Design of IoT-based monitoring system for temperature and dissolved oxygen levels in catfish aquaculture pond water Nurma Sari, Yuniar Savitri, Sri Cahyo Wahyono, Joko Santoso, Amar Vijai Nasrulloh International Journal of Reconfigurable and Embedded Systems, 2024 One of the fish in Indonesian waters that has been successfully bred and cultivated is the catfish (Pangasius sp.). In catfish farming, there are several water quality factors that need to be considered, such as temperature and dissolved oxygen levels. Based on the existing description, it is very important to pay attention to the water quality of aquaculture ponds, especially temperature and dissolved oxygen levels for fish survival. This study aims to create an internet of things (IoT) based monitoring system for temperature and dissolved oxygen levels in catfish aquaculture pond water based on NodeMCU ESP8266. Monitoring system is using SEN0237 gravity analog dissolved oxygen sensor, DS18B20 sensor module, NodeMCU ESP8266, 20×4-character liquid-crystal display (LCD), micro secure digital (SD) card module, internet modem. Data from measurements of temperature and dissolved oxygen levels are stored online in the Adafruit.io database in the .csv format and on a micro secure digital (SD) card in the device in the .txt format. The lowest value of dissolved oxygen levels and temperature are 3.4 mg/L or 3.4 ppm and a temperature of 27.9 °C, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest value of dissolved oxygen levels and temperature are 4.6 mg/L or 4.6 ppm and temperature of 30.9 °C, respectively.
Improving Simplicia of Kerangas Forest by Minimizing Microbial Content Under Ultraviolet Radiation Treatment Kissinger, Huldani Huldani, Amar V. Nasrulloh Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences India Section B Biological Sciences, 2024 Kerangas forest is known as a source of traditional medicinal plants and thus potentially the source of simplicia. Medicinal plant preparations of simplicia are usually dried to meet water content standards (< 10%). However, in some cases the drying process carried out still does not eliminate the microbial content in the simplicia. This study aims to analyze the phytochemical compounds contained in three types of medicinal plant simplicia and the total microbial content by treatment with ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The types of simplicia used were Baeckea frutescens leaves, Shorea balangeran bark and Vitex pubescens leaves (obtained from the kerangas forest). Before testing the total microbial content, simplicia first received UV irradiation. The first simplicia sample was not irradiated, while the next simplicia sample was given UV irradiation with a power of 60 watts and an irradiation time of 1, 2 and 4 h. The microbial content test used the total plate count method with the pour plate analysis technique. S. balangeran is unexposed species to microbes, even without UV irradiation. Radiation with a UV lamp for 1 h with a lamp power of 60 watts and a distance of the sample with a lamp of 30 cm effectively eliminates microbes in B. frutescens simplicia. Radiation for 4 h with a UV lamp of 60 watts and a sample distance of 30 cm was only able to eliminate the microbial content in V. pubescens simplicia. The results of this study indicate that S. balangeran has high potential to be developed as an antibacterial.

Implementation of E.Dulcis as Albumin-coated Biomaterial Patch and Organic Photosensitizer for Photodynamic Therapy on Melanoma Cell Cancer Totok Wianto, Eka Suarso, Ori Minarto, Sri Cahyo Wahyono, Retna Apsari, Amar Vijai Nasrulloh International Journal on Advanced Science Engineering and Information Technology, 2024 Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment modality that relies on photosensitizer administration and light-based activation. The use of chlorophyll as a photosensitizer is due to the abundance of chlorophyll in nature, especially in Indonesia, which is a tropical country. An obstacle to applying chlorophyll as a photosensitizer is the low stability of chlorophyll, so modifications are needed to obtain stable chlorophyll. The coating is a chlorophyll modification method that allows for a more straightforward synthesis and can increase its stability. This research aimed to implement the extracted Eleocharis dulcis (E.dulcis) as a chlorophyll source and modify it into an albumin-coated biomaterial as a photosensitizer. The modification results can be applied as patches to obtain albumin-modified biomaterial patches with maximum absorption at wavelengths between 650-750 nm and purity >95%. The photosensitizer chlorophyll coating results from the surface modification method of chlorophyll isolate of E.dulcis weed with albumin, which has stable, high hydrophilicity properties and low toxicity. The photosensitizer was then applied to achieve apoptotic melanoma cancer cell death, and red–near-infrared laser exposure was used to get high apoptotic results. In this research, PDT with a laser energy dose of 20 J/cm2, along with the addition of a photosensitizer on melanoma cell cancer, reached the highest percentage of apoptotic cell death for both MCF7 and T47D at 90 ± 0,8 % and 86 ± 0,7 % respectively. The potential of photodynamic therapy based on albumin-coated E.dulcis‘s chlorophyll as a biomaterial patch and organic photosensitizer in increasing the death of melanoma cell cancer is a significant outcome of this research.

