  • Religiosity-based psychoeducational intervention for academic procrastination based on the Big Five personality traits among college students

    The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a religiosity-based psychoeducation program in reducing academic procrastination among students, based on the Big Five personality traits. The study utilized a one-group pretest-posttest design to analyze the impact of the religiosity-based psychoeducation program on academic procrastination. The academic procrastination questionnaire and the Big Five personality traits scale were used for data collection. Data analysis was conducted using Dependent sample t-test and two-way ANOVA to determine the differences in the level of reduction in academic procrastination based on personality traits. The study found that the application of the religiosity-based psychoeducation program was effective in reducing academic procrastination among students, with significant decreases observed in both State Islamic and Private Universities. Additionally, differences were observed in the level of reduction in academic procrastination based on the Big Five personality traits, with extraversion and neuroticism decreasing drastically compared to the other three traits. Religiosity-based psychoeducation programs can be an effective approach in reducing academic procrastination among students, especially when combined with lectures or religious activities on campus/institutions. The findings of this study suggest that addressing procrastination based on personality traits can improve the effectiveness of interventions aimed at reducing academic procrastination. This study has practical implications for educators and academic institutions seeking to address academic procrastination among students. By tailoring interventions to address personality traits and incorporating religiosity-based psychoeducation programs, educators can effectively reduce academic procrastination among students.

  • The Benefit of Using a Psychoeducation Program Integrated with Quranic Values to Mathematics Anxiety Among Students

    An innovative approach to education should be provided in Mathematics learning activities to battle anxiety. However, studies on handling mathematical anxiety problems through psychoeducational programs have not been conducted. This study aims to analyze the benefits of implementing a psychoeducational program that integrates Qur’anic values on students’ mathematics anxiety. The quasi-experimental research was applied to junior high schools in Indonesia, consisting of experimental and control groups. Furthermore, the mathematical anxiety scale was used as a data collection technique, while the Kruskal-Wallis Test was used for analysis. The results showed that the application of psychoeducational programs is beneficial in reducing students’ mathematics anxiety levels. Therefore, psychoeducation programs integrated with Quranic values are recommended for mathematics learning activities. The application is suitable for various groups of students. However, initial training is needed for teachers to have a level of mastery of scientific integration (Islam), hence the application of the programs can run well.

  • A Skill Application Model to Improve Teacher Competence and Professionalism

    <p>Teacher professionalism is needed for quality education. The current practice for increasing teacher professionalism is to use skill applications. However, the implementation of skill applications has, in fact, not succeeded in significantly increasing teacher professionalism. This study aims to explain the importance of an effective skill application model coupled with a comprehensive approach to raise the level of teacher competence. This study is qualitative with its data derived from observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The paper's research findings show that existing programs are not sufficiently enhancing teacher competencies and professionalism. Various teacher professional development activities are conducted; however, there has been no continuous post-activity follow-up. These professional development activities tend only to fulfill the administrative requirements for teacher promotion. What is needed is a comprehensive and continuous teacher professionalism assessment model, which is underpinned by a system of mentoring. This study has implications for evaluating the teacher's professional competencies. More comprehensive skill applications need to be formulated as part of an integrated, sustainable, and mentoring [terpadu, sustainable, pendampingan-TSP] approach to develop teacher professionalism significantly.</p>

  • A Traditional Game-Based Parenting Model as a Cultural-Inheritance Medium in Early Childhood Education

    Education related to parenting must be provided for parents to have a broad perspective in preparing a child's education. The use of traditional games in parenting can be developed to apply and preserve the local values and norms in the next generation from an early age. Based on traditional games, a parenting model is also an effort to transmit good and wise local culture to pre-school children. This research offers a parenting model based on the traditional games relevant to pre-school child education (PAUD – Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini). This type of research comprises Research and Development, which references ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). After the parenting model has been designed, this model subsequently goes through a validation phase with parenting-model subject-matter experts and design experts, in order to elicit suggestions for improvement until this model can be stated as suitable to be categorized as 'good'. After the validation and revision phases, the researchers conducted a trial, in order to understand student perceptions when using the model. A parenting model based on traditional games can be expected to instil an awareness of the importance of local culture, and as an effort to make best use of a child’s formative years, which is seldom done. Parenting, based on traditional games, is of no less interest than other parenting models. The parenting model developed in this research contributes to the development of teaching material for pre-school children's education.

  • Where exactly for enhance critical and creative thinking: The use of problem posing or contextual learning

    <p style="text-align: justify;">Learning models that can improve critical thinking, skills collaborate, communicate, and creative thinking are needed in the 21st-century education era. Critical and creative thinking are the two essential competencies of the four skills required in the 21st century. However, both are still difficult to achieve well by students due to a lack of thinking skills during mathematics learning. This study was conducted to determine the model of learning that is appropriate to develop students' critical and creative thinking skills. The study used three-class samples from eighth grade. The first class is given the problem-posing lesson; the second class is given contextual learning and third class as a control class. The results of the study indicate that improving students' critical and creative thinking skills are included in the moderate category for types using contextual learning and problem-posing. Also, it is found that contextual learning is more effective for improving critical thinking skills when compared with learning problem posing and expository learning. Meanwhile, learning problem posing is more useful to enhance creative thinking skills compared with contextual and expository learning.</p>

  • Development of mathematics teaching device integrated with quranic values: Issues, challenges, and implementation model

    The aim of the study was to explore teacher students’ experiences of self-regulated learning and the teaching-learning environment during a course following the Flipped Classroom approach. Theoretical perspectives include self-regulated learning and motivation, especially in terms of the fore-thought phase in which the students set goals for their studying and learning processes, and monitoring. Goals are approached, in addition to the immediate study context, from more general perspectives of teacher education preferences. This study consists of two parts. In Study 1, 156 Finnish teacher students responded in the initial survey and 144 students responded to the final survey. Altogether, 89 students responded to all the questionnaires. Study 2 includes interviews with six teacher students. The data were analyzed by using mixed methods including qualitative content analyses and various quantitative analyses. The results suggested that students come with various goals and interests in this kind of course and these are related to their experiences of the teaching-learning environment in various ways. Results also revealed that teacher students seem not to set clear goals for their studying on the course level, but broader teacher education preferences were related to their experiences of the teaching-learning environment. Also, student interest in the course seemed to be quite persistent as the original interest is related to the level of interest at the end of the FC course.

  • Three parts of 21 century skills: Creative, Critical, and Communication Mathematics through Academic-constructive Controversy

    This study aims to analyze the characteristics of critical, creative and communication thinking after participating in learning academic-constructive controversy. Sequential explanatory design with sequential phase design analysis was used for the test results of two classes of junior high school students. The results showed that the experimental group was better than the control group for creative, critical, and communication mathematic. Completeness of the characteristics of the three abilities is in line with the ability of students, but they experience obstacles to communicating. Unfortunately, this study is only limited to quadrilateral topics. Academic-Constructive controversy learning can be used to develop three skills or even develop character qualities going forward.
