Enhancing Surveillance with Blockchain and Iot Drone Technology, 2026
This chapter presents a comprehensive framework for designing a Smart Parking Safety and Surveillance System leveraging computer vision technologies to enhance urban security. The objective is to automate and improve the monitoring of vehicles and pedestrians in parking environments using in-vehicle and multi-view camera systems. The approach employs OpenCV-based modules for pedestrian detection, lane and sign recognition, foreground–background extraction, and multi-camera tracking, integrated through a modular architecture. Sample lab exercises and system simulation demonstrate practical applicability. The findings indicate the system's potential to significantly reduce human error, improve vehicle tracking accuracy, and strengthen surveillance coverage in smart cities. The chapter concludes that such vision-enabled systems are integral to modern urban infrastructure, especially when aligned with emerging technologies like IoT and blockchain. The proposed model serves as a scalable foundation for future smart surveillance initiatives.

    Wireless Personal Communications, 2020
Many agricultural activities can be highly enhanced by using sensor networks and data mining techniques. One of these activities is the regulation of the quantity of water in cultivated fields. Moreover, wireless sensor network have become a more emerging technology in precision agriculture during the recent years. The important issue in the design of wireless sensor networks is the utilization of energy and to enhance the lifetime of the sensor nodes. In this paper, a new intelligent routing protocol has been proposed to improve the network lifetime and to provide energy efficiency in the routing process which is used to provide data to the irrigation system. This novel intelligent energy efficient routing protocol uses fuzzy rules and the protocol is called as Terrain based Routing using Fuzzy rules for precision agriculture. The fuzzy inference system developed in this work has been used to take decisions for routing. The system has been implemented and compared with two routing algorithms called Region Based Routing and Equalized Cluster Head Election Routing Protocol. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than the other existing algorithms.

    Wireless Personal Communications, 2020
In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), the lifetime optimization based on minimal energy consumption and security are the crucial issues for the effective design of protocols to perform multi-hop secure routing. In order to address these issues, we propose a new routing protocol called Secured Quality of Service (QoS) aware Energy Efficient Routing Protocol in this paper which is designed based on trust and energy modelling for enhancing the security of WSN and also to optimize the energy utilization. In this proposed work, the trust modelling uses an authentication technique with a key based security mechanism for providing trust scores. Moreover, three types of trust scores namely direct, indirect and overall trust scores are calculated in this work for enhancing the security of communication. In addition, a cluster based secure routing algorithm is proposed in this work in which the cluster head has been selected based on QoS metrics and trust scores to perform cluster based secure routing. Finally, the final path has been selected based on path-trust, energy and hop count to efficiently carry out the secure routing process. The proposed work has been assessed by simulations carried out using NS2 simulator. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides better performance in terms of increase in packet delivery ratio, network life time and security. Moreover, it provides reduction in delay and energy consumption when the proposed secure routing algorithm is compared to the other related secure routing algorithms.

In designing wireless sensor network (WSN), the conversation of energy is an important issue to prolong the network lifetime. Most of the energy is wasted during transmission. To overcome this, an energy efficient routing protocol is proposed in this paper using a hybrid optimisation technique. Moreover, a nature inspired hybrid optimisation approach called bacterial swarm optimisation (BSO) is used in this work for energy optimisation in WSN. BSO is an amalgam of two optimisation techniques namely particle swarm optimisation (PSO) and bacterial foraging optimisation (BFO). BSO is used to identify the optimal next hop node for each gateway which in turn results in optimal route. The optimal relay nodes are selected based on lifetime of the gateways and distance in hops between gateways and base station. The results obtained from the simulation show that this proposed BSO based algorithm outperforms the other existing algorithm for routing.
