduct a new study on human nor animal subjects because the previously implemented articles were the chief and the only source for this review.
In conclusion, the functions and physiology of the maxillary sinus are the subjects that reflect the anatomical complexity mentioned in the most recent articles may probably show that all its functions could be a part of a large and more complicated image than that apparent nowadays.
Levels of Leptin, Adiponectin, and Insulin in COVID-19 Patients Sura Zahim HUSSEIN, Mohammad Ahmad ABDALLA, and Medicina Moderna, 2022 In SARS-CoV-2 infected patients, obesity is a risk factor for the development of respiratory failure. Many pro-inflammatory adipokines and mediators are produced from adipose tissue. Blood samples were collected from 60 COVID-19 patients after three to five days from symptoms and signs were appeared like headache, fatigue, fever, and cough. All patients were diagnosed as positive COVID-19 infection with a pharyngeal swab which is positive by RT-PCR who attended to Isolated Hospital in Tikrit City in Iraq from December 2020 to March 2021 and 30 samples from healthy individuals. Levels of leptin, adiponectin, and insulin were increased in COVID-19 patients with highly significant (P≤0.01) when compared with healthy individuals. Increased levels of leptin, adiponectin, and insulin in COVID-19 patients may occur because all patients were obese with severe respiratory inflammation.
CT Scans Imaging of Human Ethmoid Sinuses and Gross Anatomical Dissection: a Descriptive, Projective, Comparative, and Dimensional Study Mohammad Ahmad ABDALLA, Rana Zahim HUSSIEN, and Medicina Moderna, 2022 Introduction: The ethmoid air sinus can subdivide into several air cells, which are separated from each other by thin, incomplete bony septa resulting in the formation of three groups of air cells (anterior, middle, and posterior cells). Methods: A randomized sample of 360 human individuals, including 110 cadavers with another 250 CT scan cases, was achieved from February 2020 to November 2021. Results: The agger nasi was the most common type of cell demonstrated by 81.8% in cadaveric cases and 94% in CT cases. The frontal bulla cell presents just above the ethmoidal bulla and may produce convexity on the frontal sinus floor. Its prevalence was 10.9% in cadaveric cases and 22.8% in CT cases. The suprabullar cell is on top of bulla ethmoidalis and represents 7.3% of cadaveric cases and 14.8% of CT cases. Concha bullosa presents as a comprehensive pneumatization in the middle turbinate. Its prevalence was 34.5% in cadaveric cases and 44% in CT cases. The Haller cell reveals as a pneumatized air-filled cell shown at the lower medial side of the orbit. It was in 29% of cadaveric cases and 42% of CT cases. In addition, the sphenoethmoid (Onodi) cell is a posterior ethmoidal cell with a prevalence of 41.8% in cadaveric and 64% in CT cases. Conclusion: This study described the morphologic anatomy of each ethmoid sinus and compared its dimensions by gross anatomy with CT scanning in different age groups. This yields clues to understanding the variations in human races and ethnic groups
