  • A model of self-initiated professional development for teachers: Strategies, implementation, and implications for educational practice

    This study aims to refine a model of self-initiated professional development (SIPD) tailored to the specific features of Kazakhstan’s educational system. It focuses on teachers’ developmental trajectories, the frequency of professional initiative across SIPD subprocesses, and the constraints that hinder its expression. The study employed surveys, document analysis, and content analysis to explore existing SIPD practices among pedagogical college teachers in the Almaty region. It also examined the barriers limiting teachers’ professional initiative within SIPD. The research identified a wide variety of professional growth pathways, largely aligned with a cyclical 6S model: self-awareness, self-determination, self-manifestation, self-organization, self-actualization, and self-realization. These subprocesses are supported by reflective practices, self-assessment, and feedback mechanisms. However, external constraints such as regulatory pressure and insufficient resources limit the frequency and diversity of teachers’ initiatives. Adapting SIPD to the individual needs of teachers and reducing institutional constraints are essential for fostering their autonomy and sustained professional engagement. The findings highlight the need for a more flexible SIPD support system that actively encourages teacher initiative, minimizes systemic barriers, and enhances reflective and self-directed growth.
  • The Implementation of Blended Synchronous Learning and Its Effects in Kazakhstan

    Kazakhstani universities actively implement Blended Synchronous Learning (BSL) to provide flexible learning opportunities. This study examines current BSL practices in Kazakhstan’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the challenges hindering their effectiveness. The research employed an observational approach with experimental BSL classrooms at Almaty Management University and Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, alongside structured interviews with selected students and teachers. Data collection involved classroom recordings, teacher observations, and interview transcriptions using software and manual methods. Findings indicate that while some universities have adopted BSL, most HEIs are still in the implementation phase. The most common BSL practice is video conferencing via Zoom and MS Teams. Students reported high satisfaction, improved interactions, and greater accessibility. However, effective BSL requires enhanced student self-organization and additional teacher preparation, high quality infrastructure. In conclusion, BSL offers flexibility, availability, and accessibility, yet challenges remain, particularly in infrastructure, technical support, and teacher training. Future research should explore BSL’s impact on student performance, instructional methods, and the technical and psychological aspects of this learning model.

    A study is described that reveals the advantages and disadvantages of BYOD when conducting exams. The analysis of publications on the topic of the study, confirming the relevance and significance of the study, was carried out. An assessment was made of students' readiness for the implementation of BYOD. Results of the study: the majority of students of KazNPU named after Abai are ready to use their own devices when conducting exams, along with the positive aspects of BYOD technology, security problems and risks are analyzed.   • Use of ICT in CLIL-classes for the Future Teachers Training

    The article deals with the problem of improving the concept of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). At present, with the growing requirements for graduates of pedagogical universities and the search for ways of high-quality preparation for multilingualism, it becomes relevant to review the existing practices of teacher training. One of the solutions may be the formation of students' linguo-informational competence in CLIL-classes, as an interconnected study of the content of the subject and a foreign language based on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of using ICT in CLIL-classes. Based on the results of the study conducted at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Abai University), there is proposed an educational technology based on the active use of ICT tools, blended learning and methodologically based on the principles of content and language integrated learning CLIL, communicative-activity and competence-based approaches. The paper describes Internet tools, the use of which in CLIL-classes will contribute not only to familiarization or review of the information being studied using audio or video materials, but to expand and deepen the content through the use of foreign language web tools. Therefore, fundamental computer skills developed on the basis of ICT tools can help students to master new material.
  • Indoor air quality control using backpropagated neural networks

    : Providing comfortable indoor air quality control in residential construction is an exceedingly important issue. This is due to the structure of the fast response controller of air quality. The presented work shows the break-down and creation of a mathematical model for an interactive, nonlinear system for the required comfortable air quality. Furthermore, the paper refers to designing traditional proportional integral derivative regulators and proportional, integral, derivative regulators with independent parameters based on a backpropagation neural network. In the end, we perform the experimental outputs of a suggested backpropagation neural network-based proportional, integral, derivative controller and analyze model results by applying the proposed system. The obtained results demonstrated that the proposed controller can provide the required level of clean air in the room. The proposed developed model takes into consideration international Heating, Refrigerating, and air conditioning standards as ASHRAE AND ISO. Based on the findings, we concluded that it is possible to implement a proposed system in homes and offer equivalent indoor air quality with continuous mechanical ventilation without a profuse amount of energy.
