  • A STUDY ON COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH AND AUTHORSHIP PATTERN IN PHYSICAL SCIENCE DISCIPLINE AT TEZPUR UNIVERSITY
, Surendra Kumar Pal, Sudip Bhattacharjee, and
Journal of Indian Library Association, 2025
This study evaluate the research collaboration and pattern of authorship in physical science discipline of Tezpur University. Based on the Scopus publication data (2089), this study found that the share of two-authored papers are significantly high (588) than single-authored papers (74). The highest 96% are multi-authored documents and the highest 28.16% are two-authored papers which indicating the significant collaborative research trend in the physical science discipline at Tezpur University. Prof. Niranjan Karak, from department of Chemical Science, has the highest publications (147 articles) with highest 39 h-index, 69 g-index, and 5602 numbers of citations. This study findings also evident that average degree of collaboration (0.96), Collaborative Index (3.13), Collaboration Co-efficient (0.65), and the highest MCC (0.68) found in the year 2019. The relative growth rate (RGR) has decreased from 0.89 to 0.12 while doubling time (Dt) increasing from 0.78 to 5.77. Since 96% of the publications were published as multi-authored, thus collaborative efforts among the scholar can lead to more citation impact. It further accelerates the problem solving with inter-disciplinary collaboration. Funding agency can gain better return on investment (ROI), while policy maker of Tezpur University can better rely on this study finding for taking evidentiary decision.
  • Global research contributions on orchids: A scientometric review of 20 years
Payel Goswami, Sucheta Bhattacharjee, Sudip Bhattacharjee
Journal of Applied Biology and Biotechnology, 2024
Orchids, renowned for their attractive beauty, play vital roles in ecosystems worldwide. Many researches highlight the role of orchids as indicator species, reflecting ecosystem health and vulnerability to environmental changes. Across the globe, numerous articles have been published on these topics, facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas their pros and cons. However, no study was conducted to evaluate the trends of research in this field. It is also very essential to understand the prolific authors, sources, journals, institutions, recent trends, and other relevant factors associated with orchids. As a result, this paper is undertaken to comprehensively map the existing articles published on the orchids and its relevant research with a scientometric method. The dataset was downloaded from the Scopus database from 2003 to 2022 and for analysis; Bibliosiny (version 6.1.R2) and VOSviewer (version 1.6.18) were used. A total 18600 numbers of records were globally published under the topic during the entire period from 2003 to 2022. Publications were also contributed from different sources such as journals and books. Total 543660 numbers of references are used in the different documents, and 43216 authors contributed their work in this field. Moreover, this paper also highlights the urgent need for concerted efforts to protect and preserve these valuable plants for ecosystems, ensuring the understanding of the lacking of research on orchids.

  • Curation of manuscripts in the tropical savanna climate of north-eastern India
    Sudip Bhattacharjee
    Ifla Journal, 2022
The tropical savanna climate of north-eastern India has special features due to the region’s alternative weather and geographical location. There are more than 50,000 rare manuscripts stored in different manuscript preservation centres in this region. The National Mission for Manuscripts has taken many initiatives to preserve these manuscripts, including digitization. However, no significant changes related to the physical condition of the manuscripts have been observed. Most of the manuscripts are deteriorating naturally due to improper care. The process of the deterioration of manuscripts due to the effects of the environment, weather and climate can be minimized by taking appropriate measures. This article discusses the status of the physical condition of the manuscripts in this region along with the effects of climate and weather. It also discusses the need for special care of the manuscripts in this geographical location with simple preventive measures or techniques.
