  • Strategic Leadership 5.0 Practices of Principals in Jordan

    This study addresses the gap in empirical research on Strategic Leadership 5.0 implementation in developing nations, with specific focus on Jordan. The research examined: (1) current adoption levels of Strategic Leadership 5.0 dimensions among Jordanian principals, (2) implementation challenges, and (3) strategies for effective integration. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 300 teachers via surveys including both quantitative scales and open-ended questions. Results indicated moderate adoption across all dimensions (M=2.93-3.04), with significant differences based on teacher sex and experience. Key challenges included insufficient training, resistance to change, and resource limitations. The study recommends comprehensive professional development, policy alignment, and infrastructure investment to enhance Strategic Leadership 5.0 implementation in Jordanian schools.

    The rapid evolution of technology, pedagogy, and societal demands places educational leadership at a critical crossroads. This chapter explores transformative trends—AI integration, personalized learning, and competency-based education—through a review of studies (2019–2025). It identifies systemic barriers such as the digital divide (40% of low-income students lack internet), resource shortages, and inadequate teacher training (only 25% feel prepared). Ethical challenges, including algorithmic bias (35% of schools lack AI bias policies) and data privacy concerns, complicate leadership. Case studies from Finland and Summit Public Schools highlight strategies like collaborative governance, professional development, and data-driven decision-making. Recommendations include investing in infrastructure, creating ethical AI frameworks, and fostering inclusive learning environments. By linking theory (Kotter, Fullan) to practice, this research offers actionable guidance for leaders to build equitable, adaptive systems that promote student agency, and pedagogical integrity.
  • Beyond the glass ceiling: Redefining leadership success

    Cultivating Inclusive Educational Leadership Ecosystems Women Trailblazers and the Path Forward, 2025
    The glass ceiling represents the invisible barriers preventing women and marginalized groups from reaching top leadership roles. Breaking this barrier has been seen as a major achievement, but this chapter argues that true leadership equity requires more than just shattering the glass ceiling. It critiques the traditional focus on individual achievement and calls for redefining leadership success to include empowerment, inclusion, and shared prosperity. In culturally diverse contexts like the Arab world, where tribal structures and communal values dominate, a new model of leadership is proposed—one that integrates ethical considerations and inclusive practices. The chapter also notes how recent reforms, such as Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aim to increase female participation in the workforce, but challenges remain. Ultimately, it advocates for leadership models that prioritize diversity, equity, and social impact, aligning with both global standards and cultural values to foster lasting positive change

It also analyzes contemporary tenure and promotion structures in higher education, focusing on the role of peer review, the balance between research, teaching, and service, and the impact of gender bias. It discusses the specific challenges women face, including work-life balance issues, mentorship and networking deficits, and the intersectionality of diverse experiences among women faculty members. The chapter underscores the importance of institutional policies and programs in supporting women in academia. The chapter advocates for a comprehensive and nuanced approach to address the complex challenges women face, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to create an inclusive academic environment where all faculty members have equal opportunities to succeed.

  • Teacher Recruitment and the Right Career Choice: Parents' Perceptions of the Teaching Profession in Oman

    This study aimed to identify why students are reluctant to choose teaching as a career in the Sultanate of Oman from parents’ perceptions. It also aimed to verify whether there were statistically significant gender differences in parents’ perceptions of the teaching profession. Using a quantitative research design, the study applied a questionnaire to a sample of 2,519 parents, of whom 66.7% were males and 33.3% were females. The questionnaire results indicated that the reasons for reluctance in choosing to teach from parents’ perceptions centred on the difficulty of the career, the lack of financial incentives compared to the workload, and teachers’ low social status compared to other professions. The results also revealed gender differences in choosing teaching as a career in favour of females from the perspective of students’ parents. It is recommended that parents should respect their children’s choice of future professions and their desire to be teachers. In addition, the Ministry of Education in Oman must make significant efforts to make teaching an attractive career again.
  • Factorial validity of the organizational health inventory among Omani teachers: Invariance across gender

    <span lang="EN-US">This study examined the factor structure of the Organizational Health Inventory (OHI) scale among Omani teachers. There were four factors assumed to represent the OHI (principal influence, academic emphasis, morale, and initiating integrity). Testing the scale reliability was another aim of this study. A random sample (n=458) of Omani teachers was considered. The short version of the scale has 30 items. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the sample data. The model is good fitted to the data. Across gender, the invariance of the structure was tested, and the parameters of the model were invariant. Consequently, the two genders were compared via multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) with gender as an independent variable and subscales. The female teachers were found to more likely show principal influence, academic emphasis, and morale than the male teachers, who instead, were more efficacious than the female teachers in dealing with institutional integrity.</span>
