This study presents the development of high-performance, flame-retardant, and thermally stable 3D-printed composites through the incorporation of 10 wt% marble powder (MP) into Polylactic Acid (PLA)/Polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer blends. The primary objective was to enhance the crystallinity, structural integrity, and fire safety of PLA-based materials by leveraging MP as a sustainable, inorganic reinforcing filler. Among the tested formulations, the ternary composite designated as 3D-S4 (80% PLA, 10% PCL, 10% MP) exhibited superior thermal, mechanical, and flame-retardant properties across all evaluation metrics. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated the highest thermal degradation temperature for 3D-S4 at 253.56 °C, suggesting enhanced thermal resistance over neat PLA (3D-S1) and binary PLA/PCL blends (3D-S3). The crystallinity of 3D-S4 (50.93%) increased by 48.88% compared to 3D-S3 (34.21%) due to the nucleating effect of marble powder enhancing crystalline packing. Flame retardancy assessments confirmed a V-0 rating in the UL-94 vertical test and an HB 1 classification in the horizontal burning test, with a reduced burn time of 4.67 s and burn length of 43 mm. Additionally, 3D-S4 demonstrated improved solid density (1.477 g cm−3) and the highest impact toughness (43.64 KJ m−2), better than neat PLA by 22% and neat PCL by 82%. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed enhanced molecular alignment and moderated crystallinity due to MP’s influence. These findings establish that incorporating marble powder significantly improves thermal stability, mechanical resilience, and flame resistance, positioning 3D-S4 as a promising material for eco-friendly applications in automotive, structural, and consumer product manufacturing through additive technologies. - Impact energy absorption and failure analysis of basalt-/glass-fiber-reinforced cylindrical hybrid composites

Rising concerns about environmental pollution and the depletion of fossil-based resources have increased the demand for biodegradable alternatives to traditional petroleum-based plastics, particularly in industries such as automotive manufacturing. In this study, biodegradable composites made from polylactic acid (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL), reinforced with marble powder (MP) as the filler, were developed and thoroughly evaluated. Composite samples were fabricated using 3D printing to ensure precision and consistency. The structural and mechanical properties of the PLA/PCL/MP composites were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD results indicated that the addition of marble powder enhanced the crystallinity of the composites, while FTIR analysis showed chemical interactions between the polymers and the filler, suggesting improved compatibility. SEM images revealed better interfacial bonding and a uniform phase distribution, which contributed to enhanced mechanical performance. Compared to pure PLA/PCL blends, the composites reinforced with marble powder demonstrated significant improvements in tensile strength, flexural strength, impact resistance, and overall density. These results highlight marble powder’s dual role as an economical filler and an effective reinforcement. The applications of aluminum-based Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) are very huge and it possesses good output when combined with Mica Powder. Because Mica is one of the naturally available crafted stones of minerals. It can bind with the materials easily in ambient conditions. This research work is to study the mechanical performance of the AL7075/Mica Powder hybrid MMC's. The varying grams of Mica powder (5 g to 25 g) are added with 500 grams of aluminum 7075. From the results obtained for the mechanical properties of AL7075/Mica Powder composite. Specimen 5 (500 g of AL 7075/25 g of Mica Powder) has excellent mechanical properties such as tensile strength of about 285 MPa, impact strength of about 18 J. The Vicker Hardness indentation is about 80 VHN, all these results define that after the addition of Mica Powder in the composite. The bonding nature of Mica with AL7075 always acts as a supporting agent in the defining of excellent mechanical properties of metal matrix composite. - Effect of stacking sequence of glass and jute fiber reinforced polymer composites on their low velocity impact properties

This paper investigated the effect of stacking sequence on the low velocity impact behavior of glass and jute fiber reinforced hybrid composites. The hand layup method is used to fabricate the composites with various stacking sequences. The low velocity impact analysis was carried out at various impact energies, namely 5 J, 10 J and 15 J. Dye penetrant inspection (liquid penetrate inspection) was performed to analyses the damage area in the composites. Compression after impact (CAI) testing was conducted to study the compression strength of the composites after the impact. The study revealed that the jute fiber composites exhibited better results in terms of energy absorption, but the damage area of the composites was higher, compared to the other specimens fabricated. Meanwhile, hybrid composite S7 presented high energy absorption and the minimum damage area. To conclude, the hybrid composite S7 appeared to have the optimum formulation, showing better results in energy absorption, with lower damage and higher compression strength. - Machining Studies of Basalt Fiber Reinforced Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites Using Abrasive Jet Machining
