  • Spectrum Sensing Based on Hybrid Spectrum Handoff in Cognitive Radio Networks
Lakshminarayanan Vaduganathan, Shubhangi Neware, Przemysław Falkowski-Gilski, Parameshachari Bidare Divakarachari
    Entropy, 2023
The rapid advancement of wireless communication combined with insufficient spectrum exploitation opens the door for the expansion of novel wireless services. Cognitive radio network (CRN) technology makes it possible to periodically access the open spectrum bands, which in turn improves the effectiveness of CRNs. Spectrum sensing (SS), which allows unauthorized users to locate open spectrum bands, plays a fundamental part in CRNs. A precise approximation of the power spectrum is essential to accomplish this. On the assumption that each SU’s parameter vector contains some globally and partially shared parameters, spectrum sensing is viewed as a parameter estimation issue. Distributed and cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is a key component of this concept. This work introduces a new component-specific cooperative spectrum sensing model (CSCSSM) in CRNs considering the amplitude and phase components of the input signal including Component Specific Adaptive Estimation (CSAE) for mean squared deviation (MSD) formulation. The proposed concept ensures minimum information loss compared to the traditional methods that consider error calculation among the direct signal vectors. The experimental results and performance analysis prove the robustness and efficiency of the proposed work over the traditional methods.

Minimizing the photon losses by depositing an anti-reflection layer can increase the conversion efficiency of the solar cells. In this paper, the impact of anti-reflection coating (ARC) for enhancing the efficiency of silicon solar cells is presented. Initially, the refractive indices and reflectance of various ARC materials were computed numerically using the OPAL2 calculator. After which, the reflectance of SiO2,TiO2,SiNx with different refractive indices (n) were used for analyzing the performance of a silicon solar cells coated with these materials using PC1D simulator. SiNx and TiO2 as single-layer anti-reflection coating (SLARC) yielded a short circuit current density (Jsc) of 38.4 mA/cm2 and 38.09mA/cm2 respectively. Highest efficiency of 20.7% was obtained for the SiNx ARC layer with n=2.15. With Double-layer anti-reflection coating (DLARC), the Jsc improved by ∼0.5 mA/cm2 for SiO2/SiNx layer and hence the efficiency by 0.3%. Blue loss reduces significantly for the DLARC compared with SLARC and hence increase in Jsc by 1 mA/cm2 is observed. The Jsc values obtained is in good agreement with the reflectance values of the ARC layers. The solar cell with DLARC obtained from the study showed that improved conversion efficiency of 21.1% is obtained. Finally, it is essential to understand that the key parameters identified in this simulation study concerning the DLARC fabrication will make experimental validation faster and cheaper.
  • Effects of temperature and flow rates of ozone generator on the DBD by varying various electrical parameters
    Lakshminarayanan Vaduganathan
American Journal of Applied Sciences, 2012
This study rationale a high voltage power supply wh ich varies of (O-5) kV with the variable frequency of 50 Hz-5 kHz. The power supply is used in the dielectric barrier discharge tube for the ionization process to yield concentration of ozone. This setup points the development of small and high efficient ozone generators using corona discharge m ethod. Ozone generation was carried out by varying parameters including voltage, frequency, fl ow rate and temperature to yield high concentration of ozone. The feeding gas composition greatly affec ted the ozone generation rate, which was increased in order of ambient air to dry air. With increase i n temperature, ozone concentration is increased whi le ozone generation rate is enhanced. In the experimen ts, a maximum ozone concentration of approximately 83 ppm is obtained, the peak value of applied voltage of about 5kV and gap of electrode is 4.3mm respectively. Dry air is used as feeding g as with residence time of 10.58 sec.
