Compact Hexagonal shaped Multiband Patch Antenna Loaded with Complementary Split Ring Resonators for THz Frequency Applications Jaiverdhan, Bhawna Kalra, M. M. Sharma, Sanjeev Yadav, Deepshikha Lodhi 2024 IEEE Microwaves Antennas and Propagation Conference Mapcon 2024, 2024 A compact hexagonal patch antenna designed to achieve efficient performance in the THz frequency range is presented in this paper. Departing from conventional designs, in this antenna ground plane and patch are loaded with four hexagonal shape complementary split ring resonators (HCSRRs) on each. The proposed antenna operates at five resonating frequencies below $\\mathbf{- 1 0} \\mathrm{dB}$ reflection coefficients. These frequencies are $0.9 \\mathrm{THz}, 1.12 \\mathrm{THz}, 1.37 \\mathrm{THz}, 2 \\mathrm{THz}$, and 2.7 THz, with corresponding bandwidth of $60 \\mathrm{GHz}, 60 \\mathrm{GHz}, 280$ GHz, 510 GHz and 440 GHz, respectively. Moreover, the antenna provides gains of $6.9 \\mathrm{dBi}, 5.8 \\mathrm{dBi}, 5.4 \\mathrm{dBi}, 9.5 \\mathrm{dBi}$, and 8.9 dBi at the aforementioned frequencies, respectively. The overall floor area of the proposed antenna is $\\mathbf{4 0 0} \\times \\mathbf{4 3 0} \\times \\mathbf{2 0} \\mu^{3}$. Radiation patterns for the antenna are also presented, showcasing its suitability for various THz applications.