Macular hole morphology and measurement using an automated three-dimensional image segmentation algorithm Yunzi Chen, Amar V Nasrulloh, Ian Wilson, Caspar Geenen, Maged Habib, Boguslaw Obara, David H W Steel BMJ Open Ophthalmology, 2020 ObjectiveFull-thickness macular holes (MH) are classified principally by size, which is one of the strongest predictors of anatomical and visual success. Using a three-dimensional (3D) automated image processing algorithm, we analysed optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of 104 MH of patients, comparing MH dimensions and morphology with clinician-acquired two-dimensional measurements. Methods and AnalysisAll patients underwent a high-density central horizontal scanning OCT protocol. Two independent clinicians measured the minimum linear diameter (MLD) and maximum base diameter. OCT images were also analysed using an automated 3D segmentation algorithm which produced key parameters including the respective maximum and minimum diameter of the minimum area (MA) of the MH, as well as volume and surface area.ResultsUsing the algorithm-derived values, MH were found to have significant asymmetry in all dimensions. The minima of the MA were typically approximately 90° to the horizontal, and differed from their maxima by 55 μm. The minima of the MA differed from the human-measured MLD by a mean of nearly 50 μm, with significant interobserver variability. The resultant differences led to reclassification using the International Vitreomacular Traction Study Group classification in a quarter of the patients (p=0.07).ConclusionMH are complex shapes with significant asymmetry in all dimensions. We have shown how 3D automated analysis of MH describes their dimensions more accurately and repeatably than human assessment. This could be used in future studies investigating hole progression and outcome to help guide optimum treatments.
Interactive GPU active contours for segmenting inhomogeneous objects Chris G. Willcocks, Philip T. G. Jackson, Carl J. Nelson, Amar V. Nasrulloh, Boguslaw Obara Journal of Real Time Image Processing, 2019 We present a segmentation software package primarily targeting medical and biological applications, with a high level of visual feedback and several usability enhancements over existing packages. Specifically, we provide a substantially faster GPU implementation of the local Gaussian distribution fitting energy model, which can segment inhomogeneous objects with poorly defined boundaries as often encountered in biomedical images. We also provide interactive brushes to guide the segmentation process in a semiautomated framework. The speed of our implementation allows us to visualize the active surface in real time with a built-in ray tracer, where users may halt evolution at any time step to correct implausible segmentation by painting new blocking regions or new seeds. Quantitative and qualitative validation is presented, demonstrating the practical efficacy of our interactive elements for a variety of real-world datasets.
Multi-Scale Segmentation and Surface Fitting for Measuring 3-D Macular Holes Amar V. Nasrulloh, Chris G. Willcocks, Philip T. G. Jackson, Caspar Geenen, Maged S. Habib, David H. W. Steel, Boguslaw Obara IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2018 Macular holes are blinding conditions, where a hole develops in the central part of retina, resulting in reduced central vision. The prognosis and treatment options are related to a number of variables, including the macular hole size and shape. High-resolution spectral domain optical coherence tomography allows precise imaging of the macular hole geometry in three dimensions, but the measurement of these by human observers is time-consuming and prone to high inter- and intra-observer variability, being characteristically measured in 2-D rather than 3-D. We introduce several novel techniques to automatically retrieve accurate 3-D measurements of the macular hole, including: surface area, base area, base diameter, top area, top diameter, height, and minimum diameter. Specifically, we introduce a multi-scale 3-D level set segmentation approach based on a state-of-the-art level set method, and we introduce novel curvature-based cutting and 3-D measurement procedures. The algorithm is fully automatic, and we validate our extracted measurements both qualitatively and quantitatively, where our results show the method to be robust across a variety of scenarios. Our automated processes are considered a significant contribution for clinical applications.
Development of ozone sterilization system based microcontroller for E. Coli bacteria sterilization Arfan Eko Fahrudin, Endarko, Amar Vijai Nasrulloh, Nurma Sari Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2017 It has been created microcontroller-based ozone sterilization system which is used for E. Coli bacteria sterilization. The created system consists of a neon sign transformer, corona electrode, ozone gas chamber container and ozone gas metering systems. Neon sign transformer and corona electrode are then assembled into an ozone generator that works on the principle of corona discharge. The use of ozone generators is controlled by microcontroller system. Ozone gas is produced by ozone generators which housed in a chamber and equipped by ozone gas indicator. The results of ozone gas effect testing in E. Coli with varied exposure of 15, 30 and 45 minutes showed the decrease number of E. Coli colonies of tested bacteria samples compared to the control sample without ozone gas exposure.
